  1. An album I've not listened to in a number of years.

    e7b8def3.jpg

It was only because I saw The Lousiana in Bristol on TV the other day and reminded me of the time I saw them there, which is a great little venue. Everyone was getting kicked out after the gig and the three of us were allowed to stay as they thought we were in the band/support band. Although we didn't get to stay long anyway as my mates girlfriend was picking us up to take us to Worcester.

We got our 6 month bill today and have about £280 credit which was nice to see, considering we owed them some after the last bill. I know there was the mild October but just shows how off their £340 direct debit adjustment was after the last bill.

We've been putting the £400 energy help aside too so that's not in the figures.

Cheeky bastards have today upped our direct debit from £210 to £217.50 despite being in credit. I've changed it back to £210.

  3. This one has been a weird one and if it wasn't for Emery mentioning his name in a press conference I would have put it in the over hyped press talk category and not a lot in it.

He has and hasn't wanted to join us.

We've both bid and Marseille have received no bids.

Yes you can have talks without actually officially bidding but this has been going on for weeks now. So it could be so many things. I've just listed then deleted the options that I thought could be the case. The one that looks more likely is he doesn't want to come so the interest was there but we haven't bothered bidding, who knows though.

It's just the same story at the moment where an MP has done something wrong and it drags on until whichever PM it is can't ignore it/brush it under the carpet any longer.

This has been going on ages. He shouldn't have been allowed to be Chancellor with it over is head and shouldn't have been allowed to try and resolve it on the hush while in charge of that department.

There's no consequences. They might lose their cabinet role but stay as an MP.

Anyone listened to the Reytons album? Had never heard of them before until I saw them getting plugged on Twitter. Apparently a band with no label and currently on track to have the number 1 album in the UK.

Was listening to it on my walk home when you posted and finished it off on the walk to work this morning and think I'd heard 1 or 2 songs on playlists that spotify have suggested for me bit like you was only when I heard about them in the running for number 1 album I had a listen. Very reminiscent of Milburn and early Arctic Monkeys, that's probably the South Yorkshire accents as much as the music.

I don't listen to an awful lot of Indie music now but enjoyed it. I think there is a bit of a scene growing with Indie bands currently. Some being pretty popular without the commercial appeal at the moment. I guess a few will be pushed by labels now trying to cash in on The Reytons success.

  6. I think it had to be Dyche. Bielsa has his plus points but surely there is not enough time for him to have his influence. It is so close down there a few wins and it all changes. Dyche will get back to basics and aim to grind out more results and build from there. They might end up being cut off under Bielsa before the improvements come.

My 6 month smart meter bill should here very soon. Will be interesting whether it's going to match what I've paid with DD. The last bill they changed my direct debit to £340, I felt that was too high and lowered it to £270. A couple of months ago they thought it should now be £190 odd. Which I thought was a bit low so only lowered it to £210. Which until now is saying on track. So hoping its about right with no surprises, well a big surplus would be nice but that's not going to happen.

    Thunderbird?

I'm not sure I would have known that was a wine. I was aware of the name so knew it was an alcoholic drink but a bit before my time. Have checked and seems it's still available (out of stock where i saw it)  I've seen it at both 13 &13.5. Whether that's the same as the original?

  9. Cooking Roast Pork while watching the football.

Had a bottle of Duval and bottle of Lilleys Bee sting perry.

Opened a bottle of red ready for dinner. No idea what it will be like just grabbed it as I walked down the aisle towards the till in Lidl. Portuguese Monseraz Reserva. Just noticed its 15% which I think is the most I've seen for wine, plenty of 14.5% but not seen 15 before.

  11. My first car, an old Golf was a bit of a magnet to getting broken into. Which was most of the time was to try and get the stereo which had a removable faceplate which I didn't keep in the car.

The first time I actually dreamt about my car getting broken into that night. Then when I went to my car, they'd smashed a window, nicked my parcel shelf with speakers in and took a bag with golf shoes in it. My golf clubs were also in there but they left them.

After a night out in Bristol, the next day again a window was smashed CD's all over the place but nothing taken.

Think it got broken into a couple of times after that, them getting in without any damage.

Finally on a split shift from work parked just up from my house. I'd actually left the faceplate on. Annoyingly I nipped to the shop, there were a couple of suspicious lads but didn't think anything of it, then as I passed my car on the way back saw the loose wires, resulting being pretty pissed off both for leaving the faceplate on and that I was so close when it happened.

  12. Almost one for the boring thread but on topic. I was walking from Paddinton Station to Edgware Rd with my phone in my hand about 10 years ago or more. A women in full muslim dress tried to take it out my hand as she passed. I had a tight grip so she didn't get it. I do wonder what I would have done and what would have happened had she took it. How the situation would have been viewed if I did confront her, with quite a large muslim population with the supermarkets on that road. Nothing happened though and we both carried on our way.

