For all the laughs and jokes Chelsea are a young, naive yet talented team.

Apart from around 20 minutes (down to 10 men), they've outplayed us 3 games this season. We need to be really on it (crowd included) Saturday night to beat them.

Your showing them to much respect, they have just been thumped , it should have been more than 5!

There's illness in their squad, they have outplayed us once, when we had played mid week and was missing our first choice CB pairing.

    3 nil ollie hatrick.

It doesn't bother me, but I do wonder if it affects our commercial deals at all? If there were more articles about us and we could evidence that and show greater interest/clicks, could we get more money from sponsors?

Tbh social media marketing is all about money spent. If you want a million followers, pay for them and their yours. After that you can gain some traction with non paid for  traffic and you start to build.

Arsenal have been very clever with it and so have Chelsea. It's an area we need to look at, especially if we're in the CL. Sponsorship deals will come flooding in if we can get top 4, we now have a team behind us who are plugged into that side of the business and are ready, our finances will be getting a major boost.

As for the traditional media, talk shite, bbc and a like. They are dinosaurs and will age pretty quickly once manure continue to decline. Couple of seasons without CL, sponsors look elsewhere,  revenue drops and they have to sell, its a spiral of decline. Fans soon stop clicking when it's all doom.

  3. Barry, just a great all rounder,

    Mortimer, simple.

    Not sure tbh?

Ollie, he's the best striker I have seen us with, just got everything in his game, Yorke......nah. (benteke was better than yorke)

Bailey, he's growing into a very special player, his passes on Sunday, wow.

Martinez, best keeper in the world and he's ours..

  4. Even if they score first the crowd will push us on. We have to be able to beat teams like Chelsea at home,  if we get CL it's vital. Joking apart it's a tough match but I'm confident we have enough. Poch is a good manager,  I note some of the Chelsea fans are turning on him already, sometimes the tail wags the dog....

Sanchez and Palmer have both been out with 'illnesses' wonder if it's spreading through the team?

I think we will be going for max points in our last 4 games, 12 points. Obviously Liverpool is the hard one , followed by Chelsea, Brighton and Palace. I reckon 10 points. Not sure about Spurs tbh, their difficult to judge but obviously Sunday we will know. Title decider/killer for Arsenal?

I don't tend to mind for Villa matches as when they're not broadcast in the UK we all tend to be in the same boat so match threads don't suffer too much (except for @rjw63 listening on the **** radio like it's 1996 and coming in with all the spoilers :D )

Pisses me off more in world cups/euros when half the country is watching the match and you hear the cheers before you see the goal

Been on a strip in Corfu watching England..... one bar erupts, 30 seconds later we all find out why. Soon shot over to other bar as well as everyone else.

Thinking about it.....bar owner should have borrowed @rjw63 radio

There might be a reaction from Chelsea after that 5-0 drubbing. I don't think it helps our chances on Sat much if at all.

We need the atmosphere at VP to be amazing and players to give everything. If we go 9 clear of Spurs that will be huge, the players know it.

Once our first goal goes in Chelsea  will crumble, they have some good players but they looked completely broken against Arsenal, stick them same players in a rocking villa Park, and it will be, 8pm on a Saturday,  and they stand a very good chance of being overan. We want 9! We want 9.

Expect a reaction but how much character has the Chelsea team really got? I know it’s only one incident  and two players but the penalty thing against Everton didn’t show much unity. They didn’t even celebrate the goal.

Get a lead against them and how much fight will they have? Saturday night, pissed up crowd and against a team looking for top 4. Not a game they will want after losing a semi final and getting smashed to a London rival.

If they collapse against us then poch could be under real pressure, its a nightmare game for them tbh.

The worst this scoreline gets the more chelsea will be coming to make things right

Arsenal missed about 3 chances that should have been goals first half, unbelievable Good luck for Chelsea,  it could easily have been double figures. Arsenal are good team though tbh, takes something special to beat them, especially at home. 😁

  9. I'm convinced that once this season is over we will have some big announcements that are the building blocks to bring our revenue up to match our on field performance.

NWSE are no fools , they have the opportunity to cement us as top 4 challengers season after season and they Will not let the commercial side fall behind, its their area of expertise.

  10. Its down to character as well, you have to be forceful, strong and confident to push yourself forward when your surrounded by regular premier league and in some cases international players. Rogers has that, I don't think Tim does,  from what I have seen.

  11. Looks like the meat grinder is going to be turned back on then, I'm doubting the Russians will have any decent equipment to stop the ordnance that's going to be coming their way, especially if they have over extended and not dug in/fortified their positions.

It really is a destructive war for both countries, devastating tbh.

