  1. So much made up stuff on this thread. Once again Villa talk is a glimpse into the variety of the human psyche!

I say this lightheartedly, but seriously—some of the conclusions I've read on this website based on scant or no evidence is a genuine surprise.

It's not a big deal now and with these topics of course, but I feel we as a race are so into drawing conclusions from almost nothing and the bigger picture is we are capable of causing a lot of crazy shit!

Some of the Villa fans on Twitter need to engage their brains for a moment before typing on a keypad.  Getting angry about guess work is a mugs game.

My only concern is that he didn't play well in Spain because their winter is cold.... I hope he has manned up a little since then

Not just aimed at you, but there are so many funny interpretations of reality on this website based on nothing but complete guesswork (and pessimism). 😆

EDIT: I didn't see he complained about the cold.

  4. For those kit mock up artists—shouldn't you be moving the badge and the kappa logo much higher the way kappa do on their kits? I look at these and think they look nice, but it's a design detail that really jumps out as missing.

Is Danny Rose the only black player in the Premier League?

Yes I get that there is racism etc,

However why does that give him a better excuse than the other 100's/1000's of black players to not be a dick?

I feel like some people can milk, spin, or amplify a situation in whichever way they choose.

How many fans in the crowd at any given English football match are actually racist?

Given the amount of money they earn, the space they are in etc, that shouldn't be difficult minor white noise to drown out IMO.

I dunno man, either way I don't even know why we are discussing him. lol

Yet Raheem Sterling has been pretty commendable in speaking out—for the double standards in the media primarily but there was also the interaction with the Chelsea fan. I don't know. I think it's easy to brush it under the carpet, but maybe in the current climate speaking out is important. Anecdotally speaking, I've heard a few things in the last few years that I had never heard in 30 years previously. I'm not sure he was a dick about it either just because he said it was demotivating him.

EDIT: What he said about wanting out of football probably isn't going to encourage us to go after him anyway, so I'm sure we won't have to discuss it any more.

Yeah for some reason I thought he was older 🤪.....

I did hear something on a European football podcast, where someone said he wanted a big money move..... I wasn't claiming to be in ITK

Ahhh! Makes more sense then. :)

Wow, I was just giving my opinion to someone's post. He asked for an opinion so I gave him one.

    Sorry 😂

You don't have to apologise, but it was a bit of a hilarious reach of logic! I thought it was funny. 'The guy we didn't sign is probably only after the pay cheque. I'll take the young talent (who is three months younger).'

I think Gomez is as interested in the pay cheque as he is in where he plays. Good player no doubt but I'll take the young talent.

You have decided this how? Confirmation bias perhaps?

We should only be loaning a first team player if he significantly improves our team. I.e. A player from a club that have an embarrassment of riches so can afford to loan the player out. For example James to Bayern or Kovocic to Chelsea.

And Abraham to Villa. And Mings to Villa. And Tuanzebe to Villa. And Snodgrass to Villa.

I doubt we could have paid for any of them with the financial restrictions in the Championship. Yet the first three helped us get promoted and earnt us a hell of a lot of money. There is value in loans if done correctly.

Just seen west ham had a 29m bid for maxi Gomez accepted. (Think Valencia are in for him too)

Do you guys think Gomez for 29m or Wesley for 22m would habe been the best piece of business?

In fairness Gomez may not have even looked twice at us?

Part of me thinks Wesley may be ideal for us and is a better purchase than Gomez could have been?, I'm more just interested in people's thoughts?

How many of us have seen either of them play? I don't have a clue.

That's scraping the barrel for a good reason to loan players tbh.

I don't agree. It also simultaneously has helped us compete/not get relegated over various seasons. We do benefit too. It's obviously better to develop players but loans are useful too....you just wouldn't want to depend on them solely and have to rebuild each year. One or two are OK.

Think it's pretty obvious why loans aren't a good idea. I've been against them every since the days of loaning Milner, Walker etc.

You aren't getting the finished article but a rough diamond that you have played a part to mould. What's worse is you have paid a premium to do this then have nothing to show for it at the end of the year.

That year could have been spent giving much needed game time to your own youngsters. See Onomah stopping O'Hares or Doyle-Hayes development. 2 years later Onomah has failed in 2 loans when we could have had a very ready young player of our own.

Then there's Sam Johnstone who spent a year and a half here but is no better than a player we always had in Steer. Would have paid 2 loan fees for him and his wages whilst also paying Steer. Had Steer been allowed to just play for the last 3 seasons we would have known him inside out by now and make a proper decision on him being ready for the premier league or not rather looking to spend 20m on yet another new keeper. Remember he would have had 3 years of proper development by now.

Occasionally you might get a decent player on loan like Abraham whose goals obviously played a big part in promotion, but at the end of the day it's Chelsea who have benefitted by having a more complete player on their books whilst we've had to spend 22m replacing him.

On the other hand we ended up signing Milner in the end. I'm sure his familiarity with the club helped is decision to come, or it likely played a part. A similar thing would have happened with Johnstone had we had money last year and may still happen with Tammy/Axel in the future if their clubs don't want them.

One thing about him is that he’s very injury prone I think especially for a goalkeeper. If he  stays fit, he’ll be terrific for us. £20m is a lot of money but he’s a proven Premier League goalkeeper I think

Touch all the wood, but it seems to have been one injury, a fractured ankle for which he's had a couple of surgeries that kept him out for a season. Since then he's played two full seasons.

I'm just picking this post at random but it could have been one of loads.

Can someone explain to me how we are not 'doing a Fulham'?

The difference is we really need to sign players in these positions. We're not turning our backs on the team that got us promoted, we're filling the gaps left in the squad so we can compete.

Without question we need that number of CBs (and two CB signings should hopefully be loan players from last year made permanent, so therefore not like Fulham as there'll be continuity). If we couldn't get Tammy back then without question we needed a striker. It goes without saying that we need a proper DM/CM to play behind Jack and John. Other massive weak spots are LB and RW. So far we've signed Jota, but we're still light on the wings. We weren't the complete, finished article last year, so we need to build still.

We're nothing like Fulham last year. But we do need to spend a lot just to get the squad balanced and ready.

Wesley Moraes Ferreira da Silva is a heck of a long name to the point they just call him wesley on the transfer page on fifa 19 lol.

Every Spanish/Portuguese-languaged player has a million names. Not sure if you noticed, but they often just put one of them on!

What does he have to do with us?

I imagine just that he's Brazilian. It's like how everyone says Jota is like Gil or they don't like Scottish people because of Lambert. It's a great, deep way of looking at the world.
