One of the very rare cases where a monochrome badge was the right choice. Would have looked a bit odd with their regular blue one. Apparently they played in green and black when they fist started.

    Really nice shirt that

Apart from the beer service my mate said Springsteen was the best concert he has ever been to so I think people put up with stuff as long as the performers do their bit!  A bit like Villa we win no one really cares they could not get a pie or pint at HT 😜

    Speak for yourself 😉

Food and drink service? or something else?

Largely food and drink service, but also generally being unorganised and a bit chaotic. All adding up to a feeling that the event was not worth anything like the money paid for it.

Villa Park as a concert venue will obviously competing with other large arenas in the area which are much more established for this type of event, so real effort will be needed from the club if they see this as a permanent means of generating income

EDIT: just to add to this, one person told me that the general experience of the Springsteen gig was absolutely lightyears behind that of gigs at the Ricoh

  4. Have heard nothing but negative feedback from the various people I know who have gone to gigs at the stadium this summer, largely for reasons that we would all recognise. If the club wants to maintain this as a revenue stream long term (and justify the vast price increases in match day tickets over the past few seasons), they really need to put some work into improving facilities and the general experience within the stadium

It just seems likely, modern design/trend and whatnot…

    What exactly would you prefer?

Tbh literally anything other than a standalone lion. Can't think of a single simplified standalone club crest that I think looks good

If it was based on looks we'd never see McGinn in a Villa shirt ever again 🤣

He's not getting picked over Dougie any time soon in this scenario, but luckily for SJM our midfield is much less stacked with dishy chaps than the defence

Here's one: the Brummie and black country accents actually ARE essentially the same.

I've worked in Wolves for five years and still occasionally struggle to understand the locals. I suppose you might say the two accents are a bit like French and Italian, related and mutually comprehensible to a degree

Looking from a slightly different angle at cricket.

Birmingham Bears and Warwickshire are simplistic but instantly recognisable.

I'm sure we could do something with just the lion, modernise it maybe?

ye, will be a contract termination, running down his contract until release, or loan until contract expires.

wont see a penny for him i dont think.

12 months left on his contract isnt there?

No idea, but almost certainly has to go down as one of our worst value signings ever. No fault of his own, was signs that he was adapting to the PL but that injury completely finished him off at the top level

Need to have a bit of a clear out before Emery's refurb of the squad time for Wesley to go get a couple of million for him

He's just come back from a year struggling in the Spanish second division, no one is paying a couple of million for him

All my English relatives in Brum (mostly around Handsworth) or who have moved to other parts of the UK or who have emigrated are either Villa or Albion fans -- and that is it. Never Blues and certainly not clubs from Manchester or Merseyside, never, Jesus no. There's probably a little more love for Albion among my cousins. Villa are seen as more upscale.

This would make sense as Handsworth is pretty much half way between Villa Park and the Hawthorns. You generally wouldn't find many Blues fans in areas north of the city centre, while a lot of areas towards the west of the city (Handsworth, Great Barr, Quinton etc) tend to be a mix of Villa and Albion, that is amongst people support local teams anyway.

You're more likely to find Blues fans in areas to the south and east of the city - Northfield, Longbridge, Chelmsley Wood, Stechford etc. would be areas I'd say you'd find the highest concentration of SHA supporters.

The rest of the city beyond that is a bit of a mix really, when I was living around King's Heath and Stirchley, it seemed to be a fairly even split of Villa and Blues

Didn’t someone hide in bushes at a training ground to see what the opposition were planning a while back?  Can’t remember which team it was.

Was Leeds under Bielsa, pretty sure it was before a game against Derby which gave the fixture a bit of edge when they met in then play offs, which in turn arguably helped us get promoted! Still don't think we'd have beaten Leeds in the play off final

This is fascinating and terrifying in equal measure

Obvious joke being that as Oasis spent their whole career writing the same song over and over again, it makes them an easy group for AI to replicate 😁

  14. Growing up in Sutton in the 90s it was almost exclusively Villa fans, with a smattering of glory supporters following Man Utd, and to a much lesser degree Liverpool. I knew more WBA fans than Blues fans and honestly can't ever recall meeting a Wolves fan in my life until I started working there a few years ago.

I'd say that a clear majorities of football fans in Sutton, Erdington and Kingstanding are Villa, perhaps up to 75%. It's a lot less clear cut in other parts of the city and as others have pointed out, the more ethnically diverse inner city areas will now have lots of glory supporters of Sky 6 clubs.

You'll find more Villa fans in areas which are traditionally more Blues-leaning, than you will Blues fans in Villa areas

How very dare you speak that way about Metallica. They are THE greatest band on Earth.

I've read some bad takes on VT over the years, and this one is right up there with some of the very worst tbh

Back when he was League 2 with Plymouth, Conor mentioned his ambition was to play in the Premier League one day. Some rando laughed at him on Twitter and it clearly hit a nerve.

Fast forward a few years, and Conor is now an integral part of a Villa team that’s just won promotion to the PL. How does Conor celebrate? He whips out the phone, goes on Twitter, and solidly rubs it in the rando from years ago’s face.

Petty, yes. But Conor had to graft to make it professionally, he never forgot what he had to do, and the level of determination he has will be very useful when transmitted to the U16s.

    Welcome back Conor.

Even better, the random bloke on Twitter was a Villa fan as well
