  1. And then diaby adds a shot on goal and a save to his day.
  2. I'm sorry but those of you harping on Diaby are simply cluesless. He has created multiple dangerous attacks and just saved us n defence. an dwas just hacked down in the penarlt area.
  3. tbf, the angle looking at lenglet was clearly offside, but I'm not at all sure that the freeze frame was when the ball was passed. I think it may have frozen the frame too early which was clearly in offside POSITION. the look from the other angle i.e when that ball was played. was much less certain. But legnlet clearly held so it seems like justice to me.
  4. diaby is dropping back deeper for the ball and it has opened everton up at least twice
  5. not true at all. I have learned them all from experienced pro players. used them all. The biggest reaction I've ever seen was from myself when a pro and international used one on me and I laughed and replied. "thanks for the help."
  6. Yelling and remonstrating at the ref is just stupid. Being frustarted with the ref is normal. You just need to be smarter. Lessons for players. Never jump and down and yell and wave arms about, or kick the ball. Walk calmely by the ref and without facing him, say: "When the match is over, and you watch the tape back. You can send your apology by email, that will be fine" OR "you are going to have to tighten up a bit or some of these lads will lose control." OR "as long as you're consistent calling nothing, that will be fine, we can adjust to rugby rules." OR "When the match assessor points out that you lost control by not calling blatant kicks (or holds, or whatever) think of this one, this is what he means." "Your AR is letting you down, not giving you help on that one you couldn't see from your angle." If you want to dissent loudly and yell it. then yell at your teammates - not the ref. "It's alright boys, if he won't call fouls like that, you know what we can get away with now."
  7. After the match, I need to attend a funeral. I'm trying to decide which will have more excitement.
  8. VT is my only live coverage. ya'll trash commentators but you ain't no better!
  9. We need a different thread to discuss and establish a clear, consistent definition of “must win”. we can call it the “must define” thread.
  10. Disappointing, but the assertions that were not a top team because we can’t break through a low block are a bit over the top if a low block was always breakable to a top team, arsenal, man city, liver disease would only ever lose to each other it takes a ton of quality and a bit of luck. Could we use more quality? Sure, of course. But that alone does not prove we aren’t a top team. In fact, the reality that so many are playing against us from a low block is pretty good evidence that we are.
  11. My problem with the Ramsey call was not that they saw Ramsey holding the right arm of the keeper. (He did) It’s that they ignored his jersey being pulled nearly off pulling him down. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Ramsey grabbed an arm just trying not to be pulled to r the ground. IF VAR had decided that the ref missed a clear and obvious foul for a pk and the second foul (Ramsey holding the keeper) was voided along with the goal, nobody would have had a valid reason to complain
  12. Btw. The assist from Bailey on Moreno’s goal and the assist from Kamara on Watkins. Should both be on every list of greatest assists of all time.
  13. for a while it was boring. but it sure didn't end that way. Re: the match minus the poor behavior. when a team plays in a defensive shell, you have to move the ball much more quickly than we were moving the ball. You also need the confidence to keep moving forward in tight spaces whether by passing or carrrying the ball. We did OK at first, creating some nice (but spurned) opportunities. But then we stopped. I don't know if we got lulled to sleep, frustrated and too safe, or what. but we started slow, safe, 2-4 touch passes around the perimeter. Which is effectively time wasting for them. I suspect the payers understood that and were frustrated and that's what turned it. Ollie, the stands are full of several thousand people. The odds are quite good that some idiot will be abusive. (Just look at the match thread) surely you can ignore the idiots most of the time. Should have done it today, too. Emi, Maupay is an annoying prick. You would think respectable clubs would want to hire footballers, but sometimes they hire annoying pricks instead. Don't be one to show one up. David Coote, It's pretty clear that you will catch some flack from assessors and referee admnistrators for failing to control the match. It's well earned. Learn from it, listen carefully and learn, or take up some other career. Your errors strongly contributed to the abundance of frustration felt by platers. Mostly, I would suggest more courage and better judgement. A few examples. Shocking lack of courage to go with a caution on Ben Mee, you can't say you didn't have a good view, you had a lack of courage. When any player is pulled to the ground by his shirt stretched out behind him at least half a meter, whether you call the foul or play the advantage, book the cheat. When 4 or 5 from a team are celebrating in a way clearly antagonistic toward one fan, or a small group of fans, you need to be there to difuse it, rather than wait till an opponent runs in and creates a melee. When an annoying prick pointlessly shoulders an opponent when the ball is out of play, you can't act like it was something minor, it's an obnoxious event. A simple, quiet yellow card does not feel like justice to the aggrieved. It's serious misconduct, make sure everybody knows it. When a GK escalates the shithousery stupidly, get there, be there with a strong presence to exert some sense of authority, control, and discipline. Book them both for the childish nonsnese interfering with what should be an enoyable day out. (I know, it would require courage to give a second caution to the annoying prick, but again, that's something you needed to show more of.) Finally, when there's a melee, and one manager steps on to the field to help calm things down and is helping to keep his players from escalating the problem, it's better to thank him than book him. Learn your lesson and get better, or don't do this job at this level. Oh, and actually, you're not the worst referee we've seen this season, so I do still have hope for you.
