  1. I really think it is a coincidence. We became far more defensive as the season progressed, as we were way too open and conceding goals for fun. The knock-on effect of this change was that we created less, and so, scored fewer goals. Nothing to do with Wesley's absence IMO. Let's not forget he went nearly 15 games without scoring before the Burnley game in which he got injured.
  2. Played 29 of the 38 games. Anyway, if you think it's impossible to say who's better out of Alisson and Henderson, I think we'll just agree to disagree!
  3. I strongly disagree on Henderson. He's been good, and it's difficult to compare keepers with outfield players but he's nowhere near Jack's class. Pulisic and Greenwood will be top players, but they've only really exploded towards the end of the season.
  4. The main transfer window closes on Oct 5th. Can only buy from EFL clubs after that
  5. Because since the last internationals James has excelled, becoming Chelsea's starting RB, and Aarons has been relegated as part of the worst defence in the league. Aarons is talented but if you think he's getting an England call-up any time soon you're deluded.
  6. TAA, Walker, Trippier, Wan Bissaka, and Reece James are currently ahead of him in the pecking order so he might be waiting a while yet!
  7. Konsa isn't really Premier League proven though is he? Everyone seems to be raving about him after a couple of decent performances late in the season, but we had the 2nd worst defence in the league, and he played his part in that!
  8. Martin Odegaard. He's just had a fantastic season on loan at Real Sociedad. Way out of our league sadly
  9. I'd like to see us go for Fabian Schar. Good centre-half, wouldn't cost a whole lot, and could see Newcastle selling him, as he was strangely left out at times last season. Part-exchange for Elmo?
  10. Strange that Everton are even going for him as Lucas Digne is by far their best player IMO
  11. He's far better than Wesley, Samatta and Davis
  12. Fair enough, but Tammy would cost around £50m, which would be a huge risk given what he produces. I really don't think the players I mentioned would be any riskier at circa £25m
  13. I'd like for us to have Tammy, but he's not the first cousin of a £50m footballer. I'm glad you weren't in charge when we signed "major risks" like Yorke, Laursen, Mellberg, Bouma, Benteke, Carew, Petrov, Douglas Luiz, etc
  14. Buying locally doesn't guarantee we'll get it right though, does it? Countless players with Premier League experience fail too - Lescott, Richards, Richardson, Sinclair, Drinkwater, etc. The number one criteria should be to buy the best players available, regardless of where they're from
  15. I think this is an extremely narrow-minded way of recruiting players. Just because we've recruited poorly from overseas doesn't mean we should limit ourselves to buying locally. Wesley, Trezeguet, Nakamba, etc are poor footballers; it's nothing to do with adapting to the league. Drinkwater, McCormack, Baston, etc had experience of the leagues they were bought to play in. It doesn't mean they should be signed.
  16. No more than Dimitri Payet, Ngolo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, Bruno Fernandes, Ricardo Pereira and a million others were
  17. Sorry, I was referring to you saying that £25m will get you 6-10 goals. I think there are far better deals to be done if we recruit wisely. People always mention the Joelintons, etc, but these are extremely poor signings, they're not the benchmark for £40m attackers. Off the top of my head, Andrej Kramaric, Florian Thauvin, Arkadiusz Milik, Paco Alcacer, Gerard Moreno, Filip Kostic, Quincy Promes, Kevin Volland, Bruno Henrique, Viktor Tsygankov, Edin Visca, and Giorgian De Arrascaeta are all really good attacking players that would cost far less than £40m.
  18. I think you are very wrong! Samatta and Wesley have been poor for us, and their goal returns are very disappointing for our investment. I'd certainly want more than 6 goals for £25m, and I think our consistently poor recruitment has lowered our expectations - there are loads of good players out there, we just rarely sign them! I'd also want far better than Tammy for £50m, as much as I like him.
  19. Because Timo Werner is an absolute mile better than Tammy
  20. In fairness to Zatman, Campana has been quality for the last couple of seasons. Arsenal and Sevilla linked with him for a long time.
