He honestly should be loved way more than he is by Villa fans, it's quite baffling. Twitter on match days where he's not playing like Maldini is insufferable. Also stupid little nitpicks like him chewing gum are often brought up. Any other club and he'd be close to if not a legend.

I completely agree with this comment. Yes he has his limitations and how we want to play might stretch him to the limit of his ball playing ability, I will even confess to getting annoyed with him when he pops an aimless ball down the Chanel or looks a bit casual and hands momentum to the opposition but despite that he is still be a mile are best centre half (Carlos excluded because he haven’t seen any of him). He has been instrumental in taking us from mid table championship to mid table premier league in his time with us and he has been a colossus defensively more often not, clearly an excellent leader and a real role model and ambassador for our club. Overall regardless of football he seems to be one of life’s better people and we should celebrate that he doesn’t just phone it in, he wants to be here putting himself on the line for Villa. All that said top level football is a ruthless business and we should always look to improve which might mean he gets replaced as a starter but whoever that might be we can all agree they will have to be a bloody good player which can only be a good thing for us villains

I reckon minimum he will go for is 50m. Top keepers are hard to find and he is in the top 5 in the world at the moment

I think utd will make a big bid fof him in the summer.

Kepa at Chelsea how much was he? Emi is a mile ahead of him in ability

  3. Absolutely madness to let the guy bring in the USA starting midfield then sack him a week later! It’s crazy they have spent all that money as well and in my opinion worse then they were last season because Phillips glued them together. Now he is cheering on Man City from the stands every week and Leeds look like one of the worst technical premier league sides you will ever see and running will only get you so far. I do also find it funny the idea that the way to avoid relegation this year might be to bring back the guy that was going to get them relegated last year, that seems like classic Leeds to me but I actually don’t think it will happen.

  4. Feels like it’s one of Leeds Everton or West Ham to join Southampton and Bournemouth going down. I think West Ham will be ok  but the Leeds and Everton squads are very very poor, Leeds have survived on a championship level squad with champions league level fitness and work rate but that crumbled away last year hence why they are in big trouble. Everton have equal as poor a squad assembled for a lot more money but I think they might just scrap out of it with dyche so I’m saying Leeds to go and I think with the wages they are shelling out they will have a fire sale or another financial implosion

They aren’t even close. We were circling the drain for five years.  Everton routinely post 50 points.  They’ll flirt with the drop this season but get out of it and be back to mid table next year.

Struggling to agree with you here mate. They are not in the relegation zone by accident it’s because they have poor quality players and a poor board and ownership. That’s unlikely to change by next year given the current situation they are in and I just don’t see them being able to improve what is already and awful squad with much quality. I am half expecting that the Anthony Gordon money (lol that anyone paid anything for him in my opinion) will be funnelled back into the Russian guys pocket.

I think league wise they are in a better position than we were when we went down but as a club I think they would be in serous financial trouble with this new stadium and no premier league money plus a bloated poor squad on high wages probably with no reduction clauses. It will be interesting to see and all I can say is I’m glad it’s not us anymore or at least for now

Decent dive on him is about all I've seen

He's like the A typical young exciting PL winger just waiting to be found out before plummeting down the leagues in his late 20s

I think he might find himself there a lot sooner than late 20’s this has got classic lad that thinks he is better than he is, has he even played 40 games yet ? And in those games contributed much.

Fair point but we don't know for sure if biesla couldnt do it without the pre season. For me the biggest problem with biesla he doesnt have the squad there to play that high energy game that he adopts. Imagine trying to get iwobi mcneil and calvin lewin playing that way?

