Not my first Villa Park game but the one I have the clearest early memories of was a snow game. My birthday 1962, an FA cup game against Crystal Palace. villa won 4-3, watched it while standing on a pile of snow cleared from the pitch at the front of the Witton End.

    Happy Days⛄

I remember that game too - I was down the front of the Witton End. I seem to recall Peter Mac playing alongside Derek Dougan. But there is a memory that sticks in my mind. The Sunday before, the Palace's Johnny Byrne (later to be a legend with WHU) and his wife were on Sunday Night at The London Palladium - not as performers, but to take part in the interval game Beat the Clock. The game involved somehow an inflatable Yogi Bear punchbag.  Which is exactly what the Palace fans in the Witton were waving above their heads during the match. 😃

Davis is the only player I really have any doubt over but not to the degree of the players we’ve let go so far… the guy just doesn’t score goals though! But maybe he can contribute more with better players and service

And more time on the pitch?

  3. Ruben Shakpoke ?

    Josh Lane GK ex Leicester?

    Travis Patterson MF

Tom Sharp CB age 20  ?

Zak Brown CM age 20 ?

These last two may have trialled for us last season - but both have been released by Albion. Assume  we have not signed them

Yeah probably just would’ve thought more interest for a talent like that at 19 yrs old for about 8m even if it was a London thing with the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham and co.

Fair play to Palace!  Just feels too good to be true for them, just feels like I’m missing something like an attitude problem or a potential medical issue down the line or other clubs didn’t think he could step up….or maybe it is as simple that Palace stole a March on everybody else and wrapped it up quickly.

Anyway we didn’t seem interested so onwards and upwards…

I believe Palace had been into this transfer even before Roy left

Tribute to Gazza Euro 96. Funny how everyone was comparing Jack to Gazza, and then Foden copy's Gazza's most memorable hairdo. I really feel like Jack is being frozen out. Like not just the manager, but the players are trying to 'put him in his place'.

In fact it may becoming from the players than the manager. Shaw 100% doesn't pass to Jack unless he has to. Same with Kane and Rice.

This is a good example of absolute bollocks.

Arsenal owe 154m in delayed transfer fees, more than any other PL club. Their fans just have to accept they're a selling club that need to balance the books

I saw the figure 160 mill for delayed fees - and a loss in 20/21 of 158 mill. Plus - they apparently still owe money on the stadium - not sure about that.

  7. Oh, God - it's that time of year again - I have to set my alarm for every two hours during the night - so I can keep up with the manic posting levels in this thread. Otherwise, its half my day gone reading dozens of pages.....

Oh, by the way - a Villa fan (I assume) called Mr. Fabulous - who has been reading this thread - but does not have a login - posted elsewhere. As a fellow fan, I feel it incumbent on me to ensure his pearls of wisdom reach a wider audience : 🤡

Because I'm not signed up to Villa Talk so can't respond there I'd just like to put on record that Tammy Abraham will flop wherever he goes, provided that happens to be north of the Championship.

As well as being a player Neil Taylor is apparently also working as a mentor to some of our youth players, that's why you sometimes see him at some of the youth games.

Especially to Raikhy - they share South Asian heritage
