Maybe he'll start next week because of those goals, and I'd hate to miss them... but.

If he starts next week I bet he won't be playing DM by game 3. And we'll all have had a wake up call.

That is why he will play most weeks. Dean Smith wants to win games. Goals win games

And conceding goals loses them. We need a proper DM. Presumably we've bought one. Therefore Conor is competing with Jack and McGinn. Against good championship teams he looked out of place at DM. Most teams in the Prem will run him ragged in that position. He's not quick enough.

I'm really quite concerned at how many players we brought in. I hope it works but I fear we'll be going into October and November hearing about how they need time to get.

Let's face it we've taken some massive gambles here.

What was the alternative? Resign adomah, Whelan and jedinak? That's at best a gamble at worst stupid. I'd rather what we're doing.

  4. We were the dominant team in the league for a while and it wasnt because we had Hourihane as DM. He is a bad DM who lets players past too easily bar ONE tackle ONCE in the playoff final. We will get destroyed against Spurs if he is DM. Surely it's going to be Marvelous playing there.

In the Engles interveiw he says Hourihane is one of the leaders in the group.

Theres no way brazillian boy is going to walk into the first eleven. He'll have to get his boots on and kick sand.

Unless he's something special. which I doubt otherwise pep would have kept him.

Like with Santa nobody believes you're real.

We need to stop bitching about Xia selling any sell on clauses.  Xia kept us out of bankruptcy long enough for us to get our current owners in.

Wyness wanted us to go into admin so he could get his mates to buy us on the cheap.

Xia has many faults but he was a breath of fresh air at the time, allowing Villa Fans to believe again.  The first year bills were paid and he was pumping money in and we did a lot of Spending that first Summer and then Bruce in that first Winter transfer time.

Something happened where he was no longer able to pump money in etc but he allowed Bruce to bring in loans such as Snodgrass and sign Terry.  He gambled and lost.

Xia respected Villa and wanted the best for his dream of taking the club back.

As said he has many faults, trusting pieces of poop like Wyness is one of them but Xia's time and the explosion of interest again when we just missed promotion attracted our new overlords and for that we should be thankful even if we miss a few million on sell on clauses.

You say he pumped money in, but I remember some analysis pointing out that he had just spent the parachute payments and had really put basically no money in at all.

I agree. It's interesting that a lot of the grief he gets is because he doesn't fly into tackles as a midfielder.  This has caused some to comment on his bravery. We have to remember that he was first in against blues when grealish got slapped, he was the one fighting leeds like a man possessed . I think he'll step up. If he had half the assists and half the goals I'd take that now  . He's only playing deep because there's noone else to play there. He's not going to be a starter but he's a bloody good midfielder to come on in a tight game. Remember WBA in the playoffs, and the ball in the final for the first goal.

He's just not that good as a DM. That's the position he'll be playing in the prem, and I think a lot of people are simply stating that for all the assists and important goals we need someone better in such an important position. He seemed responsible for a few goals for lack of pace/following a man too. Then, in an attacking sense, I worry that he can go missing too much. Having said all that he's a good squad player and I hope he proves me wrong. His goal in the semis was huge and I have a lot of respect for that.

yeah....but the principles are not......wait and see is my point.

I don't doubt many people are going round thinking it's all a game! Don't forget we were relegated in the past. Also don't forget that right now money talks and the big boys have all the power and we were almost completely destroyed as a club last year but for the type of luck that has no parallel in the real world. Maybe we're more like Newcastle  in this country. I bet Mike Ashley is saying wait and see on both counts too. Wait and see is something I've been hearing for three years and it's was BS now three years ago as it is now.

Just like we don't know what "No deal" will mean.

Lets be Intrepid and see......its called courage, Bravery and Belief.

    Obviously two very different things.

Couldn't agree more with this. For me, there is no doubt that Benrahma is a far more developed/talented player than El Ghazi. El Ghazi will be a great rotation option.

Based on this Delphino have you heard that we are close to Benrahma? He's the one I've really wanted all along.

Why are you asking him questions as if he knows something?

    Me neither.

We need to drop this McGinn guy as he hasn't a clue.

Are you comparing BB to McGinn? One couldn't get in the team, or even on the bench—the other was one of the most important players. I like Bjarnasson, but it's not looking very likely he'll feature at all this season with the amount of players we're signing.

I am loving this new wave of VillaTalk experts we have seen arrive in this window.

Signings written off as shite before they have arrived, players written off from leagues - even though they have yet to even kick a ball in that league, transfer targets ridiculed because we are not big enough or we won't be spending that sort of money.

    It's brilliant to witness.

He couldn't get into our team in the Championship. I don't know what's so controversial here.

As a discussion point and not suggesting it could / would happen. IF Bale leaving Madrid meant we had a chance to bring him in on loan for a season, would you sign him?

Who wouldn't and what's the point in discussing it? (it's never happening in a million years, so it's pointless)

Your fourth choice or has DS said that?

I watched us last season! Remember him being sent out on loan while we kept on Tammy, Kodjia and Davis?

The Hogan thread is like some weird Twilight Zone episode at times.

A lot of people dissing him and yes I’m not convinced by him but reality suggests that if we don’t buy another striker and it’s unlikely we’ll offload him, he’s going to be one of our subs for striker next season

Yet he's fourth choice as it is.

The Mirror are reporting that we’ve been in talks with Sturridge. That is quite a specific statement for clickbait.

Sure. Conveniently released on a Sunday with all rest of the transfer bullshit that is also 'quite a specific statement for clickbait.'

If Luiz is one of those 2/3, I think we’ll be going into the season light.

I still think we need 4 or 5 because there is no room for error with the new boys. If Jota, Wesley, Guilbert and and Luiz don’t step up, we’re absolutely f******.

Purslow seems like a decent bloke but that’s made me a little nervous.

    I thought you knew things.
