  1. With a few days without World Cup action, I've returned to my growing pile of films I haven't yet watched. Recent notables are both fairly well known but no less worthy of recommendation for it.

  2. In fact i'm positive, because they went the same distance into the future as they did into the past, and they were definitely in 1955 in the past, and it's definitely set in 1985.

So I'm still five years away from having my hovering skateboard?

  3. Aint going to happen at 120K per week

Think this was discussed lots much earlier in the thread. The lack of transfer fee would allow for front-loading the contract, effectively paying JC his own transfer fee, allowing for his wages to be lower. No idea if this would be something MON would sanction but I don't think the theory is impossible.

It would also put Cole on far and away more than anyone else at the club.

Not worth the potential hassle that would cause, as such i agree with Richard. aint going to happen.

That was kinda the point of my post though - you wouldn't have to pay him more because the money you wouldn't be spending on a transfer fee could be paid as a signing-on fee to the tune of the gap between his current Chelsea wages and what Villa were willing to pay (without upsetting the current wage structure).

I'm not saying it's likely as I'm sure it's probably not going to happen - I was just saying that wages alone wouldn't rule it out.

  5. Still unbothered.

Shitloads of cash or keeping a good player. No lose situtation for us.

    This!

    Win-Win as I see it.

But lets face it, 30 million would allow us to kick on and buy three good players. Milner is replacable. If 30 million was on the table we would be stupid not to take it IMO. Although I wouldnt be sad if Milner stays...

The problem is if we can get the right players in to become a better side after losing Milner.

That's the worry for me. £30m is a fantastic sum of money but I'm sure it would only be a matter of days before we started hearing stories of "because everyone knows we got £30m from the Milner sale, all the prices of our prospective signings have just gone up".

I'm totally torn, I think £30m is too good to turn down but I'd worry that we'd be able to effectively use the money.

  6. Meh, it wont help, nothing can really be done about rape apart from educating people.

    Especially when the majority of the poor believe that you can cure yourself of AIDS by sleeping with a virgin :facepalm;

  7. New anti-rape female condom, Rape-axe, debuts at South Africa's World Cup

    alg_anti-rape_condom.jpg

A South African doctor has developed a new female condom that she hopes will combat rape in the most painful way possible.

Dr. Sonnet Ehlers has invented Rape-axe, a female device with jagged hooks that latch onto a man's penis during penetration.

The doctor is distributing 30,000 of these condoms in South Africa during this year's World Cup.

"It hurts," Ehlers told CNN. "He cannot pee and walk when it's on. If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter."

    amd_anti-rape_condom.jpg

South Africa has one of the highest rape rates in the world, according to Human Rights Watch. It is also believed that 16 percent of the population is living with HIV.

Rape-axe is inserted like a tampon and when embedded to a man the device can only be removed by a doctor.

Some have accused Ehler of creating nothing more than a new-age chastity belt.

"It not only presents the victim with a false sense of security, but psychological trauma," said Victoria Kajja, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Uganda.

But Ehlers said that she had taken the proper research and development steps before launching the product.

"I consulted engineers, gynecologists and psychologists to help in the design and make sure it was safe," she said.

Ehlers also pointed out how women take extreme measures such as placing razor blades in their nether regions to prevent rape in South Africa.

"I believe something's got to be done," she said. "This will make some men rethink before they assault a woman."

  8. ITV seem to think Milner is going to start on the right tomorrow and Defoe up top with Rooney..

Seems to be a rumour that's gathering pace rather quickly:

    ESPN

Jermain Defoe is set to start England's do or die Group C clash against Slovenia after Fabio Capello paired the striker with Wayne Rooney in a crucial training session. Joe Cole and James Milner are also fighting for a starting berth ahead of Aaron Lennon.

England coach Capello is set to ring his biggest changes of the World Cup as Lennon and Emile Heskey are dropped to make way for fresh faces, with captain Steven Gerrard expected to be given more license to attack.

Capello is turning to Plan B in an effort to improve his side's goal threat and is hoping the new line-up will fire England into the second round with victory over Slovenia.

It appears that the Italian has taken on board the opinions of the players, but there is little doubt he made up his own mind, with no player power involved in Capello's remarkable u-turn on tactics and selection.

All the indications are that Capello will play Rooney in an advanced role with Defoe supporting him, which means the misfiring Heskey is discarded.

Either Milner or Cole will play on the right with the ineffectual Lennon axed, although nothing has officially been confirmed yet.

A source inside the England camp informed Soccernet that this is the most likely formation as Capello worked on the new team line-up and personnel in a vital training session in Rustenburg on Tuesday.

"All the nonsense about the players not knowing the team until two hours before the match - the players know what the team is likely to be," the source said. "Anyone watching this training session should have a fair idea of what Fabio has in mind, certainly the players do.

"Fabio used Milner and also Joe Cole on the right side in the training session, Defoe partnered Rooney up front, and it is clear that Gerrard will be given more freedom to attack.

"The key is to unlock the best from Rooney and with four attacking players to support him, the manager is giving this new look England every opportunity to come good and score goals in the critical final match, which everyone knows England must win."

The only enforced change is Matthew Upson, who will step in to partner John Terry as a replacement for the suspended Jamie Carragher.

  9. TalkSport just saying Heskey and Lennon dropped, Defoe and Milner playing instead, like for like swaps.

How can Talksport know this when Fabio himself said yesterday that he wouldn't be changing timing of the announcement of the team?

Becuase of what happens in training.

Doesn't make any sense. Players complaining that they never know what the team is until 2 hours before a game, Capello says that's how it is and it's not going to change but Talksport know the line-up 28 hours before a game based on a closed training session (apart from the first 10 minutes of warming-up)? This is Talksport, remember and as such, this has to be no more than speculation.

  10. Does anyone else have really vivid dreams? I keep on having them and it's as if I am actually there. Sometimes it can be a good things, yet other times it can be scary as anything...

Lucid dreams are what you want. Being able to control your dream. Imagine the possibilities!

Very rare but I've had them

Funny, I'd presumed everyone could do it. I'm evidently in a small minority then.

My favourite is when you wake up a bit, think about the dream and where you want it to go and then go back and carry on the dream as you'd imagined it in semi-conscious state. I always get the girl ;)

  11. Could have sworn this had been mentioned earlier in this thread but couldn't find it so now I'm not so sure.

    51Ow5z8HxaL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Michael Rapaport signs up for clinical trials and the pills he is testing give him super powers (or do they just send him mental?)

  12. From what I hear though, we have no money unless players are sold!!! And it is also been speculated that MON and Randy don't get on that well but that MON is here for now because there is in Randy's eyes no one better for the job.

    Not my words...

Where did you hear that? I was fairly sure that Randy said pretty much the opposite in his recent round of interviews.
