  1. Actions speak louder than words Gabby and your actions over the last year have been nowhere near your claims.

If we can't get rid, he needs to really knuckle down and prove he is worthy of a place in our team. Lose the belly, lose the party lifestyle and prove you're actually a professional footballer because at the moment you're not!

Clark is a weird one. Looks great on international duty, and good when paired with Okore, but pretty poor with anyone else. It's almost like he plays well when he has a decent partner next to him, and plays awful when his partner is a slow oaf who ball watches constantly.

Yeah he definitely needs experience next to him. He did OK paired with Cuellar at times, I remember his debut. But when relied on to be the experienced organiser he doesn't seem to handle it.

I remember a time when I was unhappy with Dunne and Collins,  how far have we fallen now it's depressing.

Blue Nose Bruce in trying to sabotage Villa shocker!!

According to The Mirror, Hull City boss Steve Bruce has urged Nigel Pearson to keep Eric Black at Villa Park if he does end up taking the job.

Villa are on the hunt for a new manager after Remi Garde's departure in March, and unsurprisingly want somebody with Championship experience to lead the club out of the second tier.

With relegation to the Championship already confirmed for Villa, a manager who not only knows the division inside out but has also won promotion out of the division into the Premier League is also preferred - making Nigel Pearson the unsurprising favourite.

The Mirror report that Pearson - who won the Championship title with Leicester in 2014 and then kept the Foxes in the Premier League - has held a second round of talks with Villa about taking the job, and appears to be edging closer to taking the job, barring a late offer from his former club Middlesbrough.

An interesting note in the report is that Hull City manager Steve Bruce - who has been linked with the Villa job himself - has allegedly spoken to Pearson and given him a glowing recommendation on Eric Black.

Black is currently in interim charge of Villa, and worked as Bruce's assistant at both Birmingham City and Sunderland, meaning he knows the Scot inside out.

    oh crap wrong thread

Well hopefully Pearson won't see it in here then ;)

  4. I hope to god it's not true but wouldn't be surprised if it is. Amavi owes us a full season. He needs to get back to fitness and regain some form, he could do that in the championship. Whether he wants to is another matter. As seems the case more and more, players often get their selfish way.

  6. Yep, I agree, there's nothing to lose here. If he makes it and can play a part then it will be an amazing achievement. His influence could be a real shot in the arm for us.

If he doesn't make the grade then we've lost nothing.

I'd bloody love it if he does though.

  7. I live too far away and have too many family and work commitments for a season ticket to be of any value. My last game was Newcastle at home, after spending the best part of £150 on tickets, food and travel for me, my missus and daughter, I decided I wouldn't be going back for a while. It wasn't fun.

Next season though will be a new experience, playing new teams with new fans and a chance we might win some games. If I was single and had loads of free time though I would most likely buy a season ticket, much as it's hard work watching Villa lately, I still rather be there than watch on TV/online.

  8. We probably are in a worse state now, granted I wasn't around the last time, but I'm guessing there wasn't as much deep rot as there is now. It's not simply a case of our team being rubbish, that I could accept. Our problems run all the way through the club.

  9. Fair play to Merv responding to the email. It doesn't tell us anything particularly new but it does confirm that we are looking to sell. When that happens is anybody's guess though.

I'm firmly in the getting my hopes up its this summer, so we can be ready for next season camp.

  10. I'm not very romantically nourished by the prospect of Pearson but I wouldn't be too angry about it. Every manager is a gamble, at least in the pot we're picking from.

There's not many managers out there that can fight off a pack of savage dogs with a stick, so that seems as good as reason as any to go with him. At least he's got recent, relevant experience in this league and might just get us up. All depends on the takeover though really doesn't it.

  11. I'm not watching it but I guess we've been unable to keep the ball and Southampton are passing it about dangerously. Oh and at least one slip, misplaced pass or idiotic piece of defending.
