  1. I thought  Townsend was excellent when on loan at QPR. He has always performed for Hodgson. He's a Sherwood type player because he's prepared to take risks and take players on. He's still only 23. I think he would be an excellent signing if we can get him.

I agree. He's the type of player Sherwood can develop. He takes players on, and has a decent shot on him. I believe that WAS hyped up way too much, as is the case with every young english player who arrives on the scene but he could be moulded into a great player for us.

  2. I dont really get the hate myself, we have a midfield that couldnt create for about 8 months of last season and havent finished over 16th in last 3 seasons so we arent exactly in a position in which we can say a different player might be a boost

Which is why people want assurance that our midfield won't be shite.

  3. Not played much for a few years but he seems to have a level head on his shoulders, and knows his weak points so hopefully he's worked on that in training. Italy is renowned for being a little slower and more defensive. Also he should be hungry and have a point to prove so good prospect

  4. Delph going nowhere,as for Huddlestone he reminds me of a player who many go on and on and on about every time I see him play! He destroyed england he is slow old and hairy! Now the question could be is Huddlestone as good as Pirlo, Well my opinion is, I'm not sure coz I'm not a fan of that type of player ,and seem to dismiss the ability of them all, but let's just take a look at Liverpool when they finished 2nd! Yes the 3 'S' players were the players that got the headlines, but it was an older slower slippy G that was behind most of it the '1/4 back' position which I would imagine Huddlestone would be playing! For me like many others I'm not jumping for joy but then the more I think about it,the more I like it

    Come again?

  5. So how much do we think Delph is worth?

Considering that he's just signed a 4 month contract, he's our captain, a current England international, and that he's arguably our best player, 2nd only to Benteke, I'd say he's worth 18 mil to us. Maybe more. Absolutely no less than 15. He ain't going anywhere though so we dont have to worry about that!

Am I only the one that things Huddlestone is a decent player?

He's not that much different to Westwood really. I don't see him as the sort that will move us a good 5-6 places up the table.

Where were these inspirational performances saving Hull from Relegation last season btw.

He was a regular in a dismal low scoring team that went down.

Not saying he was good last season, but you can't assume a player isn't worth having just because their team got relegated and they didn't save them. You'd take Charlie Austin wouldn't you? Danny Ings?

I just think Huddlestone is overrated, always have done when he was Spurs for example.

Steve Bruce last season saying he should've been a starter for England at the world cup ffs because he can pass a ball.

He's too slow and immobile and the better teams in the league crowd him out and overrun him especially in a 4-4-2.

Let's also remember we actually need someone from central midfielder to actually score some goals next season. Cleverley was starting to do that so his replacement needs to be someone who can hit 5-10 league goals. Huddlestone averages what two a season?

    Sorry, not for me.

I wouldn't be overly excited about the signing, I'd rank it as steady. He's certainly got his weaknesses but I think he's good enough for our starting 11.

We dont want good enough for our starting 11. That's the equivalent of saying "yeah he'll do". I dont know if you noticed but our starting 11 almost wasn't good enough for the premier league.

  7. lets just get shot and cash in now. the way he played in the cup final, those shin pads, that haircut and the fact he went to Tenerife. He has become a billy big bollocks without really doing much. He could learn a lot from the likes of james milner or gareth barry. Sort it out jack.

Yeah I reckon Milner and Barry have never had a laugh. EVER.

  8.

Aaaand now the club statement has made top story and breaking news on the BBC website.  What a load of old bollocks.  The path this story has taken is so pathetically predictable.

    You know what avoids everything?

Jack Grealish doesn't do this.  So simple!

God forbid the boy goes on holiday with his mates and enjoys himself! Jeeeesus christ. Not like he pissed on a Villa shirt is it? We all make mistakes - and the chances are one of those mistakes was getting too drunk at one point. At least he can have a laugh about it.

There's no way Richards is coming to play as a cb in a 4-4-2. I think he will be a very good rb for us and probably would be decent in a back 3 but I have doubts that's what Sherwood will switch to.

Even if it's true about being after Trippier?

While he looks a pretty decent right back, I'm not sure he has that extra attacking intent ideally needed for a RWB (not seen loads of him to be fair)

While I mentioned earlier in the thread Richards should never have tried for CB so early in his career while he was being very effective for club and country at RB, going purely by speculation it looks like CB is possible and also not with a back 3.

I've not seen a lot of Trippier but I did see him in the final home game of the season live, and he certainly looked very good going forward, on that day, his distribution was absolutely excellent and he offered a good option on the overlap down the right hand side. Defensively he looked pretty composed too. But that was only one game.

Richards doesn't offer that sort of distribution or quality on the ball. He will bomb forward but won't give you that end product. At centre half, well, he doesn't have the height or positional sense to play there.

    isn't he 6ft?

He'd be quality defending set pieces he's a tank. Maybe even as part of our own set piece plays.

  11. Does anyone else get the feeling that people are just peddling what they've seen and heard from anyone else, rather actually forming their opinions on what they've seen themselves? Like the whole injury thing - Richards has had ONE big injury, and then was kept out by Zabaleta (who is a world class RB). I doubt many people have watched him at Fiorentina either. This is worth looking at -

I'd rather see Adebayor in a Villa shirt than Berbatov, he's well past his prime and just looking for another paycheck. At least Adebayor has a point to prove and there's a good chance Tim can motivate him. Neither of these would be a first choice though imo. We should be going after Austin, even if there's a chance Benteke might stay.

Scored twice against Arsenal in the Champions League. He's still class.

Great player but he's lazy and old. Wont sign.

  13. We don't need a lot of players. We need quality

    Guzan

    Bacuna CB Clark LB

    Cleverly? Sanchez Delph

    Gil benteke? Sinclair

That's 2 1st team players if cleverly and benteke stay. + 3 squad players

We also have at least 7 players defo leaving + about 5 maybes freeing up a lot of resources

If were being serious about quality Sanchez would be on the bench or getting sold. He's been ropey at times and inconsistent. Our defence needs some help in front of them. A dedicated CDM would be good and, obviously, we need a proper replacement for Benteke. I can't see us getting a guaranteed 15-20 goal a season striker without spending almost all the Benteke money though. Gil is promising but if Sherwood really doesn't think he's good enough we should loan not sell.

  14. Andros Townsend would be a really good player for us.

At least he has a pair or bollocks to take a man on and have a few shots.

At the right fee I would have him all day long, unfortunately he is English and plays for Spurs so will cost about £68m, and £400k a week.

Haha yep completely agree with you there! Our players BARELY take anyone on. And spurs will be selling him as "the black Bale"

  15. Bad news if this is true! Basically a fan prank calls Benteke's agent, Kismet, pretending to be Bredan Rodgers and he says he'll do everything he can to leave legally. He even calls him Kismet whilst on the phone.
  16. Given would start surely? He's back from injury and he's played in the run up to the final:

                       Given

    Bacuna Okore Vlaar Richardson

                    Westwood

          Clevs                   Delph

                     Grealish

              Benteke  Gabby

  17. Honestly have no idea why Bale is getting so much shit. Everyone thinks Hazard is some sort of god in the prem, and yet Bale has out performed him here AND in Spain - but he's still had a "poor" season at Madrid?!?!

  18. This has been awful. Gifted a shite looking City team two easy goals on a shiny silver platter. So many offside calls its been **** embarrassing. Thank **** for Tom Cleverley CMON VILLA
