  1. I was watching some clips the other day from BT sport and they were having a discussion about football hard men. They had Steven Gerard, Martin Keown, Gobby Cabbage and whoever the presenter dude is. Anyway, Gobby was sat alongside the footballers, rather than the presenter and just looked completely lost.

He had no input either as a pundit or as an ex-footballer and to be honest i'm not sure what the purpose of him is.

  2. I think we can overwhelm fulham If we go at them. I think we have such a strong core defensively that we can afford to do it as well.

Same as last week. The defence beat them physically and allow Grealish, Hourihane, Adomah and Snodgrass to tear them apart.

Have we  lost a game this year with him playing?

Apparently we haven’t conceded a goal when he has been in midfield so I’d guess no.

  4. Jedi is great in the air but his timing is outstanding. The amount of tackles he won on the ground yesterday was immense. Jack was incredible yesterday but Jedi was my motm. Him, Terry, Chester and Hutton beat Blues at their game and allowed Jack to rip them apart.

Mile is better than Thor but I think we need to use both of them in the run in. Jedinak should always be first option though.

That walking football is popular nowadays.  I have to say I always found there's a balance between not being arsed and running round like a clearing in the woods like it's the FA Cup final.  Nothing worse than people go running round like a Duracell rabbit taking it ultra seriously.

This. There's running into space and then there is running around like a lunatic and taking the space away. I play at the back so my movement is usually very lateral unless there is an obvious run forward. Movement should be about providing options, not just moving for the sake of it.

  6. I can fully understand where he is coming from.

In a perfect world he resigns for the good of the club but we don't live in a perfect world where people are completely selfless. In an industry where your current job could quite easily be your last I can understand why you wouldn't just walk away.

That being said he did contribute to the downfall of the club, i'm just thankful now we seem to be on the up.

I have no ill will towards him at all.

I think I've answered my question about where you put your tackle in these crazy jeans.

There's  definitely no room for a Velcro wallet in the pockets though.

That is disgraceful although he may be doing the world a favor. His chances of reproducing effectively cannot be great.

Controlling a ball and having a poor first touch are not the same. That and his finishing needs work. When he had the ball he is hard to get the ball off. He will get better I'm almost certain of that

Controlling the ball is your first touch.....

Unless of course it's a first time pass......

It's not Di Matteo like though is it?

Give Bruce a few months.. after he has spent millions? Then what.. if it goes tits up, we are then stuck with shite he has signed. (Look @dont_do_it_doug. post a couple of pages back) Sunderland, Wigan, Hull all suffering after Bruce left - not cause of the managerial prowess of the guy, but the shit he leaves teams in when he leaves.

Who's morale will it damage? The first team? - half of them will be gone.

Terry for me won't cut it in the premier league at 37, sorry but he just won't, If you think he can then so will Hutton, Samba and Richards.

For me the Premier league has moved on rapidly since Bruce last managed there and if I was him I would take a leaf out of Neil Warnocks book. :)

Just so i'm clear on this. You are suggesting that If somebody believes that Terry will cut it in the Premier League then they must also believe that Hutton, Samba and Richards can?

Ahh, so it would be more off a Recon acquisition rather than Aston Villa?

I would have thought so. I'm not sure 'Aston Villa' can buy another football team.

This has Udinese/Watford or even Midtjylland/Brentford written all over it.

Fair point but he was about to make the change at 1-0. Not sure if he changed who he was going to take off though after the second went in.

Either way though, Onomah and Elmo for Snodgrass and Adomah isn't exactly changing the shape massively. We just switched off.

He was about to make the change in the 60th minute or so at 1-0. I think even at 2-0 it's way to soon to change the dynamics of the team by taking 2 keys players off and moving  people around the way he did.

He in affect made 3 changes and it changed the dynamics of the team and helped Burton get back in the game in my opinion.

Making like for like changes would have made more sense at that stage if it was about resting players.

Im happy we won and it's not a big deal. I just think the change at that stage of the game was a bit odd.

Against better opposition i'd be inclined to agree.

I think he thought, as we all did, that at 2-0 it was game over.

Normally we criticise him for making changes too late when we need a goal. Today he made changes way too early when we were in complete control.

    Strange.

Usually managers do make changes when the team is in complete control if they want to give players a rest, which he did.

Sheff Utd was a big effort from the team.

People won't want to hear this but I have read and heard a few reports that he is absolutely brilliant with the young players, helping them come through and settle with the first team squad. That he's essentially a £25k a week coach at this stage. And that his injuries have basically finished him, just not quite enough for a compo pay out.

Dumpster fire of a situation I know, but at least we're putting him to some use?

That Steve Bruce fella is a good man manager....
