Don't agree. It's not nationality that relevant, it's ability and approach and motivation and loads of other stuff. Sean Dyche, Eddie Howe, Gareth Southgate, Chris Hughton..  all English managers who have those things and a "modern" approach to managing players and to coaching and tactics etc. There are plenty of others who don't of course. Just the same as with foreign managers.

In some cases, being English is an advantage - not least in settling in, in relating to the league and the players and so on. The younger English managers now are different to the past, to the older ones, because they have to be properly qualified. Previously they almost got jobs based on playing reputation, or name recognition. It's less like that now.

But even in the past, Mercer, Saunders, Barton, Taylor, Atkinson, Little, Gregory etc. have done good or superb jobs at Villa. We've had some less good English and Scottish managers, too, obviously, but then again, for various reasons Remi Garde, Dr. Jo weren't successful. Nationality isn't and shouldn't be a factor.

Do they? dyche and houghton are good managers but I wouldnt say they have a modern aproach Southgate has been around a long time his  boro days were not that good international management is different just ask chris coleman . eddie howe has done a good job but I wonder if he could do it out of his comfort zone of  bournmouth, young exciting managers pop up as quick as they dissapear , Lambert, Sherwood  to name a few

I think reasoning behind Collins is he has played alongside Chester for Wales at International Level and look pretty solid together.

Both was in the defence that took Wales to Semi Final of Euro's 2 years ago! Collins been on the decline rapidly since then.

For the majority of the tournament it was a back 3 of Chester ,Ben Davies, Willams

That moment when Bruce screams at Elmo to find a pass and stop putting nothing balls into the channel. Have you not watched him for the past 7 years?

Still, he played well. He's not a right back but he does a job when you don't have to defend much. You know what you're gonna get.

    He is'nt a midfielder either

  4. He has to start simply because he does not rely on service he can scor out of nothing which is an asset in a team that does not create much ,  its like Bruce cant wait to drop him for players he brought in it was his intention with Hogan , he couldnt get ahed o Grabban when he came back from injury

  6. We have a second string caplable of wining the efl on paper! kodja hourihane , bolasie on the bench Henri Lansbury cant even get on the bench for the leauge we are in we have the same level of depth Man City have for the prem, 5 games without a win? We should be on a 5 game win streak! Bruce out!

  7. Its likely like last season he will accidentaly hit a run of form due to a few injurys and so on, Elmo , Tunzabe ,Jedinnak getting hurt would probably force him to play players in their correct position but expect them to be straight back in when back, th gus has no clue he picks his mates if your not his guy your screwed

  8. I think Kodja will go on a scoring run from now but could easily bs injured again the amount of times he gets taken out an clutches hea anckle , hence the reason we need back up as good as him there is no reason why we cant play 2 up front from time to time either

Not sure it's his fault, but it was a pretty crap attempt at clearing it off the line.

If he goes with his head or his foot then he clears that. It seemed like he went with his arm before remembering you can't do that.

If that's John Terry then it doesn't go in.

This ! In football manager stats Bravery 4 , Determination 4, Work Rate 4 , John Terry 20,20,20

Did more than kodjia to cause them problems in his short spell on the pitch, of course you have to factor in weary vs fresh legs n all that.

He looked bigger and more imposing than the last time I saw him.

I've got a feeling he might be a surprise package for us this season, if he can stay fit.

Yes he's definetly streched and filled out a bit and looks less of a 14 year old looks an intelligente player

It wasn’t a goodbye, just a usual acknowledgment of the fans for applauding him. I don’t think it’s possible to read anything into that at all.

As for fighting back tears, the lad was pouring with sweat and had a huge grin on his face at the end as we’d won the game.

If there was any deal remotely imminent then he wouldn’t have been risked tonight. Of course a last minute £40m bid might come in and he’s aware of that but the idea that the decision is Jack’s to make at this stage is nonsense. He’s playing the waiting game just like we are.

This post made feel better , my missus just asked me earlier if we lost, beign Villa im used to losing players but this guy .......

Didn't he play against Felipe Anderson? One of the best players in Serie A last few seasons.

Jordan Verretout was one of Serie A  best players last season
