There are a multitude of reasons for "disliking" Gabby etc., but this is absolute grade A, scraping the bottom of the barrel tosh.

True, much as we're all fed up of him, you can't knock him for taking his son to a football tournament. Most of the time people slate him for having too many kids he never sees.

  2. Regarding the Doug Ellis stand, I've only ever sat there once. I'd got a family ticket against Fulham so took both kids and the missus. It was quiet but people were still singing, nearly everyone joined in with a rendition of John Carew's song but there wasn't much else in the way of sustained chanting. I'd hoped for a lot more since we were sat fairly near the lower north, and it's usually good for a bit of noise in there.

  3. If we manage to sort the team out and start well, winning some games, we will hopefully see a lot of stay away fans return to VP. A full Villa Park, rocking with noise, is an awesome sight. Makes the hairs stand up on my neck :D

  4. It's crazy that Watford are going to get rid of Flores. Safety and a semi final to boot, what more do they want from their first season promoted?

A bad run of form is inevitable for promoted teams, the fact they're still mid-table surely outweighs that.

Football's gone mad, it's not the game it used to be.

So why is Bacuna starting ahead of him again?

Bacuna's a Champions League quality player of course!

It it is a disgrace that black won't dump the no-hopers and give some of the youth a chance.

  6. A lot can happen between now and August. Also a lot can not happen. It could go either way. Best case we get a buyer willing to invest soon, recruit a new manager and bring in some solid, quality players to complement the ones we're keeping - the ones that have good attitudes. We stand a good chance of promotion if we get it right.

Worst case? The sale doesn't materialise, we have no funds and we can't shift a lot of the dross in our squad. Even in this case we will raise money from transfers, my worry is that Lerner won't allow it to be spent on players.

Looking at Championship net spend, it's never much more than £10m. If we can get rid of the likes of Gabby, Richards, Lescott, Bacuna and Guzan and bring in some decent replacements then as long as everyone's pulling in the same direction, we still have a chance at going for it. We've got some very good youth talent. We've got players that have quality. We just need to make sure we're working as a team, together.

  7. He's contracted to us for another four years I think? There's fresh mega cash in the premier league and we don't have to sell him if we don't want to. All things that mean we should command a higher transfer fee.

The problem sits with what stupid clauses he has written into his contract. I've got no confidence that Fox et al would've protected our assets. He's probably got a £6m release clause and someone will pick up a bargain.

Maybe the players could make an apology. kind of either via their own banner, or via the PA system "We accept we've let you down and we've let the club down. We accept the criticism is valid and we vow to make it up to you next season" or something.

That would be the decent thing to do.

Why wouldnt it? These protests have been aimed at the board and Lerner. Meanwhile the players have been strolling around on the pitch and off it. About time they had some abuse

The thing is though, they have had plenty of abuse and deservedly so. If it's not perfectly clear that we hate them for what they've done to our great club then they must be even more thick than we realised. The players know we hate them, the press know we hate them, other team's fans know we hate them. Continued booing of every touch won't change anything. It might make fans feel better, but why not do something positive?

The last home game of our premier league era should be a positive celebration of Aston Villa. I'm not saying support the team. But support the club. A party atmosphere, singing the names of players that cared from our past. Villa til I die, Holte Enders in the sky. Let's show the world what fantastic fans we are and it's the fans that matter. Long after these arseholes have gone, we'll still be here.

Can't wait to see the team sheet Eric the wise selects this week.  Oh yes - maybe the one change if Richardson's back.

    So, so depressing.

There's no chance of him playing a team we want to see, he's already said he won't play the youngsters. Question is will Adama get a start?

  11. Actions speak louder than words Gabby and your actions over the last year have been nowhere near your claims.

If we can't get rid, he needs to really knuckle down and prove he is worthy of a place in our team. Lose the belly, lose the party lifestyle and prove you're actually a professional footballer because at the moment you're not!

Clark is a weird one. Looks great on international duty, and good when paired with Okore, but pretty poor with anyone else. It's almost like he plays well when he has a decent partner next to him, and plays awful when his partner is a slow oaf who ball watches constantly.

Yeah he definitely needs experience next to him. He did OK paired with Cuellar at times, I remember his debut. But when relied on to be the experienced organiser he doesn't seem to handle it.

I remember a time when I was unhappy with Dunne and Collins,  how far have we fallen now it's depressing.

Blue Nose Bruce in trying to sabotage Villa shocker!!

According to The Mirror, Hull City boss Steve Bruce has urged Nigel Pearson to keep Eric Black at Villa Park if he does end up taking the job.

Villa are on the hunt for a new manager after Remi Garde's departure in March, and unsurprisingly want somebody with Championship experience to lead the club out of the second tier.

With relegation to the Championship already confirmed for Villa, a manager who not only knows the division inside out but has also won promotion out of the division into the Premier League is also preferred - making Nigel Pearson the unsurprising favourite.

The Mirror report that Pearson - who won the Championship title with Leicester in 2014 and then kept the Foxes in the Premier League - has held a second round of talks with Villa about taking the job, and appears to be edging closer to taking the job, barring a late offer from his former club Middlesbrough.

An interesting note in the report is that Hull City manager Steve Bruce - who has been linked with the Villa job himself - has allegedly spoken to Pearson and given him a glowing recommendation on Eric Black.

Black is currently in interim charge of Villa, and worked as Bruce's assistant at both Birmingham City and Sunderland, meaning he knows the Scot inside out.

    oh crap wrong thread

Well hopefully Pearson won't see it in here then ;)

  14. I hope to god it's not true but wouldn't be surprised if it is. Amavi owes us a full season. He needs to get back to fitness and regain some form, he could do that in the championship. Whether he wants to is another matter. As seems the case more and more, players often get their selfish way.
