I'm irritated now, thanks.
Apologies. I never said it was because he was black btw! Anyway, in a pub, if you'd have said what you said, I'd have said what I said, you'd have said what you said back, that it was just about him never appearing, and we'd all be fine and happy. I definitely wasn't accusing you of anything negative other than what I thought it was a lazy comparison. It reminded me of other similar things, but not from you of course. Genuinely don't want to irritate you at work though, so sorry about that. I have high hopes for Marvellous.

Gil scored against Arsenal though
Did he? I only remember goals against Bournemouth and Sunderland. Hopefully Jota scores against Arsenal when we play them.

I thought he did well. Genuinely. He looked threatening and as if he had some class about him.

I have the feeling he'll be the next Salifou.
As in, we'll rarely see him.
But I know nothing about him or how he plays, so I'm probably talking shit.
Just at the moment, I can't see him getting in ahead of Jack, John, Conor or Douglas.
(For the record, this was not a comment on any level of racism, but only the slightly lazy comparisons we all make!!)
So basically, he's African and you haven't seen him play yet, so he's the next Salifu. (Yes, I've interpreted your thought process for myself, but what else do you have to go on? It's not like you said he was the next Berson.)
Just like Jota is the next Gil because they're both Spanish.
And any Scottish manager is a dick because of Mcleish.
I know you didn't say those last two things, but we've all seen these exact comparisons. It's really frikking lazy thinking imo. If you wanted to use another point of comparison between Salifu and Nakamba, other than his being African (again, I'm presuming, but, again, really – why else would you make the comparison?), why don't you compare transfer fees? One was £12million or something, the other was about £20. Or why don't you compare the clubs they were at before, and the standard of the football? One was playing in the Champions League for Brugge along with two of our other signings, and by all accounts, was one of the star players, the other had played 20 games for FC Wil. But, no, he's African and you haven't seen him play, so he's like Salifu.
I think my only point is this: I doubt he's the next Salifu!

Can't see any major reason to change the starting line up against Bournemouth. Those that came on looked poor, although the situation they were thrown into would have been difficult for the best in the world to do anything about. Changes need to happen earlier against Bournemouth, even if we're winning I think or we risk finding ourselves falling flat at 70 mins again. But as for the starting 11:
I don't rate Taylor or Elmo, but they performed acceptably well against spurs and keep their places for me.
Luiz looked extremely unfit so unless he can get match fit in a week he stays on the bench. Nakamba may earn a call up if he is fit.
Grealish had a mare of a game, but think he'll have got the wake up he needed.
Kodjia looked woeful and Wesley needs time to get settled, but Wesley looked comfortably the better of the two.
Only possible thing to change I think will be on the wings, but they didn't really get much chance to show themselves in the opposing half. I'd go with trez and Jota (even though I love aeg), as I think el Ghazi would offer the biggest threat against tired legs and might benefit from the confidence a good late cameo will offer.
Heaton
Elmo Engels Mings Taylor
Hourihane
McGinn Grealish
Jota Wesley Trez
Grealish didn't have a mare. He lost the ball twice, sure, but the rest of the time he looked great. I don't think I've ever seen him lose the ball before, so those two possession losses are seared into my brain.

Very interesting.
Firstly I think he’s going to be great for us.
However his tracking for their second and tackle for their third were poor, things Hourihane would be slaughtered for.
This is true. I was so against playing Hourihane there, but he was fine in comparison. I think Luis looked off the pace (the Spurs pace...they were very strong in the second half). It was a near impossible situation to come in and make a difference. Hopefully Nakamba or Luis make the position their own soon enough through their quality, which we're all hoping they have.

Here we go.
New Season and the start of what looks to be blaming one or two guys instead of seeing it for what it is.
Which is that Spurs are a fantastic team, top four in fact, we did amazing at first to defend our lead while we were pushed back. Didn't half take spurs a while to break us down to the point spurs had us backed up so bad they were throwing all sorts at us, could have easily been more.
I just don't see that blaming anyone or just one person here is the way to go, if anything blame Spurs, better on the ball, we got dominated by a well oiled, seasons moulded squad. Spurs also caused to many tactical fouls while we were on the ball, something I really thought wasn't a thing that bad in the premier, plus that ref I couldn't bloody stand, he may many questionable bad choices.
See I dint like Kodjia on the pitch, yet till we've had a 50/50 game, you just can't go blaming the man. For what was one squad who were thrown together faster that a bacon sarnie can be cooked and the other who are like aged meat, i dont think we played bad, we certainly caught them out.
I agree. Context was we were playing one of the best teams in the league. We were hard to break down and had a few chances ourselves. We definitely didn't deserve a 3-1.

I don't recall wolves getting any drubbings last season. I don't see why bottle job Villa fans are expecting us to go out there and roll over after Smith spent 120m. I want top 10 this season.
I imagine you won't be happy unless we secure that by Christmas.

The surprise might be starting with Luiz, if there is one IMO.
Or Marvellous. He's had more time to train and settle. He'd be crazy not to play one of them at DM.

I think we are short one forward—someone who could have played on the wing or up front and got goals. I think this could be a big problem. I hope Kodj and Davis step up a level, but we have to be realistic here too—the jury is out. It just goes to show how much of a rebuild we needed this summer that we sign this many players and still could do with 1/2 more.
I don't have much faith today. I think we'll have Hourihane at DM, and as much as I like him as a player, he was barely good enough in the Championship in that position. He will cost us goals and we're playing the Champions League Finalists. He's not quick enough to play there and we're not good enough to pin Spurs back and dominate possession to compensate. I fear a drubbing. I hope to be surprised though. I'm excited, but I think managed expectations is clearly the way to go.
I expect we'll be in a battle in the lower half of the table. I hope for better! Just as long as we stay up and get a chance to build more next year.

There are no stupid questions - just people; a few of which seem to be on here.
When seeing other fans posting I just wondered if villa talk was similar to vital football/vitalvilla, I guess not
Ha sorry. I think secretly I knew you may have been thinking that.

Hilarious and constructive. Have a sweetie.
I'm asking how visiting fans visit and post? Is villa talk a branch from other football forums?
To be fair these are very stupid questions! Have you used much of the internet? Presumably you signed up to villa talk, so you must know how to register for things.

It'd be eyerolling if an English footballer went abroad and they sang about him eating fish and chips and being stuck up.

Sold him to Cardiff
My word. They gave him a four-and-a-half year deal! And spent £3million on him when in the Prem.

The other five Brentford players from their first 11 last year must have been rubbish.

Bloody hell you guys are a barrel of laughs ain’t ya.
Perhaps we should all be doing a synchronised rendition of Beethoven’s 7th symphony for 90 minutes..........
This is an easy response to make, but is it actually funny singing about black guys having big dicks? Where's the actual humour? What's the point?

Yep it's an embarrassing chant. It's not funny. It's not clever. It's stupid.

Haha. Sorry tbh, it's bad of me to post what I did, ironically for my lazy thinking. The truth is I/we see so many posts by so many people and I made a pattern of behaviour by probably conflating a dozen posts by a dozen people. I shouldn't have bothered writing what I did. My bad. I was procrastinating and I got carried away! And I hate the other guys too. Apologies again.
