You’re still scarred by the Richard Dunne era.

Steve Hunt had two spells with Villa.

Thank you, I am not nuts then although I got the opposition wrong.

Strange, my "Aston Villa, A Complete Record 1874-1988" book lists own goals around that time but doesn't record that one.

Thanks for clearing up that conundrum!

I was also just mulling over in my mind why he was making his debut in March,  but of course there was no transfer windows then, he just signed in March! Doh.

Don't forget this was Hunt's 'second home  debut' (he actually debuted in the prev game at Forest) after his spell in the US. His first spell was 73-77  7 apps 1 goal

In fact his first appearance was as a substitute in the 4-0 win at Hillsborough whi confirmed our promotion in 1975.

The last 8 games of that season were all wins scoring 26 goals.

  2. Harry Parkes next to Andy at the back. looks like Bruce Rioch next to Charlie - and Lew Chatterley in the back row ??

Not sure who the two are at the left but Ron Wylie, Doug and Percy "Kindly call me Pat" Matthews next to one another - with Bobby Thomson look-a-like  stooping at the front .

Team that day: John Dunn, Keith Bradley, Charlie Aitken, Brian Godfrey, Fred Turnbull, Brian Tiler, Pat McMahon, Davie Gibson, Andy Lochhead, Chico Hamilton & Willie Anderson

Rioch was injured after playing the 1st round - but came back for the Final.

I actually missed this game - but being at U.M.I.S.T. at the time was present at the OT leg.  Amazing.

Agree, I rate Jota highly. I'm very glad to see Wolves lose him, it will be very difficult for the to replace him. I hope Wolves decline. There is something very fishy going on at Wolves with Fosun and Mendes spinning money around.

Example - the Doherty transfer..... how often do you see a transfer where the agent is part owned by the selling club - and he is the agent not just for the player - but BOTH managers ???

Comcast sent a bit of gadgetry for free. So all games appear to available. We will see. As a bonus a while back I switched to xfinity phone. Was paying $85 for my phone through Verizon (I think)  Now I am paying $13.  I do not use a lot of data though. The first three months was $2. Insane.

We noticed that round here, Verizon use a lot of comcast towers - when internet is down - accasionally phone it too. Might investigate xfinity phone. We use a quite a bit of data - using phone as hotspot when out and about.

  5. Good grief ....we have all got bored with discussing transfers in this thread - so now we are discussing the thread itself.

I don't have enough time left on this earth to read more than one page in 10. - so I will  just pop in once a week and read one page. Best chance I have of having a life.

This smacks of Brian Little all over again. A 20 minute cameo as a sub in which he basically wins the game, and then dropped for evermore.

I read that as "Little Britain" and couldn't understand the point you were making

Wasn't this a case of coming in to the squad to replace  Keegan? I seem to recall that KK threw a strop and feigned injury for one game.  The Villa fans always reckoned that BL's display worried KK - so he recovered damn quick.

No idea if that's truth or fiction.

McBride has or is signing on a 3 year deal pretty sure it’s been concluded it was certainly all agreed.

I remember seeing McBrides leaving pic from his Irish club some time ago - pre re-start perhaps. I'd remembered it - but couldn't remember his name.

  8. Dear God!!!  671 pages to try to prove that 2 + 2 =  20  million.

There must be people who literally live in this thread.

After drifting from 1/3 to 4/6, we are now back in to 1/3 for Watkins.  Health warning attached.

  9. We are favourites (or joint favs) to sign the following (make of this what you will)

Buendia  6/1 jt (Leeds, AtleticoM, Valencia)

Watkins 4/6 (but drifting out from 1/3)

    Edouard 4/1 jt (with Arsenal)

    Benrahma 15/8

    Abraham  4/1

    Cantwell 4/1 jt (Leicester)