That the Christmas Thread is closed when I want a rant about the idiots with their lights still up, or all of the Christmas stuff we've still got that we shouldn't have bought in the first place that hasn't been used or that I found some Christmas stuff about the place that should now be in a box in the loft or that it's going to rain all weekend so I probably won't take the outside lights down.

Oh wait.... This is a good thread to moan about that shit!

Some people still have now rotting pumpkins outside their houses let alone some Christmas decorations!

We've just had a Tim Horton's open near us and while good, they don't even have the option to remove the bun from their burgers, let alone a GF bun.

My girlfriend takes her own bun now, if we ever happen to eat in at a fast food place, although that is exceptionally rare. You lose the sauce and / or cheese cemented to the original bun that way of course though...

On the subject of gluten free. I don't suppose you are aware of what in and around Villa Park is like? Taking my daughter to her first game on Friday, with time in mind until the other day I planned on just getting something once parked or in the ground until I remembered it won't be as easy as that. It will possibly just chips and even they're not a definite. Might have to just take something for her to eat in the car.

On a side note, I can't believe they still don't do Gluten Free burgers basically anywhere at fast food places in the UK - yes I know you could just have no bun, but the almost complete exclusion of a GF bun basically anywhere is weird, especially when countries on the continent do them, and better than that, the buns are produced by Schar for Mc's.

My daughter is Coeliac and it's a proper pain in terms of fast food if want to get something while out. We don't have fast food that often but there are very few options. Usually only McDonalds without a bun and as you say is frustrating that they don't do a bun in the UK yet they do in a lot of other countries.

  16. Again, he gets so much criticism and yes he can be frustrating at times, specifically his finishing. However you can't deny the impact he can have. Getting in those positions (even if he should finish more), assisting the team and creating assists. He can even finish chances others wouldn't.

Some think its so easy to go out and get that 20+ striker and Watkins is easy to replace. Can he be? Probably, it's certainly not straight forward though.

  17. While a brief cameo with a few flashes of good play is hardly the sign of good things to come, I really don't get all the hate and criticism Coutinho has got in about the last year.

Some of his play when when he first came was sublime. He then went pretty shit/inaffective but you really have to consider how awful we were as a team for a long time under Gerrard.

He isn't a player who is going to carry a team and yes you can't rely on his pressing/defensive game but I've never written off the potential impact he still has. There was glimpses of his hunger more than anything just prior to the World Cup and Emery when he could see the world cup slipping away and got a chance.

I can't see where he starts though in the team that has played the last couple of games. I suppose Buendia or a push Bailey. I still think he cand have a very important part to play.

The NCP website isn’t currently playing ball, keeps telling me no car parks available. I’ll keep trying.

Theres a very cheap spot near Wembley Park, anyone used Just Park before?

Edit: Just noticed next to Wembley Park station there’s an Asda with a bookable car park. £25 for the 2 days and will be convenient if we need to buy anything or fill up the car.

I think I have a plan then! I’ll run it by the Mrs later, and wait for her to say she doesn’t want to go

I've used JustPark and yourparkingspace quite a few times with no issues. The only time in London was for an England game at Wembley on someone's drive.

I've used it at a couple of Asda car parks too. I got a fine at Worcester but got it rescinded.

Bought a bottle of this for Xmas morning. The missus and daughter will have some sort of fizzy wine, I'll have some champagne-like beer. Done this the last few Xmases

Apple infused Belgian-style saison, very lightly effervescent and brewed with wild yeast 9% ABV - £8.50 a bottle.

Should be drunk in a champagne flute as the picture suggests

Named after Ninkasi the Sumerian goddess of Beer

I've never tasted a beer like it

You might want to get a couple of bottles in to keep the tradition. Just read they have gone insolvent.

Not sure about making your stomach hurt but yes you should pour a beer into a glass (unless no option) and you should pour it quickly to release the CO2. This makes the beer taste better. Part of a previous job I did a beer and cellar course. Part of it was trying a bottle of beer poured differently and definitely tastes better that way. I find it's bit the best way to pour a the Belgian strong beers, trapping ones etc as they are too lively to do really quick.

Not long after being with my now wife, I'd bought a bottle of beer I was looking forward to. She was making a drink for herself and thought it would be nice to get me mine. She was probably proud of how she poured it without spilling any, I came in the kitchen and saw her finishing the pour. I wasn't intentionally rude but she read my facial expression at seeing this flat looking beer. 7 years later and she's not poured a beer for me since.

Just poured one of the beers she got me for my birthday though. From a beer and snack set - Empress Premium British Pale ale. Pretty ordinary, she's not here so don't have to hide my expression.
