  1. Comparing Archer and Watkins is a bit silly, different players mature at different times.

The argument does work both ways though - at 21 Ollie managed 6 goals in 52 games for Exeter City in League Two. Archer has demonstrated he is more than capable of scoring at Championship level much earlier in his career than Ollie did.

But then Ollie was playing out wide back then and managed 13 assists as well in those 52 games, it remains to be seen whether Archer will ever be as good at creating chances and bringing others into play.

Silly argument to make, nice problem to have.

Id rather liverpool over city any day. City are a vile club

Said it before but I'd rather Liverpool win every trophy going for the rest of time than see City win anything ever again. Will never get over them emptying out of Wembley in the League Cup final before the trophy had even been presented, while we stayed to applaud the players off the pitch.

The very definition of plastic, I hate them.

Edit: for the sake of staying on topic, Gerrard is still a word removed and I loved it when he slipped on his arse

Asswipe then blew his own head off.

This is now so common the above post didn't get a single reply in ten hours.

Only way to solve this if there were more guns in society, clearly.

    Mental. And depressing.

I understand, no need to be so condescending!! How many men would actually report sexaul assault is what you should be asking, not many I'm guessing, doesn't mean it don't happen.

How many of the 2% of all sex offenders who are female abused someone alongside a male partner. I'd wager its a good chunk of them

It's a bit weird because you seem to be much closer to the position of the women who have concerns about this issue, but then can't admit the feminists have might have a good point about something

The problem is not men at all. The problem is society.

If you said women are the problem, you would be cained, so please be careful blaming men for everything.

98% of sex offenders are men. On this issue, men are most definitely the problem.

Edit - as per data from the Crime Survery for England and Wales

    Quote

In 2011, males accounted for the vast majority of prosecutions for sexual offences

(98.2 per cent). More specifically, males aged 18 and over accounted for 89.7 per

cent of proceedings for sexual offences, with similar proportions for rape (89.6 per

cent) and sexual assault (89.2 per cent) proceedings

People forget now because of the career he's gone on to have, but before he left us a lot of our fans were very negative about him.

I'd had my doubts about him, but the last 7 or 8 months he was here he consistently looked our best and most committed player every time he managed to get on the pitch. Would do more in 20 minutes than the rest of the team managed over the whole 90, then wouldn't get on til the 85th minute the next week.

Given how shit we were around then, I suspect lots who didn't particularly rate him as a world beater had come to the conclusion that he deserved a new contract. He clearly offered a lot more than the players he was competing with for a squad place.

Whether it was Lambert being stubborn, Lerner refusing to cough up the funds or a combination of both, the whole thing stank

Excellent. Is she still available because good babysitters these days are hard to find.

Yes mate, tbh there is a lot to be said for an older babysitter. I reckon the problem is you've been employing younger ladies in the hope of getting some teenage kicks

I think he believed his own hype

I've always doubted whether he'll ever establish himself as part of the first team here, but have never once picked up on any indication that this might be the case

Jack Black is a very underrated musician

You've got a point here. Think playing the Jack Black role holds him back from being as good a musician as he could be though

Even the South has plenty of very deprived towns. Places like the Isle of Sheppey in Kent or Plymouth in Devon.

In England, at least, the Leave vote in the Brexit referendum is a pretty good proxy for it.

When the Indices of Deprivation gets published every four years or so, coastal areas around the south east and south west of England always feature heavily in the lists of the most deprived neighbourhoods/local authorities.

Coastal towns are interesting because in the UK urban poverty tends to look very different from rural poverty, but coastal towns and cities generally have features of both

On a scale of 1-10. One being there's absolutely no chance he's at Villa in September of this year, requesting a transfer in a fit of rage because Emery gave him a dirty look six years ago, and 10 being he's signed a new 100 year contract and we've named the new North Stand the Martinez Monument, where do you think we stand?

I'm am eight. I'm sure he'll be here still, but I'm very slightly concerned.

I look at it the same way as I did with Jack when we got promoted. Think he's here for a few more seasons but will likely move on in a couple of years if the club is unable to match his ambitions.

Do think Emi is genuinely grateful to the club and feels a sense of loyalty as a result

That Detroit comparison does make sense in some ways, for sure, with carbuilding, but Detroit, well, it's a different planet, sadly. It has roughly half the number of people as Brum -- and more than 20 times the number of murders. It's far more traumatised by neglect, economic decline and stunning, weird depopulation. It has a Mad Max feel, literally a wasteland in places with lots of abandoned housing, crumbling buildings. It's also far less diverse, overall, compared to Birmingham.

Yeah any comparison between UK and US cities/regions is obviously going to be limited by the sheer depth and scale of contextual differences between the two countries.

It's all relative though - homicide rates are obviously much lower on the whole over here. However, at 24.5 incidents per 100,000 people, the West Midlands police force area has comfortably the highest rate of gun crime per capita of anywhere across England + Wales

Data from the England and Wales crime survey here in case it is of any interest.
