How is someone stamping on his foot and trying to break his arm anything to do with his size?

I honestly don't know how mate, but he just seems to get entangled in all close-contact situations.

Another thing I’ve noticed, and maybe it’s because he likes to get stuck in, but he seems to get hammered every week. Apart from the awful incident with his arm (which I think was intentional) someone stood on his foot again. He always seems to be in the wars

That's probably more to do with his size.

  3. He finally manages to actually produce something worthwhile and of course the regular villatalk wankfest is in full motion. It's hilarious how low we've fallen. Still no way near good enough for the money we've paid.

Can go round in circles on this point for the rest of the season if we want.  Buendias trying to thread balls through defences and create chances. The assist is buendias game, that’s what he did for Norwich and exactly why we signed him. His biggest problem at the moment for me is he’s 2 steps ahead of everyone on the pitch and he needs to reign it in because he’s just losing possession. He’s getting some fitness now which is great to see, I think he’s quality.

Oh please with this 2 steps ahead garbage. Been hearing this same tune now for months. It's a total cop out. If he's that good, he'd be playing for City. Fact is he's isn't very good. He did however at least manage one standout pass today, that resulted in a goal. Sadly he gave away possession about 15 times as well.

This guy is either a brilliant mind and passionate footballing man, or the most skilled Charlatan of all time.

He just knows EXACTLY what to say, and how to say it.

At the end of the day, talk is cheap. The coming weeks and months will be telling. There's plenty reason to be optimistic though.

Been great under Gerrard, really good in City game where we deserved a draw and we have 9 from 12pts. Some of this nitpicking is just ridiculous and imo unjustified. As since forever it seems people write a player off then go out of their way to stick with that position

If you think he's been "great", I don't think we've watched the same games. I'm not writing him off btw, I honestly hope he comes good. He's pretty far from it at the moment though.

Also, I do think you are being harsh on him because the last couple of weeks he has vastly improved his workrate to a consistent level

I already said I'm being harsh. "Improved his workrate" just isn't good enough for 38M.

Unbelievable start. The man is doing great things right now.

Can't wait till he can bring in his players.

I really hope we won't be going berserk with a shitload of new signings. I actually want to see what Gerrard can do with this squad. We have plenty of quality across the pitch. Think we do need a powerhouse, athletic new LB/LWB though.

Have you not seen his eye for a killer pass that the average player would never spot? Or his ability to keep the ball in tight areas? He could easily have had three or four more assists for us as well.

Yes I've seen him try a lot. Sadly he isn't very successful. He mostly keeps losing the ball and often in dangerous situations. He's a liability at the moment.

Look I know I'm being overly harsh and that's due to what we paid for him. I expected a ready-made, quality playmaker, not a work in progress, inconsistent grafter.

100%. His ability isn't in question - just needs backing and time to get back to what we know he's capable of and what we bought him for.

Not trying to be cute, but when have we seen what he's capable of?

As I said, he did make things happen. McGinn wouldn't be playing LW, so irrelevant comparison. We're expecting Buendia to do something different from the deeper midfielders - his job is to create. He's obviously going to be doing riskier things with the ball, but when they come off they create goalscoring opportunities.

Irrespective of position, McGinn tried far more, and more importantly, he actually succeeded with his efforts. The passes to Watkins and Ramsay respectively, were simply astonishing. Buendia barely managed to make simple sideways passes, but because he's Argentinian, came with a hefty price tag, and runs a lot, he must be good. He won't be starting for long with these kinda of performances.

He's 4th in the vote, so can't just be me.

Yes he lost the ball, but he was constantly trying to make things happen (and did - think he was involved in 2 or 3 chances, including the first goal). Pub player lol.

Yeah well, we all see the game differently. "Trying to make things", really isn't good enough at this level. McGinn (and many others) would've got slaughtered for that performance.
