  1. I have been impressed with Cleverly the last couple of games. He has been working hard.

i also think that Sherwood knows how to play him better to get a better performance ( the job he is asking him to do)

if he keeps this up he may be a future captain for the  and I hope we sign him permanently.

Dont get TOO excited mate! Has played well sure.

  2.

The way he took that penalty makes me think confidence was never an issue and it was just our style of play. In 2/3 game with Sherwood in charge he has looked dangerous.

I agree with the first part of this wholeheartedly, and I hope you're right about the second part.

Took some serious balls to take that penalty after his and the rest of the teams performances!

  3.

He looked somewhat emotional/relieved if anything

I heard an interview with him today, and I wasn't impressed at all, to be honest. I always thought his recent issue has been "confidence," which is a bit of a meaningless cliche, the more I think about it. He sounded a lot more complacent and self-satisfied than I'd ever imagined him being. I wish Sherwood would bench him.

Probably because he's a striker and knows he should be bagging goals

  4. There was an interesting statistic from commentators the other day highlighting the fact that Benteke has had nowhere near as much as the ball as he's had in his previous seasons. Cant remember it though - does anyone else?

  5.

I think we need to play him in a central position.  If we play him out wide we are often left with no one out wide because he's constantly coming inside to try and get the ball.

Could also be a key player behind benteke and I'm sure he'd be much more intelligent than gabby in trying to read benteke winning headers.

I personally think he is to left footed to be played central.

This makes no sense. Eriksen is left footed as are many attacking mids thats play centrally.

  6. Very poor today - sure we weren't setting chances up on a plate for him - but he barley find a claret shirt all afternoon.

Pretty hard against a strong physical team like stoke. They were crowding him out and we didn't change it up enough. Ran out of ideas.

  7. It's quite hard to judge a single player when the rest of the team has also been doing shite this season. You're only as good as your team - as the saying goes. Look at Borussia Dortmund some of their players are world class and they were bottom of the table not long ago after finishing 2nd last season and being in a champions league final. Now they're 10th but you get my point.

  8. I reckon we need to see where Sherwood is going to play Weimann. I hope we see him as a striker so we can an end to the speculation/arguments on here when we can jugde the full picture/Andi's full capability. Which is fair enough i reckon. I reckon he's a good impact sub though because of how hard he works. Second half, tired legs, on comes Weimann nipping at your ankles - pain in the arse. Hope he does well under Sherwood! Im eager to see if he'll improve in a different position.

  9. Secon half he undoubtedly start to return to the old beast we know, and i agree about the markers. Our play was so slow and stale 2 defenders just marked him out of every game, we need that battering ram back that people are shit scared to see on the teamsheet.

Yeah needs to earn the name "The Beast" again. Doubt defenders are shitting bricks like they used to. The time Chris Smalling tried to barge him off the ball, left wing, and ended up bouncing off Benteke and onto his arse at Villa Park is burned into my memory - that's the beast. Set up Weimann for the goal too. One of my favorite goals. 3:29 in the video. Excuse shit quality.

  10.

He really is overrated, would have no problem cashing in on him in the summer. Offers nothing and all ive seen him do today was set up a Leicester chance

Harsh. He won a lot of the ball today. I thought he was very energetic especially in the 2nd half. Some people are so harsh, they remember when a player loses the ball but never seem to remember when they win it back. Delph won the ball at least 3 times in the 2nd half when Leicester were essentially starting a counter attack. Such important challenges. Not saying he was brilliant today but he did put a shift in. He can certainly play a lot better though!

Agreed. Also a lot of people watch the ball, and pay most of their attention, if not all of it, to assists and goals or exciting looking runs forward. A lot of things get missed, simple passes that led to an assist, or made space, and work off the ball. I had a guy who used to play at a decent level tell me that football is ruined (not literally of course) for him now because he'll miss a goal watching everything else happening on the pitch!

  11. He had a poor game, but nearly every time he got the ball he was facing towards his own half. I don't think he was used to playing with a left back like Cissokho, who is so uncertain going forward. There was very little attacking interplay between them, and I'm not blaming Aly for that, but I don't think it helped Sinclair.

THIS. Instead of slating him for one poor game in a Villa shirt. His debut you loads of you thought he played well!

  12. He was possibly the best of a very bad bunch tonight, but he was being played far too deep, most of his good work was on the halfway line or our own half.

Absolutely ridiculous how far he was expected to back track last night. Also kept picking up possession in deep areas - maybe so he could carry the ball up and take on players but still too deep in my opinion.

  13. I'll say it again.

This guy is not a premier league footballer.

If you sit in front of the back four you have to win a tackle, a header, protect the back four.

He can not- shame really because he has a nice pass.

Agreed. There are players who sit deep and aren't expected to tackle too much though. For example; Pirlo - he's lightweight, isn't really there to tackle, but keeps things ticking with his passing whether short or long. Obviously Pirlo is out of this world in comparison to Westwood but just saying. Westwood isn't good enough just yet although he's an alright player (decent tidy passing), but he needs some Championship time i reckon.

  14. Yeah **** this. Lambert's had enough. This football is **** disgusting id rather not watch it but instead I've got my eyeballs fixed to the screen wish i had something sharp to stab them out with. No goals, no confidence, no tactics. Time to go Lambert.

Thanks for bringing in Benteke and Gil though.

  15. This is **** awful. Gil needs to be in attacking positions. Every time a player gets the ball in hulls half they have their back towards goal and they just pass it backwards and dont move. No forward runs. **** awful.

  16. I'd expect no less than ten. We should beat Sunderland, Hull and West Brom. Swansea are tough, Stoke and Newcastle are better But we can get draws but I'm being realistic and only expecting a point from those.
