See this argument I just don't get it...
The definition of a big club these days is global reach; PL is the best league in the World according to FIFA rankings, SPL is 17/18th.
Take a look at the social media pages of both clubs are draw a comparison. Again the difference is vast e.g. Tottenham = 15m, Celtic = 740k.
Sponsorship, money, players all are a higher standard and hence Tottenham are a bigger club, things have changed drastically.
Celtic and Rangers fans are forever talking about how the clubs are global powerhouses yet they really aren't; they consistently find their players and managers poached to improve and progress their own careers.
You'll find Celtic and Rangers themed bars all around the world, Spurs may have an inflated social media following from their recent success and being in the PL, but they will never be on the same planet as the old firm.
Ajax are constantly having their players and managers nicked as well, but I suppose they're a tiny club because their domestic league isn't one that has been flooded with TV money as well

I don't really get this logic...someone has to win the thing
And this year an English team who were in a relegation battle most the season won it. So you'd think potential signings will look at us, an English club managed by a guy with several European trophies to his name, and will see us as strong contenders/potential favourites to win a European trophy. Should provide a boost to our recruitment this year that we wouldn't have had if we finished 8th.
Of course, that's until we lose to some Albanian team in the qualifiers

Think it's probably a good thing for us that West Ham won tonight, players could well start looking at us as a decent chance at winning a European tournament. Can't wait!

Got to wonder what’s next for him, could go the way of Dele Alli
He's the original Dele Alli. 30 years old now but perpetually a promising youngster. Absolutely finished at PL level, wouldn't be surprised if he retires in his early 30s a la Gabby tbh

Ange Postecoglou allegedly taking on the manager’s role
Think he’s a good manager but as we found out, the Scottish leagues are worlds apart from the Prem (and probably Spurs fan’s expectations)
it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on.
Good manager and a world apart from Gerrard, but it does have the feel of Potter to Chelsea for me tbh. Really can't see him lasting the season at Spurs with their fans' unrealistic expectations and unbalanced squad

It's a strange decision this year because it's not as though they've had a particularly dominant or record-breaking season. There have definitely been occasions when Guardiola has been the best performing manager in the league, not this season for me though

Just shown this to my mom. She has no interest in football whatsoever, but it turns out she was aware of the recent videos of players from other clubs ignoring young fans or at least being lukewarm in their interactions with them.
Video had us both crying at the end and she said what a lovely and genuine man that Tyrone appears to be. Lovely to see how well all the players interacted with Lucy and it just serves as evidence that we are taking character into account when signing players these days.
There are very few people who can claim to have done as much as Tyrone in getting this club back where it belongs, and even fewer who can claim as much credit for changing the culture of the place from the toxic mess that it had become. As much a Villa legend as anyone else who has played for us in the past 30 years, I love the guy and hope he's here for the rest of his top flight career.

Tyrone. Professional to a tee throughout some truly atrocious treatment that I'm convinced cost him his one chance at a World Cup.
Has then been colossal under Emery, showing his true ability and had proven so many people wrong.
Still under appreciated by even our own fans and underestimated by opposition fans.
Has had a great season on the pitch, and has been exemplary off of it.
My captain.

He would murder every single one of our squad in a 5 a side apart from maybe Buendia. While he seemingly cannot dominate a game anymore due to fitness / age / determination/ bad luck his close control would be impossible to deal with. Every Villa player when asked says Coutinho when they want to know the most skillful.
Would love to watch him play Kiwi.
Talented player no doubt, but can he do it on a cold Tuesday evening at powerleague?

Some big confident calls for Iwobi in the comments. But 'Korts' has to be up there as a possibility?
No chance, whoever this is can actually rap. Kortneys dreadful

I've been reading and posting on that forum for more than 15 years. Like all football forums it has it's characters and WUMs but it's a pretty balanced place overall. If you cherry pick hard enough you're going to prove any conclusion you've already come to.
I'm not being hyperbolic by saying that it's almost certainly the least balanced football fan forum I've ever come across, and I include SHA in that

Think the club have to be very careful with stuff like this tbh, a bit like the price increases this season. Not a good look at all

It’s odd that we’ve given so much up, and put up with outrageous corruption and lying from the government without a fight… but when George Floyd was killed in America there were millions on the streets of the UK.
I wonder if it really was something that resonated with the people more than the other things, or was it mainly an excuse to get out of the house during a pandemic?
A lot of people have America-brain. It's a serious problem on all sides of our politics and majorly holds us back IMO.
I suspect you're right and the pandemic was a factor, by contrast very little protest over what happened to Dalian

Maybe. I can't for the life of me see how Just Stop Oil targeting the snooker is remotely a sensible move.
If it is genuinely JSO, this sort of thing just undoes any actual good work that they might be doing.
They doing any actual good work? Genuine question, I'm yet to see any evidence of it

3.57% of domestic cats are hit by cars per year. What amount of cat deaths is acceptable for entertainment purposes of their owners? Could more be done to prevent unnecessary harm?
Sounds more like an argument for better road safety than against the domestication of cats or as a gotcha for animal rights arguments against the Grand National tbh.
Spoken as someone who hates the little furry bastards

Just Stop Oil have stopped play at the snooker just now. Link (Metro).
QuoteA protestor jumped on the table during a match at the World Snooker Championship on Monday evening, blasting orange powder over the baize.
The first round match between Rob Milkins and Joe Perry was interrupted as a protestor wearing a ‘Just Stop Oil’ protest leapt on the table.
He opened a small bag which sent orange powder all over the table before he was hauled off.
My one crank opinion is that this lot might just be paid agents of the state employed to garner support for the UK govs draconian attempts to curb the right to protest tbh

Ten goals now for us and has a record of a goal every 8 games or so. Considering about 25 of them games were sub appearances its quite an impressive record
Without going OTT in comparison his record is similar to Lampard at a similar age who is probably best goalscoring midfielder in English football history
When the ball falls to Ramsey in a decent position you just back him every time to score. His record is more like 1 in 5 when you account for minutes played
