According to good old Wikipedia we were interested in him back in 2008. Doesn't look like he's ever held on to a first team spot very regularly, at 28 years old it seems a strange signing. Will be interesting to see what happens with this one.

If I got on a plane to Birmingham expecting talks which could consequently decide my future at a new club and then the club I'm with decides "nope come back lolololol", then i'd be pissed too. Don't think he's a direct replacement for Benteke. Seems to me Sherwood is keen to spread goals throughout the squad rather than through one player, which was almost our downfall last season. 

He's a RM on fifa so I guess he's predominantly been playing there in previous seasons. 15 goals is decent from a wide forward!

Who else is gunna go for him? Who else needs a striker? Can't see top clubs seeing him as anything other than back up, and most seem sorted? Newcastle?

How will the other players feel about him getting 100k a week? I think he will be bad for the dressing room and a gamble not worth taking.

Would you like him to say "I have always loved Aston Villa, they're my favorite club and I would love to see out the rest of my career here"? He's a Ghanaian who's played the majority of his career in France. We finished 17th last season. Get a grip. 

I'd be more suspicious of foreign players joining us saying how pleased they are to be at Villa and that its the highlight of their careers. 

 

I want them to want to be better than us. I want them to work their nuts off to get there and drag us up in the process. Ambition is great. Now they have to back it up with performances.

we are in a better position than we finished the season. Much stronger first team but having lost our only scorer of the last 3 seasons. We are not going to find another player to deliver it on his own so the money really needs to go across the whole squad.

Reliable and did the job for us - but bear in mind we've been flirting with relegation for years. He looked good cos we're shit. Didn't offer many assists or goals either. We can replace him! We'll be getting 32.5 million for Benteke as well. UTV!!

IF he goes he isn't irreplaceable, even though he is very good, not sure is he good enough for Man City though so I'm kinda surprised they're after him.

He's good because he plays for us.

You're a relegation threatened club who has just sold their best player and a team that has won 2 titles in 4 years has just put in for him. If you think this is about money then you're just not paying attention.
