  1. There should be a queue of plays interested in joining us. Not just in this window either.
  2. All this shows is that he should have a good future in football. Looking good at the u18 & u23 levels does not mean he is ready for the first team now. At 16 years old he is not physically mature and in our Premier League you need physical strength, athleticism and skill. At 16 he is still growing physically and therefore his athleticism is developing also. He certainly has skill but over exposure at senior level - before he is is physically and athletically ready - is a serious risk. I think he is too good to risk it.
  3. Why do you think this? The risk is great therefore many in football believe much care should be taken over youth development. But if you have sound, substantial, reasons please share.
  4. Jimmy Brown joined our youth set up (mid 1960s) when he left school in Scotland. He had been captain of Scotland schoolboys football and was seen as the next ‘great’ to come out of Scotland. We were in a desperate situation then so he was called on to make his debut just before his 16th birthday - I was there and he did look good. He was then played again and seemed to be treated as a regular first teamer. He burned out very quickly and eventually left us. No one can be sure that he would have been a ‘great’ but early exposure did him no favours.
  5. Be careful what you wish for. Are you old enough to remember Jimmy Brown?
  6. We’ve had plenty about Coutinho and Digne/Hickey but who are the favourites for new DM?
  7. Spot on. Back to glass half full v glass half empty. As far as Villa is concerned I’m glass half full and always will be.
  8. No we are not Barca, Bayern, Liverpool or Brazil …….. at present. I am old enough to remember Villa beating the first three. Our owners are very ambitious so I back their plans to push us forward and to do this we must recruit top players now. Thank goodness they don’t have the glass half empty negativity you seem to demonstrate.
  9. Do you really mean cream your jeans?
  10. Very quickly if we buy the rest of the Brazil team topped up with a couple from Argentina!
  11. Being so desperate they could include a few without.
  12. Now I know you’re in dreamland. And those on here calling for a DM really would go ballistic.
  13. Or are they really Villa fans? Jealous ‘other fans’ stirring the pot comes to mind.
  14. Probably Ocho Rios (aka Ochi) or perhaps Dunn’s River Falls on a raft!
  15. Some think he’s good enough to play CDM - either way we need to tie him down on a long term contract ASAP.
  16. There’s another old saying which comes to mind made famous by Freddie Trueman: “if you’ve got a big nail you need a big hammer”. But of course a small nail needs only a small hammer!
  17. Spot on. SG has said we are not interested in just increasing numbers so new players must be better than we already have.
  18. It’s not the size it’s how you use it.
  19. The point I am making is that the approach taken by NWSE, since their takeover, is more professional than what went on before. I have not said that NWSE are not professional - I believe they are in all things they do. There have been, and always will be, leaks from agents but I am sure there were leaks from Bodymoor prior to the ownership change.
  20. So true. Leaks out of Bodymoor seem have dried up underlining a more professional approach to transfers.
  21. I’d be far more than disappointed. Our team - other than Martinez - is mid table only so I’m expecting big improvements starting this window. Also I’m sure our ambitious owners are looking to move our club into top 6 then top 4. Anything less than this and they are wasting time and money: men like these do not do either willingly.
