Sterling playing so well might hopefully make city think twice about letting him leave and cool their interest in jack

If we can get a player of this calibre, you have to give it to our owner's , the money they spent improving training facility , top academy of young talent and everything around the club that no doubt players are taking notice of if they are linked to us

How exactly does release clause work, is agent of the player allowed to make this information available to other clubs ? Feels very much like club believes a clause is in the region and are bidding with that in mind

I feel like I want this to happen but have we honestly seen enough to justify around 35 million on this guy?
Yes

You realise there is more than one game a season? The season is long, there will be many different reasons that either or both could play. If we are to progress as a club we have to stop fixating on just the first XI but at least a strong 18-20 players because things happen. You mention the 90's you seem to be thinking of the 90's in terms of squad as well
There is no getting around it , one of them must be first choice , you can pretend all you like that we would rotate them every other game but that's not gonna happen, I agree with the point we need depth to our squad
A: bring in a significant upgrade to Ollie , which Tammy is not
b: bring in an outside forward that is comfortable down the middle, which Tammy is not
bring a young hungry forward from a lesser club that is more than happy to wait for his opportunity, which Tammy is not
bring an older forward on wrong side of his career that is more then happy let Ollie be main man and help him along the way
This only way I personally can see us adding to the squad

Tammy options
We play Ollie in a different position to last season , when he was unbelievable in that position.
We drop Ollie and bring in Tammy up top.
We put Tammy on bench as back up, tammy will not be happy and probably cause unrest around the squad .
Before someone says play 2 up top we are not in the 90s anymore

Tammy aside, what or who is credible source these days? Percy seems to be agreed on but after that? I though Fab was but they’ve been some disagreement on him over the weekend. There aren’t many these days…I would say Sky is credible from those experts and only ok when something actually is happening.
I respect your fan boying really hard right now nick but

Oh so you don’t agree, great! All these clubs have far greater depth in the squad than we do. Spurs alone had attackers Kane, Son, Vinicius, Bale, Moura, Bergwijn and Lamela in the advanced positions. You can argue all want around positions but those were their squad attacking line up. So your “barely any team” is bogus. You can do the same for other teams…Arsenal..Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nkeitah just in the centre forward position alone they can play.
How do you aim for Europe if you don’t have the tools to get there. Hoping to overachieve with a small squad is likely to fail.
You want to get European qualification and then buy players to be a European qualification team. I want to buy a European qualification level team to get a European place.
We have different strategies and both think we are right. It’s not up to us but I think the club are going my direction than yours.
The club's you mentioned are being run into the ground, need to be smart and calculated with our transfer business, yes investment is needed but you don't throw a load of cash to solve problems that don't exist,
For example spurs like who you mentioned have serious problems at CB and they go bring bale at start of last season to sit on bench, it was insanity.

I find it amazing that supporters are writing off a 23 yr old striker with two years experience playing full time as a striker in the PL, who is no where near the finished article.
Different games suit different strikers and to have either Abrahams or Watkins on the bench to change things in a game when required would put us ahead of most teams in the league. Sometimes you need the ability to change things during a game, something we weren’t able to do in many games last season.
Do I believe the rumour, No, Smith said he would be waiting until preseason to determine where Wesley is at, but nothing would surprise me.
I've never been a fan of him, no doubt his goals got us up but feel he doesn't work half as much as Ollie.
The Abrahams thing really bugs me, always hear it in commentary, where has the s come from?

Watkins will start every game up front if fit and not suspended, like last season. We're not signing Tammy for 40m to provide competition and he wouldn't want to come "to fight for the shirt".
This why someone like Alvarez makes a lot more sense, fee is much lower , covers up top if need be and a lot more potential

Jim white , name your dodgy source or step down ! we all knew he was full of **** before yesterday but this really has made him look pathetic

We are right back at that point in O'Neill time when we needed to invest to push forward and we let our best talent leave, we all know how that ended, we keep jack and push on

I'm really impressed with our transfer targets this season.
Anyway, this guy is very fast player with great ball control and an eye for goal - If we wanted to start a fast counter give this player the ball.

Everyone is suddenly saying Edouard again. Has there been a link or is it just because the Leicester move has seemingly fallen through with them going for Daka?
Think people are just intrigued, if a player of that calibre that doesn't really demand a crazy fee becomes available, it is definitely worth looking at

7 mcginn , 77?

Not the type of signing that's gonna most excited but dose make us stronger in a position we were weak in last season , so I'm not opposed to it

Perfectly fine with this. A veteran presence in and around the dressing room, which is something Smith obviously values, that adds depth in a number of positions for a minimal outlay that means we can allocate transfer funds for players more likely to start in the first eleven.
I'd prefer if he wasn't around our young talent , telling them tails of how he left villa , won premier League and all types of trophies