I wouldn't say we're on fire. We keep conceding a lot of chances and only last week we had our worst performance for months.

I would say we are very inconsistent, capable of performance like in 2nd half against Arsenal, but equally capable to not show up at all like against Lille away.

It's 50/50 if we show up against Chelsea. And if we don't, they will spank us like last time around.

Watch the second half against Bournemouth, i see flames. 3 games in 11 days and that was the last 45 minutss of it.

The last time we played Chelsea we started Carlos and Lenglet in the middle of defense......

We have too much for them, you watch.

That's the point I was making. The human element of VAR is so inconsistent. Until this is removed we should automate what we can, but VAR should be stopped until it can be applied evenly and consistently.

To me,  that's not joined up thinking. The refs get it wrong as well, shall we get rid of them? No of course not. Maybe just get new people in to run VAR , separate to the refs so there's no relationship between them.

After than just consistent decisions,  as you have pointed out. I don't care if I think it's a wrong decision just as long as its given for us if its given against us.

Everton is a hard place to go for refs , the crowd refs the game if their not strong,  it happened to us there.

  14. Now Emery sorted for the next few years, let's build or develop a stadium to rival Spurs.  For us to give him the funds to do it and to cement the future of the club looking at the next 20-30 years. We need to up our game.

    "Jakob Barnes

    Tue 23 April 2024 11:30, UK

Tottenham Hotspur’s plans to increase the amount of non-football events taking place at their stadium just took a step forward, as an official application has now been sent to the local council for the changes to be authorised.

Since the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened its doors in 2019, it has quickly become one of the best and most financially successful venues in world football.

Spurs now rank eighth in the world when it comes to revenue streams (Deloitte), and a large part of that is down to the impressive returns from the stadium."

The issue here really isn't that the decisions were wrong, it's the inconsistency of the decisions. As reflected in most posts on every football forum, sometimes these are given and sometimes they're not. It's like going to court for speeding when there's video evidence and 5 people getting fined and 3 points on their license and 5 people not getting punished. The 5 people getting away with it aren't going to complain, yet the 5 people getting punished are angry, and then when they appeal it they get another fine on top. You'd be livid if it was you.

Until there's consistency in the application of the rules we're going to go round and round never getting a solution. Ultimately VAR should be removed until then, and we use automated technology for offside and the ball crossing the line. If the match officials get the decision wrong because of human error in real time you may be upset, but you could also understand it. That's the way the game had been played for years and years and it was ok with me.

I don't think gouging your own eyes out is solving anything.  People keep blaming VAR but it's not the camera or the TV screen it's the incompetent people watching it and making inconsistent judgements.

I genuinely think that in the future there will be papers/ studies done on the job Unai has done/ is doing/ will do at Villa

Sports tacticians, psychologists, physios and sports finance experts will all be looking at this as a gold standard model of approach going forward such is the turnaround and success I suspect he may bring us

Tbh it's like watching a miracle unfold what hes done with that team. It appears that the squad Smith had assembled was a perfect fit for what Emery wanted to do. I'm sure Emery had looked at our players before he took the job and realised the potential they had.

The crazy part of it is that the media have missed this miracle unfolding right before its very eyes, only SAF has pointed out how good we was after we had lost to Newcastle at the start of the season.

We are going to win the league with Emery or come very very close, who would bet against us?

For me it's minimal contact and Reyna stays on his feet in the moments after before deciding to take the fall.

you are joking, there's a milli second, delay. It just a clear penalty for me, he never got near the ball and he caught the player, it was a stupid foul but it's as clear as day to me. I suppose that's the issue, we all have opinions on it.

I can honestly say if cash had made that tackle and they had got a penalty i would have been furious at cash but I would have  accepted the penalty.

Only the third one is a pen for me but I don't disagree that the first 2 are often given too especially depending on the teams.

How can the first not be a penalty, he doesn't get the ball and goes straight through the player, from behind, who goes down, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be a penalty?

More Bournemouth fans saying how amazing our stadium is and also after the second goal how we were singing loud before and after the goal.  We are one of the best group of supporters apparently from the Holte End.

I think some of our fans have a different view of our atmosphere generally compared to what unbiased away fans think.  Plus a good Vid to watch all the way through giving the oppositions perspective.

Decent video from them, some great VLOGS are available for most teams but I have to say I'm not that impressed with any that cover villa, there's a space in the market.

I thought that challenge, that hurt his back, got his "paddy" up.

    He seemed aggressive after that.

I think that's where he struggles, aggression. He's not the biggest but he seems to have been lacking in aggression. After that point he seemed to just get stuck in more,  not going to win every header or challenge but he needed to try, after that point he did and it made a difference to his influence on the game.
