  1. Linked with Fulham's Lasse Vigen Christensen (Danish) to replace Delph. Looks like a very good prospect judging from YouTube clips.

    Some clips

Even if those are the only two goals he's scored for Fulham it shows he's got a lot of balls and talent. Nice. Big step the prem though.

  2. Been disappointing for mine. I thought he would be a lot more attacking. He is very similar to Westwood. Marginally better but no point spending 8 million to bring him if hes only marginally better. Hopefully we leave him at Man Utd and go sign an attacking midfielder in January.

I think he breaks up play more than Westwood in his role and Westwood appears to have a better range of passing. I agree though hope we leave him.

  3. Yes, he has wasted many chances lately. Yes, his technique could be better.

However, he does get into scoring positions and does get chances, unlike our other players. I'm not sure you want to get rid of a player like that on a team that doesn't score. Would it be better to let him get his groove back?

He gets chances because of his position. Means nothing without execution!

  4. Townsend would cost a fortune, a fortune that he really isn't worth IMO. I'd much prefer us to raid the Eredivisie for a wide forward.

Agreed. Townsend cuts inside all the time and is massively overrated just cos he plays for Spurs, has loads of pace and scored a couple of screamers.

  5. Absolutely, our club is steeped in history. We may not be in the best place right now but we have had better players than Benteke in our past. I'm not saying he's not good, he is but when compared to Little, Shaw, Gray, Withe, Cowans, Platt, Mgrath and Yorke. He hasn't reached their level yet. So it annoys me too when people say somebody is too good for us.

I think they're trying to say he's better than all our players, some by a mile, and by that reasoning is "too good for us". He would be the same level as players at another club.

  6. Whether he knows how to use it or not, his pace is still a huge asset.

Teams will always be wary of a player like Gabby, and it can often push them back and give us an outlet that we wouldn't have otherwise.

It's true that he could be a lot better than he is. But he's not crap. He's still an asset to our team

Agreed. He is a limited player but can be utilized effectively.

  7. Linked with a lot of clubs that wo t appreciate him, replace gerrard? Not on your nelly, one of spurs 17 midfielders, he won't see it, the rags won't see it but the villa is as good as it's getting g for him

Agree with this! I reckon he's off though! Lots of rumors circulating him and he's a quality player he'll wanna try himself at a club higher up the table. Bit gutted really cos he's looked great for us - diamond in the rough n all that.

  8.

Good win and good performance apart from last 10 minutes.

Hutton my MOM. What a goal ! Clark, Okore, Sanchez and Benteke all played well, though Benteke should have taken very good chances.

Nzogbia was useless, Cleverly too much square or backward passing, Guzan too much hoofing, especially when we should have been holding possession towards the end against 10 men. Where is his brain?

Grealish deserves more game time, confident and wants the ball - good attempt on goal, too.

11th now, can we build on this.

One thing about Grealish: why does he give the ball to a team-mate a couple yards away when he could just continue with the ball himself? I've seen him do it several times now. The obvious answer is that he is so young and lets the senior player make the decisions. But is it really so, I don't know. He may just need more games and feel part of the first team, be one of them instead of a fill-in?

I noticed that, probably because they are in a little more space and a better angle/position to pass from. Instead of attempting to take a player on and getting stuck in possession he just taps it across. That was my theory anyway because other times he played the ball himself, especially as the game went on he seemed to get more confident.

  9.

54% possession, 17 shots, 7 on target. Late pen was a sucker punch. Benteke back next match. Be positive

Cue the massive negativity despite a good performance.

Agreed. Played well, strung passes together. Final third i didn't think we were too great, we let Burnley assemble and then we had a brick wall to get through. Crosses were good. **** up once and it cost us a Pen and then a goal. Then after that we shit the bed and Burnley played well to maintain pressure. Played a damn sight better than what we have been previously, and anyone who says otherwise needs to take a step back and rethink.

Having said that - us playing well, really, is just us doing the basics and not **** up. Will be extremely happy to see Benteke on the pitch.
