  1. I've been told by an excellent source that it centres on a training ground bust up with Gabby Agbonlahor yesterday.

Seems a pathetic reason to leave but given his history doesn't surprise me.

  2. There is some historical naivety going on there I am afraid Omariqy. Islam was spread via violent conquest and in warfare that has always meant that civilians have suffered, especially those non-Muslims who were persecuted thereafter under the new administration. The aftermath of sieges always saw a break down in discipline with spikes in looting and rapes.

You also have to appreciate that there was no real concept of childhood as we know it today. Mohammed himself supposdily bedded his 9 year old bride after marrying her 3 years previously, presumably because she'd had her period and was therefore considered a woman.

    *Edit for my dippy spelling.

    So was Christianity.

The entire continents of America and Australasia say hi - you appear to be confusing medieval fuckwittery with religious fuckwittery.

Every single crime you have cited has been perpetrated by peoples of every creed/faith/culture/whatever because its not about religion. Its about social development and evolution.

IS are not pissed off because they are muslims. IS are pissed off because the traditional mud hut power base is being eroded. Their kids have access to Western (not necessarily better) freer culture and they want a piece of it. The fundies don't want that because they lose control. If their kids are checking facebook wearing jeans and drinking coke they will start to question the relevance of the opinion of the bloke with the massive beard. They are the ultimate right wing reactionaries, they just happen to be brown and use religion as their excuse.

Then why are Muslims killing none believers i.e Christians in places like Kenya if it is nothing to do with religion?? Why are IS killing non believers (not muslims) and even killing Muslims of a different sects if it's nothing to do with religion??

  3. Well you could argue that since he has played we have not lost 2 out of 3 games, which for us is good.

My post said that i don't think he is up to speed, he plays too far up the pitch, and he gets caught out of position. However, he is strong, competitive, aggressive and quick. He is good in the tackle, competes in the air, and defends the edge of the box better than any other midfielder we have.As the Makelele role he is ideal.

Now, for me, leave Sanchez deep, and let Cleverley. and Westwood to do what they are supposed to be good at, being positive, but to be fair, they both look incapable of providing anything from midfield. No goals, no assists, therein lies the problem.

You could also argue he cost us the Tottenham game, cost us the QPR game, the Arsenal game was THE worst home debuts I have ever seen, he nearly cost us the Hull game when he stupidly gave away a needless free kick which lead to their goal

Sylla was strong and competitive but he was hardly any good. Westwood can tackle as well but at least can pass a ball and has the potential to create an assist whilst causing the minimal liability.

  4. We'll get relegated with a midfield of Delph, Cleverley and Westwood.

I'm struggling to see anything positive that any of our midfield did last night. Now i can excuse Sanchez, firstly because i think he is coming up to the pace of the game, and secondly because i think he is a good defensive midfielder, so his game is to win the ball and pass it on.Now , for me, neither Cleverley or Westwood done one good positive thing last night.

Westwoods attempt to play Weimann through late in the 2nd half, for me highlighted both Villas and Westwoods deficiencies, not able to complete the pass because of poor quality.Going forward we are incredibly poor.Westwood wasn't the worst last night, in fact he was probably the best of the midfield, but if hes our best, then that is our problem.

An ok player in a poor team.

Mmm if Sanchez wasn't Columbian with a cool ass afro would you still be so excusing of Sanchez?? He is woeful fella come on. Every game I have seen of him he gives the ball away every time. A major liability and in the situation we are in right now we can't afford to wait for him to settle like we could for a Petrov or Angel.

Now poor old Westwood with his boring English name who is consistently our best midfielder with the most assists, you can't excuse.

Just dont get where you are coming from.

  5. The only sure way that the UK has to deal with a problem is extrajudicial execution of its own citizens?

Yep. These people officially gave up on British values the day they went to join IS, they carry a UK passport but they are no more British than a man from Mars.
So we decide how 'British' someone is (and whether or not it's okay for the state to execute them without any sort of due process or legal oversight or whatever) due to some subjective test of whether they've 'given up' on a rather nebulous concept such as British values.

In my warped mind, I have things like the desire for due process, legal oversight and not allowing the state such carte blanche under this banner of 'British values'.

So if you join IS, you are still as British as fish n chips according to Snowychap. I've heard it all now.

  6. Ferguson is burning amidst gunshots and tear gas. Clashes with police in Oakland, Seattle, LA and NYC, where protesters have shut down the Brooklyn Bridge apparently.

These protesters are complete morons. 'Im so outraged by the decision, im gonna loot myself a 60 inch TV from Walmart'.

  7. A man needs to kill replicants who have come to Earth... so he does. The end. It's just too straight forward and not a lot actually happens.

There is more to a great film than that ajax.

The opening scence for example STILL is one of the greatest and most beautiful in film history. The atmosphere of the film is like no other as is the haunting soundtrack. Considering it was made in the 80's it still remains one of the best films visually of any genre. It's a masterpiece.

