  1. Whhheeeeen the ball hits the net with a joy much like sex, that’s Amooorriiiimmmm.
  2. Welcome to all the new Team Emery members. To the rest of you - come on in. The water is lovely.
  3. I can name many occasions credible reporters have got it wrong. With things like Poch, you tend to find one or two have spoken to a friend of Poch’s and the others are regurgitating the story. On top of that, things change by the hour. Poch telling his mates last week he probably isn’t interested may have been before conversations, promises, etc. I’m sure they’re not getting blow by blow updates on what’s happening.
  4. Odds are coming in on Emery I see.
  5. I can’t see how we’re not banging Villarreal’s door down for Unai. He has spades of everything we need and I would love to see. By far my number 1 candidate at this point I think.
  6. I think there was always a risk in getting our heads in the clouds thinking about Poch and Tuchel. Anyone else looks amateur compared to those, but this is the market we’re shopping in. We can go experienced - your Dyches, Rodgers and perhaps AVBs of the world - or we go ‘up and coming’. To a certain degree ‘up and coming’ is what we’ve gone for in recent years. It worked with Deano. It didn’t work with Gerrard, but can we say he was employed as an ‘up and comer’, or rather a ‘mate of Purslow’? Look at those names. Pochettino, came into this league via Southampton taking a punt on an ‘up and comer’. Why can’t we find one? Nothing is a given though. Watford can attest to that! If we’re going ‘big’ and experienced’ but realistic, I’ve made no secret about my love for Emery. But I’d also be happy with AVB.
  7. When looking at younger managers, just remember Gerrard got the opportunity to manage at the top because of his name and his playing career. He didn’t have to prove anything tactically or managerialy because of his playing career. Coaches like Amorim and Gallardo didn’t have that world class name or career. They’ve had to prove themselves as good coaches and managers to even make it to our list. Both are completely incomparable to Gerrard. Anyone is a risk, but they aren’t as Risky as Stevie G.
  8. Gallardo would be very interesting. I’m still team Ebening, but could be tempted.
  9. One consideration with Frank is the system he works in. It’s the system we attempted to replicate when Dean came across but ripped up for Gerrard. We can admire Frank all we want, but he’s not an island and getting him in would, and should mean we go back to our transfer policy of scouting and attracting young talent that can be coached to increase value. Frank’s name alone isn’t going to sign us 30 year old ex Liverpool players. I’d argue this needs to happen anyway, and questions about the whole set up, including the CEO, need to be asked in order to give the new manager the best environment.
  10. I’d really like Emery. I like his style and he has great experience and results. Let’s be fair though, I won’t be disappointed with Poch! I think both of those may be slightly out of reach which is why we’re now seeing names like Frank linked, which are potentially more realistic. Of course, we may face similar problems to Wolves who have clearly struggled to get someone in to manage them. Perhaps the managers aren’t out there or don’t want to move yet. We may have to have a temporary manager until after the World Cup. I very much hope not as that break is a superb opportunity for a new manager to work with the squad.
  11. Oh I’m personally very happy. Oh dear is what I imagine Purslow was thinking before he followed his boss.
  12. I’m still expecting someone to tell me he should get the Brentford and Newcastle games to turn things around. Let me save you some effort. No.
  13. Seems very upbeat and chipper pre-match. New 5 year deal knowing our luck.
  14. The big, worrying question for me is what happens tonight? What happens Sunday? When the writing was on the wall with Gerrard for a lot of people, he picked up a draw against Man City. That draw, and the subsequent performances, have done nothing to allay concerns people had, but nonetheless here we are, 5 games later still expecting him to ‘have the next 2 games’. I refused to believe we were acting on a short sighted ‘game by game’ basis, but what are we expecting tonight and Sunday? What if we take 3 points tonight from another woeful performance but with a Dougie in-swinger? You just feel it will buy him more time (amongst the board that is). I love this football club, and as yet I’ve never hoped we lose a game of football, but with the club increasingly looking like they’re clinging on to any short sighted way of keeping Gerrard in the job, it’s getting difficult. I hope we win tonight, but I’ll be happy if we lose. Although, that still doesn’t guarantee an end to this mess.
  15. He’s in the footage from today’s training. Looks like it’s at least another 90 full minutes of pain.
  16. Pub have confirmed it’s him. Mainstream media picking up on it now. Well, I say mainstream.. The Daily Mail. Not a great look - not because he’s not allowed a social life but because he does look absolutely hammered.
  17. Football Insider have deleted their breaking news. Edit: On Twitter. The article still exists on the website.
  18. I want a few years of stability and improvement. Whilst I love Poch - who wouldn’t - I feel he might be the first manager since the Industrial Revolution to go on to better things from us. I think we’d constantly be looking over our shoulder for a ‘name’ to come and take him away. Largely due to that I think I’d probably prefer Emery. He’s less ‘Hollywood’ than Poch and you feel he’d properly buy into the project, providing that longer term stability. I dunno. I might be wrong but I feel we’ll go back to the Grealish saga of panicking every window that someone’s going to steal our guy with Poch. We’ll then end up starting again. Again. Lovely problem to have, mind.
  19. One problem the club currently have is this is holding everything else up. Take the crests for example. I read they need to be picked by end of this month to allow time for branding for next season. I’m sure they wanted to release the two picks for a vote by now, but they face the problem of ‘rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic’. Every time we ‘give him the next game’, we have to ask why? I won’t believe we operate on a game to game basis. What does delaying his departure for the next week achieve aside from delaying other projects at the club. What do you need to see against Fulham or Brentford to make the last year OK? I don’t think there is anything. I can only believe that the club knows they’re sacking him, they just don’t know when. They’re not waiting to see if he’ll turn it around, they are waiting for something else. Maybe that successor. But they can’t keep kicking this can down the road - there’s a club to run.
  20. Probably just the presser for Thursday? As much as I’d welcome Purslow sat next to Absolutelyanyone.
  21. Did anyone see the owners? Even they’re too bored by our football to attend.