Om a side note if everton do go down i wouldnt mind onana here. Looks a player just in a poor squad

I think Calvert Lewin is one of Everton’s biggest problems. They have convinced themselves he is a bit of a player and therefore they haven’t felt the need to get a proper striker in but reality is he is a poser always ready to slid into the 6 yard box just that little bit to late giving the impression he was unlucky but for me it shows why he is a bad striker because he should just be there scoring a tap in. Obviously they have other big problems too like pissing money away on rubbish players. Other than Onana and maybe Pickford who would pay money for a single one of there players? Keane, Godfrey, Mina, coady (I know he is on loan) tarkowski, gray, iwobi (cost about £30 million wtf) dacoure. They are actually rubbish and premier league level.

Assuming no one else picks up anything then yes. That’s a big ask though.

They’ve taken something like 2 points from a possible last 18. They need a big turn around and fast. They’ll need another 7 wins from their remaining 18 games to get them to 36 points. If you think that might be enough? It’s not quite at the level where you need champions league level form but it’s certainly needing top half level form between now and the end of the season.

Just for perspective when emery took us over we had 12 points they had 14 we now have 28 points they have 15. By any accounts that’s pathetic

  9. Really don’t see them getting out of it this season, they are so poor and can’t see them improving the squad much in January and I don’t think even unai emery could help them with what they have

Have to imagine this implies that we will be bringing in a winger who can also play upfront in the coming days. Others have mentioned thuram for instance.

I agree I feel like this means a big forward/winger signing suited to emery’s style which probably wasn’t possible with Ings wages. Sad to see him go, I like the player and also seems like a good guy but times move on and his age and value diminishing against huge wages makes sense providing a plan is in place but with emery’s attention to detail it’s hard to imagine the isn’t one.

I'd *bet good money, (£2 max), that Danny Ings is an Everton player by the end of the transfer window. It fits the narrative in so many ways.

(I don't bet, but if I did, it would be on this).

I think this is very unlikely even if we wanted to sell him. Everton can’t afford the fee and certainly can’t afford the wages unless they get rid of a lot of the rubbish they have which will be hard. From an Ings point of view I don’t see him wanting to join a basket case club on the verge of almost certain relegation when he would have better options.

Will get a massively reduced fee for Neves aswell if they go down given he'll only have 12 months left on his deal compared to selling him in any point in last 12 months.

I don’t get why neves is still at wolves, he is a fantastic player in my view and far to good for wolves. Why would you stay at a club like wolves when you could easily go elsewhere because your agent has some sort of deal going with the club. If I was him I would be questioning if my agent is doing his best for me

Apologies aren’t required. Translation into non geek would be handy though. 🙂

No problem. Using a car analogy what we have currently is the body work with no mechanics, axels etc designed so it looks nice and you can get some good images etc and most importantly show planning how it will look in context of the surrounding area. The next stage is to them design how it’s all going to work in reality so for us that means things like access in and out rod supports, all the services required to run the building so power, gas, water etc and working out how all of this stuff fits into the space you have available. I’m my job we use a 3d model to do this and judging by the images from Villa they have done the same which is good because you can use that to start working out a schedule of works (4d) and more of a fix on cost (5d).

After that stage it’s designing in the specifics. so things like we know we want 50 male toilets in this area but what type of toilet and basin etc. we need kitchen space for hospitality so what configuration of equipment is needed.

the is still a lot of work to do but I would imagine a lot of that’s been going on Already so it might not take more than 6 months to firm up the design

Youssouf Fofana would be a coup - if we're going to splash the cash. Him alongside Kamara/Luiz sheeshhhhhhh

I thought he has been very poor when he has played this World Cup which is the only time I have seen him play but he is a huge downgrade on rabiot for France in my view but that’s based of how I see it in this World Cup only.

  15. I had been thinking given that the Saudis own Newcastle either officially or unofficially who could afford to buy united. I’m not basing this off the cost of buying a business as £6 billion is small fry really in business acquisition terms but more in the purchase cost + running costs + urgently required ground and training complex upgrade vs income return. I get that increasing brand value and potential future sale price might come in to it and the large commercial potential but to me it looks really tricky to make a good value return given the cost of all that’s required and that’s before they even sign a player or add to the crazy wage bill
