  1. Overreactions are running wild as per usual when we lose a game. Not that I'm surprised. This ridiculous privileged thinking is quite cringeworthy tbh. We are slowly building, and it shows. Yet we could have easily scraped a draw tonight. Furthermore, we weren't nearly as bad as some are making out. There are better days to come. Have some patience (and a few beers).

Btw the formation was not the problem today.

Quite surprising we wasn't even mentioned to be looking at anyone else. Spent nothing other than most of the JG money. Shocked really we ain't spent another 30-40m, most thought we would.

And the reason being, Dean et.co., are surely satisfied with the business we've done and don't see a need for further reinforcements.

  3. We'd have handily lost that game last season. Now that we actually have a squad, we can compete even when the odds are against us.

They were well organized and ugly, but we battled well and showed some real grit at times.

We'll get much better. Just got to have a little more patience.

but as we were 0-3 down up to 60 minutes, playing turgid football defending like schoolboys and looking like we haven't trained at all.....I guess your comments reflected that.....sure scoring a well executed shot and a deserved penalty, will satisfy some, but the odd moments in a game will not deliver the owners targets of European Football.

Fair observations. Then again, you could likewise argue Watford scored a very lucky deflection and an equally well executed shot. We won't get into Europe playing like that though.

there is enough data and evidence around to see what type of player Sanson is, granted its currently unknown if he can translate that to the PL, but its clear the "type" of player he is.

Sanson didnt just magic out of nowhere in to the PL, he has multiple years of data and evidence behind him as a player.

Clearly Villa used data and evidence to decide to buy him, deeming him a good enough player to spend money on.

    I didn't say the club don't know.

ye, but the problem is mate, he isnt half as good as the forward players we have on the books (when they are fit), like Buendia, Bailey, Traore, even Sanson etc, but he is not, as you say, suited to the defensive side in isolation either.

I like McGinn, but his general close ball control, passing, intricate passing etc is really poor.

Honestly you don't know jack shit about Sanson yet, none of us do. Has he even finished a whole game yet!?

McGinn is good enough for where are now. He may even improve still.

Before we destroy him too much let’s remember he was one of our best players last year. Give him a chance to bounce back

Madness. Let's instead crucify him because we lost a football match.

    It was only Watford.

Well all like to see villa win. I don't get the sense of surprise at people expressing disappointment when we don't.

Been like that in all the years I've followed villa. Guess it's the same at most clubs.

Perhaps... I don't mind ppl "expressing disappointment", at all. It's the ridiculous over-the-top reactions, which came in abundance yesterday. I get the frustration, I too wanted to win. But calling for the manager to go and dismissing all of our new signings... after one game... I mean, it's simply pathetic.

When did we turn into such a **** demanding of instant success fan base?

I actually hate what we're becoming. If this is the consequences of having wealthy owners, part of me wishes we were still in the championship.

This. It's like the expectation is we ought to win every game.

It will all depend on how Buendia and Bailey settle in my view.  We know our biggest problem last season was creativity and we’ve just lost a world class talent who really was the only one doing that.  So if Buendia and Bailey work, we could do really well, if they don’t we have a major problem.

I think it should be ok but it does worry me until I see them working in competitive games and likely 8-12 games into the season.  Having Ings helps greatly to take chances and growth of already established players but I worry we are still missing something to get that 60-65 point level and we are also banking on Buendia and Bailey clicking for the team straight away.

I’m optimistic but I have have my fingers and toes crossed.

Buendia should hit the ground running. Suspect it'll take a while longer for Bailey to adapt, but I'm certain they'll both come good. As always, we need to be patient.
