How much has Rooney cost them I’d be interested to know, 3.5 year deal they’ll have had to pay up, plus the back room and coaching staff he will have brought in (assuming he did bring some in), you’d think given their financial woes it’s going to hamstring them somewhat further.

Ah that’s a shame, it was fun whilst it lasted though!
Slightly worried they’ll entice someone decent like Cooper but hoping they look for another ‘big name’ and give it to Sol Campbell or something.

Just need QPR or Sheff Weds to put some results together now, fingers crossed Wednesday can make the man advantage count in the second half

I thought it was a penalty (only because you see so many of those incidents given every week). Bet Arteta was raging though considering Luiz cleaning out Jesus in the box three weeks ago was dismissed even after VAR looked at it.
Same as Zat though in that we were very fourtunate Carlos didn't get a red, Foster was about to get in and have a shot centrally and the hand pushed the ball back so it was a bit wider when he finally shot so certainly falls under denial of goalscoring opportunity.
The handball probably aided Foster getting on the end of it, which he did and probably should have scored. I don’t know how you could send Carlos off for denial of a goalscoring opportunity when the play became exactly that, a goalscoring opportunity, which Foster missed. Should have been brought back by the on field official for a free kick and a yellow card, no reason for VAR to intervene any further.
Our penalty was soft and whilst I agree with Lineker that it’s a dive - it’s what I consider a dive - the fact that the likes of Kane have been doing this for years now and not being called out for it by the same people is somewhat galling to hear.
Its the swings and roundabouts theory proved true in my opinion, the soft penalty against Burnley was our cosmic reward for being shafted multiple times against Sheff United.

Lindelhof gets a new contract
I’m sure I read last week how this new regime would be putting an end to the needless and expensive contract extensions, that’s going well then.

Luiz has been pretty poor / quiet thus far.
I’m trying to stave off memories of Macheda here, fingers crossed we get the next goal.

Inoue needs to start fighting outside of Japan now to build his profile, he’s immense, the speed and power is phenomenal, like a young Pacquiao.
His poise and balance is solid, seems to be able to take a punch, he took a few this morning, great watch every time though, and handy that his profile isn’t yet so big that it’s not PPV.

Scary isn't he? He's balanced, his footwork is fantastic, he's clever and he can put you away with a single blow or dismantle you over a few rounds - I wonder how far up the weight categories he'll be prepared to go in order to find a challenge.
Only so far he can go before his power becomes nullified, I’d say maybe one more step up, max two but he may be levelling out at SuperBantam.
Can see this guys taking his power already fairly well.

Inoue fighting now on sky for second set of undisputed titles, perhaps the best P4P on the planet currently

I’m feeling optimistic, I think that late Zaniolo goal will have played a major part in our mindset going into tomorrow.
May depend a little on who is or isn’t available but it should suit us more to play a team that will go for it themselves, I’m hoping that their poor result combined with Christmas Day might have them somewhat distracted for tomorrow, hoping.

Guessing he could be out for a while anyway now as he seemed to do his shoulder / collarbone toward the end of the match

It was just bound to happen wasn’t it? I should have put money on, was literally thinking earlier in the day yesterday about him scoring in the 86th min to either equalise or worse, the latter proving true of course.

I’m sure we’ll be getting an apology from PGMOL in the coming days, at least one of the four key decisions (3 x penalties and 1 x disallowed goal) should have gone our way. The Watkins one for me was the most blatant but the handball not given comes close and I’m amazed that our disallowed goal was deemed a clear and obvious mistake.

I think he slotted in fine, it’s barely a criticism to say he doesn’t have the passing range of a player who’s fast becoming known as one of the best passing centre backs in the country.

Well, sequences come to an end.
Typical that it was against probably the easiest on-paper opposition we’ve faced during the run, perhaps on a par with Luton.
We dominated the game up until the 70th minute or so when we seemed to get nervous and slack, Sheff United grew into the game and my pre-match nightmare of Archer scoring the winning goal in the 86th minute almost came all too true.
Thankfully Zaniolo had other ideas and somewhat spared our blushes.
We didn’t shoot enough, overplayed it at times and lacked the kind of incisive passing we now have with Torres and Tielemans in the side. All that being said we should have had at least one penalty, the Watkins one early on baffles me, he was clearly shoved in the back with the ball coming toward him, that we then get a goal disallowed for a little bit of arm holding on their keeper is a joke.
Frustrating, I think like others I went into tonight feeling nervous, wondering if we’d choke in the big moment. I don’t think we choked as such but it’s a sobering reminder that we’re not a top team, despite currently competing at the top. But that Zaniolo goal makes it just about bearable at least and softens the blow heading into Christmas, fingers crossed we bounce back at Old Trafford and if so, tonight’s result will be quickly forgotten.

The only person who looks even more unhappy when he’s scored a goal

Has there even been a ‘monopoly break up’ that’s actually benefited the general public?
Its always dressed up as being a good thing but then hits us all in the pocket.
I’m no fan of UEFA but I’m struggling to see any good coming out of this.

West Ham were dreadful

Pretty deflating news to not be replacing the north stand, wonder how much the bankruptcy of Birmingham council has played a part in this (probably answered in the previous 20 pages but can’t be arsed to trawl through).

So we have what, four different badges now and this one’s a total joke.
Emery out.

So much more enjoyable to watch football without VAR

Because he put his hand on the face of a Brentford player and I think that is just an automatic red card.
Yep, and also why it almost certainly will not be overturned or even appealed against I suspect.

One of those two teams has been found to have broken the financial rules over a hundred times. The other has not.
I’d suggest it’s fair game to not be too critical of any team for not winning many trophies during the ‘City era’.
