  1. Lots of competition for support up there, while the city itself probably isn't quite big enough to sustain two top-level teams (if Brum hasn't managed it then probably no surprise Sheffield hasnt!)

Bristol probably the best comparison, you'd imagine if there was just one team in the city they'd be regularly in the top flight. The south west is much more of a rugby area anyway - Swindon Town being the only SW team to play in the top division in decades

Edit: I wonder if there may also be an issue with the clubs failing to recruit support from the large ethnic minority communities in the city as well. This is definitely something that impacts support/success levels for teams in the West Mids (Wolves maybe an outlier here, as they seem to draw good support from the city's Punjabi community)

Iran all but completed that task within Iran and most countries in their sphere years ago anyway, so it’s potato potato.

No, it's strawman strawman. You have stated in here that the Iranian constitution 'literally' calls for the eradication of the Jewish people. It doesn't, as per your own evidence

The point was that their constitution says that if any minority is considered conspiratory (read everyone not Shia) they pretty much automatically lose their ‘rights’

Can't help but notice the parallels here with the Israeli state's approach to the Palestinians

    Article 14 of the Iranian constitution, the article the government uses to wipe out minorities;

    Article 14 (Non-Muslims)

"The government ... and all Muslims are duty-bound to treat non-Muslims" with "Islamic justice", provided those non-Muslims "refrain from engaging in conspiracy or activity against Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Interpret that the way you will, but it is what the government uses to ruthlessly purge Jews, Kurds, Zoroastrians etc.

Have to agree to disagree on this one mate, that doesn't constitute calling for the eradication of the Jewish people for me

The Western left is lapping up one narrative and the right the other.

I'm still waiting for you to point out where the Iranian constitution 'literally' calls for the eradication of the Jewish people.

I'm sorry if this sounds hurtful - as I appreciate that you have more skin in this game than most on here - but such is the horror and complexity of this situation that all any of us are trying to do is to interpret things as best we can. Human nature is such that we sometimes try to fit our explanations to wider narratives that are congruent with our overall worldview. That is as true for you as it is anyone else on here

Yep… and the very same people usually say that the English media don’t stigmatise white players for the same crimes…

Conveniently not paying any attention at how Ched Evans,  Adam Johnson, Gylfi Sigurdsson and many many other white players were (justifiably) harangued for being pervy rapists

    Proper weird response, this

He’s just signed a new contract at Al-Ettifaq so he’s not even available.

All makes sense now, he only signed the new contract with the Saudis to ensure they get sufficiently reimbursed when Liverpool come in for the manager who has worked so hard for them for at least 6 months now

Grealish gave us three and a half great seasons. He also wanted out at least three times. McGinn has been there through it all as has Mings.

Grealish also had a fair few transgressions and, no, I am not a fan of him the person.

None of that really invalidates the influence that he had on us returning to, and reestablishing ourselves in the PL

  11. One of only two teams that I've seen play a competitive game against both Sutton Coldfield Town and the Villa (Blyth Spartans the other)

Edit: other team was actually Barrow

Apparently a few of their lot were drinking in Nuneaton town centre en route to their game at Cov….what a depressing Away day! Well hopefully they can beat Cov today

Probably sensible, Leicester are about the only other team the Cov weirdos hate as much as Villa. Nasty element to the Cov support which many on here will have direct experience of. Wouldn't be surprised if police have dictated that the Leicester fans drink in Nuneaton before heading straight to the game

The overuse of the word ‘moment’ in football now.

I’m sure it started with the influx of foreign managers and the broken English they’d speak in during the early stages of their time in the UK (understandably of course) but it’s now used by all and sundry.

’So and so are in a good moment currently’ , ‘we had lots of good moments in the game’ - maybe it’s just me this bothers.

Been annoying me for years this one has

Edit: and agree entirely with your theory on its origins
