Agree with your sentiment but I'll buy you a balti pie the size of Jimmy Hill's chin if you can name one such player we could actually afford, and who would also be happy playing second fiddle to Ollie.

I think we'd like a lot of things, but market demand far outstrips supply unfortunately.

Probably true, but given where we're now, I just wanna keep living in dreamland

Respectfully I'll ask you this - who were the last team to win a competition that Villa were in where you said "I'm glad they won that, such a nice bunch of lads"?

Don't get me wrong, I've been happy for teams who won things we weren't in for, but the reality is that a determination to win at all costs is both a huge advantage and very unappealing to the opposition.

That Leicester team springs to mind. Apart from perhaps Vardy, they really were quite sympathetic.

I refuse to believe you have to be dirty or unsportsmanlike to be competitive. At the end, it's a choice you make. Simply because the Premier League has a history of it, doesn't make it the only possible way.

Can’t see it. We were happy to gamble on him from the end of the summer and he’ll get more useful as the season goes on.

Part of my thinking is Emery probably didn't count on us fighting for the title this season already... and it should be fairly obvious to everyone, that Jhon's still a very much "work in progress" player, and I think we'll want a more ready-made alternative for the remainder of the season.

People need to get a grip and toughen up a bit. You saw how Emi and Argentina won the World Cup. You see how aggressive City, Arsenal and Liverpool can be. This is the reality.

I get it. It’s new territory for Villa, but if we want to talk about competing for the title then this is what comes with it. Roy Keane was a serial Premier League winner and he took red cards a plenty.

I wouldn’t behave like that at work, sure. I’m sure Martinez isn’t petulant in day to day life. But this is a football match, and winning it is the be all and end all, not making friends or being a model citizen.

You make it sound as if there's just one way to make it to the very top. I'm sorry, but you're wrong.

OK but Kamara was the one who actually committed the act that got him sent off, hence why saying Martinez is equally to blame for that is odd.

Please go look up 'causality' in a dictionary.

All Emi needed to do was put his foot on the ball and let that snivelling little twunt Maupay waste more of Brentford's time.

Exactly. Sadly he just isn't that mature. But I guess if petulant things like that, is what makes him the keeper he is, then fair enough.

  7. He acts like a spoiled little brat most weeks and now it might have cost us dearly. It's like he doesn't fully grasp, we're actually fighting for the Premier League title. Hopefully Unai is able to instill som much needed humility into him.

  8. Really took his time settling in, but oh boy what a turnaround. Biggest difference I see is his decision-making, that's improved tenfold. Honestly thought he was almost a pub player before. Very sorry Leon for doubting both your ability and commitment.

Like the look of big Jhon and think he's way ahead of his time for a 19year old, just needs time to develop and mature into a Benteke type and an understanding of the team.

How exactly is he 'way ahead of his time"? He's done absolutely nothing yet 😂

Oh yeah he is miles from the finished article but is a potential player there

He is also better off here learning from Unai and watching Ollie than on loan in Championship

His present level, he just isn't good enough for the Premier League. We should've kept Archer and JPB. They where already better players.

  11. Plays just as you would expect of, a 19-year old, overeager and quite arrogant kid. Honestly, don't see much "natural ability", but surely he can develop... in the end it's entirely up to him.

It's an odd one as he looked a quality player in Germany. I wish we could see the best of him but similar to Sancho, if you take these bundesliga wingers out of their team and tactic that makes them flourish, then stick them in a similar position on the grass but with everything else around them different, you're relying on luck more than anything to get a good outcome.

That  just sounds more like very poor scouting to me.

  13. Emery isn't stupid. We will be buying a more complete starting winger. Bailey might have a role to play as a squad player, but I doubt he'll be okay with that.