TBF it took me 2-3 watches before I realised this. Give it another watch.

  8. link

Khalid Mahmood MP for Perry Barr suggests "at least" 2000 British Passport holders are fighting for IS in Iraq and Syria, saying that in Birmingham alone "it is a huge, huge problem".

For context that number is greater than 3 full strength Infantry Battalions, or slightly more than twice the number of fighting men than were deployed by the British army to Helmand in 2006.

Have not (yet) seen any rebuttal to the article by government spin meisters.

Glad to see the UK is doing it's bit in the latest phase of the Middle East conflict.

The enemy within and its truly the most terrifying prospect this country has ever faced.

Hopefully these 2000 never return to our shores again. Im sure there are 10,000's more from this country that have or will join IS

  9. For example, this thread hadn't been touched since yesterday.

We now have two annoyance threads, three movie threads and a bloody Christmas thread

yep it seems like we are living in Hollywood where everyone has ran out of ideas so they 're-boot' old threads

    'the most underrated .............'

    'the most overrated ............'

'this pisses me off but shouldn't'

'this pisses me off but should'

    'best film ever'

    'worst film ever'

we had a 'best moment of your life thread yesterday' I'm just waiting for Michael Bay to sign up to the forum and come exploding in with a 'worst moment of your life' thread

Although the 'things that piss you off that should' thread is bordering on the most pointless ever, its refreshing to see new threads created rather then continuing the same old 'general thread' which imo kills off topic.

Remember when I started a thread about 'how much do you have in your account'. Received a barrage of abuse.

    No **** wonder.

Why? I don't know you. You don't know me. Why would it be such a problem. It's a question you wouldn't ask a friend. But a stranger on an online forum what's the **** problem? Its interesting.

  10. You're being the smart arse, if you think Algieri is the only option for Pacquiao you need to have your head checked. This is just a crude fight organised by Arum in order to try and get Pacquiao his first knock out since Cotto.

You should be a politician Dr Know-it-all. You keep avoiding the question. Who else right now can Pacman REALISTICALLY fight?? FFS not hard is it to name some names if you keep saying there are loads of names out there.

  12. Hope im wrong but have a feeling Bellew will knock Cleverly out tonight. Cleverly has looked poor in his last two fights since Kolavev and his best friend with little boxing experience is training him which doesnt sound ideal. At evens a Bellew win is a great bet.

The Undercard is bordering on a disgrace considering its PPV. Not a single 50/50 fight or even 60/40 for that matter. Mismatchs and uninspiring fights but im sure the casual no nothings will lap it up.

  13. The Algieri fight is bizarre, he hasn't earned a shot at Pacquiao. His range and height may trouble Pacquiao early on but Pacquiao will pull away and win easy and I half fancy him to win by stoppage, he has looked fantastic in some of the training footage I've seen of him in the past week.

That said, underwhelming fight, Pacquiao should be fighting better, his last fight was against a legit top pound for pounder (probably top 5 at that time) but he shouldn't be stepping in with the Algieri's of this world.

But who else out there is there for him to fight realistically?? He should have been fighting Provodikinov but Algieri ruined that one. No one wants to see the Bradley fight again and JMM is getting boring now. There is no one else.

  14. I've got to say with Big Lebowski that it gets better on second (or more) viewing imo

where as there will be blood I think I dislike more every time i see it

There Will be Blood is a masterpiece. The best film of the 00's.

  15. Gangs of New York

    The Deer Hunter

Id personally say Gangs of New York was underrated. I've heard many people say it was Scorsese's worst film but personally I really liked it. Daniel Day Lewis' performance was one of the best ive seen in my lifetime.

  17. For this year GOTG. I don't even think it's THAT bad but from what I've read on here you would be led to believe it's on par with Citizen Kane.

The Avengers on the other hand IMO was a pile of shite. I found it unbearable to watch.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has to be number 1 though. Never been a fan of Usual Suspects either. The Big Lewowski has to be up there as well.

  18. I know 'Only Lovers Left Alive' was officially released in 2013, but it didn't have a wide UK released until Feb 2014, so sod it - film of the year by a considerable distance.

I've yet to see this. I'll give it a watch tonight.

  19. To be fair, saying its close to the best film ever is about as wrong as Donnie saying it's utter shite ;)

It's really not though. My opinion is shared by quite a few others. It's 94 in the IMDb top 250 showing that quite a few more people think it's one of their favourite films than think it's awful. Me saying that it's close on the best film ever is supported by evidence.

This may sound serious but it's not really. I just know I'm right here :-)

Take no notice of the IMDB rankings. Interstellar is number 12 of the best ever films ever ffs. Any comic book or Nolan film gets stupidly high ratings on there due to the comic book nerds who have ruined the site.
