  1. What's Chalk Farm like? Yes I know about the oyster card, cheers for the heads up. Like I said I travel around and visit London a fair bit but have never really sussed out individual areas.
  2. Hi all. As the title suggests, I will be moving to London in June/July along with my girlfriend who will be starting a teaching position there. Although, we visit London quite a lot and know certain areas we need a bit of advice on areas to live and other little bits that anyone can help with. I realise this is quite a broad and open question regarding the areas so these are some key points we are looking for: - Zone 2/3 in an area with good transport links (i.e. a tube or a decent servived Overground along with being about a 10/15 minute journey from a 'major' station. - A budget of £1500 max per month not including bills/tax etc. - A relatively safe area (again, I realise this is all about being sensible etc) - An area with good restaurants/pubs and bars Obviously this is all sounding a bit too perfect but I think you catch my drift. An area like East Dulwich is the kind of thing we are looking for although the prices are slightly high and it's not the best for transport unless right next to the station. Some other areas that have been mentioned to me are Crystal Palace, Ealing, Clapham, Hampstead. Can anyone offer any help or any general tips/advice for living and moving to London? Thanks in advance!
  3. SNOWTOWN. Never seen a film so bleak and real. Amazing though. Definitely worth a watch.

    Tickets

If anyone wants one ticket now then I am happy to help. PM me if required.
  5. You can go from Bristol with Easyjet for around £100. There is also a sale on too now. If you book a train in advance it is straight through from New Street and will cost about £45. Depends what type of Hotel you are after but I stayed here a few months ago and it was absolutely perfect! http://www.b-hotel.com/
  6. Anchor is home only. Sportsman has a load of villa here
  7. Theres a pub called the Anchor on Gloucester Road, very big, screens and all that. I'm heading to one called the Sportsman on Nevil Road which is off Gloucestet Road, going there now so will let you know what its like
  8. Ok nice one, thanks for the info. I'm hoping the traffic won't be too bad for her as its half 6ish starts....
  9. I think the quickest route is bus it to Liverpool Street and then train (not tube) to Manor Park. What do you reckon? And what does the monthly Oyster give you? Thanks again.
  10. Hi all, wondered if anyone can help me out. My girlfriend is going to be doing a 10 week work placement in London in the new year. She is going to be travelling from "Peckham Rye" to "Manor Park Rail station" (or around this area), on Monday to Fridays for ten weeks. What is the cheapest way for her to travel? Would it be to just get an Oyster card and keep topping it up or would a monthly travelcard be better? Obviously, she will also need to get around at weekends but this will probably all be in Zones 1-3. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks
  11. Same situation here! Please PM if you know of a spare!
  12. I've been lucky enough to get hold of 1 but if anyone has 1 more going or knows of 1 more going then I will gladly take it!
  13. Good shout re. splitting the journey. It's about a 30 or 40 minute walk to the ground but Gloucester Road is a cool little place to walk through, plenty of pubs too. Otherwise, could just grab a cab or the number 73 bus.

  15. Going down my lord in reference to Redknapp I would have thought...
  16. That would be episode 10 you're talking about? I have it to watch tonight. I thought the whole of season two was the best TV I've ever seen, and this season seems to be back on form now. Indeed. Absolutely brilliant!
  17. The latest installment of Breaking Bad is one of the best episodes of TV I think I've ever seen.
  18. Build up is on now. http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/TV/LiveEventsDetail/0,,10265~2401983,00.html
  19. it's been shown on AVTV if you can be bothered to sign up (and cancel the subscription afterwards) So sign up using a debit card and cancel afterwards, is the 1st payment still taken ? No it is not. You can actually go the whole season doing this as I used to do. You're such a great fan. Given this site is checked by Villa personnel at the very least I hope they can find a way round what is basically fraud. I am a great fan, no more or no less than anyone else on here. I have already informed them of this issue before last season! Nothing has been done about it.
  20. It's not illegal though.

No it is not. You can actually go the whole season doing this as I used to do. Is it free for a certain time then? Sign up using Direct Debit method and you are given immediate access. No payments. Your bank will receive the direct debit a few days later and this will go onto your account. Then, cancel your direct debit with your bank, they will eventually inform AVTV, your subscription stops (you still haven't paid anything), then repeat the process. No-one have a go.
