You serious? 4 decent months and you want him to captain the team! Wow expectations for the team really have fallen more than I realised.

More about the person than the ability (although Clark had a better season than Delph imo), Clark seems much more vocal and acts more like a leader out there than Delph (not a dig at Delph).

I don't have a problem with Delph being captain, but if you asked me who was more suited to being the captain I'd say Clark.

I, as a fan, feel more unqualified to judge who should be captain than just about any other player assessment. How can you really judge who's better to be suited as Captain? Because one player yells? Not convincing to me. Has no bearing upon respect in the dressing room, which should be the key component (and a regular on the pitch of course).

 

For what its worth i've seen Delph point and yell plenty of times. Also this whole release clause thing is just conjecture and speculation right? People are talking like it's a real 100% confirmed thing...

Does anybody know if Benteke wants to go to Liverpool?  Have we heard anything from him or his agent at all?  I see Liverpool are after him and they may have had some encouragement from somewhere I'm assuming but I havent seen anything saying he is interested but I may have missed it.  Still not sure why he'd want to go there as I've said before, his talents scream a better team and if he has a good season with us where he is settle and scores for fun and then showcased in the Euro's then he can go to a big team, a team that's CL qualified at least.

Think we would still need another RB, as well as a ST (2 if Benteke is sold).

With the exception of Gueye, I would be surprised to land any of the above.

 

If we knew about Gueye before all this news we'd be saying it's unlikely we sign Gueye too tbh.

1st Choice RB next year?

Not sure about this one. Depends where Richards ends up playing (although many people seem to think he's here to play as a CB) and whether we get another RB to use Bacuna further up the pitch. I've just been on the club official website and noticed that Bacuna is listed as a midfielder…. does anyone know if that's always been the case??

Just because there's not more links in the media doesn't mean he's not leaving. More just lazy journalism. We'd be a hard club to make a striker rumor for if Benteke is leaving. 

I reckon Benteke is good enough for a top 4 team but whether he'd perform depends on the team I think. It's hard to say because he's been one of the few shining lights for Villa in a few really shit years and, as they say, "you're only as good as your team." Yet he's still bagged goals and pulled off some nice football. I reckon he'd smash it at Arsenal personally. 

 

 

Whether this is true or not, it would be good of the club to make a statement to settle the supporters, i'm sure many of us wouldn't want Delph to leave, especially for £8m.

Ok let's look at this from his point of view. Stays with us, battles relegation but manages to bang in 15-20 goals. May or may not get a move to a big super power. Moves to Liverpool and bangs in 15-20 goals, challengers for top 4 and has a decent Europa cup run. May or may not get a big move to a super power. Listen of course I want him to stay but all I'm saying is if Liverpool are the only club to bid 32.5M for him then I would 100% understand if he left.

Yeah I agree with this. I think that's why Sherwood isn't **** about and he's getting players in. Also Benteke speaks french… So do Gueye and Praet (who's also Belgian) - that would help Sherwood convince Benteke. You'd think so anyways.

Its £7.5m, it could be the difference in them getting champions league football or not. They should just pay it.

Which is why I said "based on that one clip" - as in that's the only clip i've seen to be able to judge him on, but in said clip he looks tidy and composed. So no I haven't decided he must be a tidy player all the time, after viewing one clip of one game, as your post suggests.
