1. Froch's range and jab would cause GGG problems as GGG is open to the jab.

Because GGG is destroying a shitty 160lb division people seem to think he is the next coming of Sugar Ray Leonard. Fighting Froch he will be coming against an elite level tall, strong opponent at a higher weight. Froch will destroy Golovkin.

He really won't.
What evidence do you have to say he wont?? His best win was Matthew Macklin ffs. It will be a repeat of Arthur Abraham v Froch if it happened.

LOL GGG and Abraham are nothing like each other, Golovkin has way more skill, it's obvious to anyone who understands boxing that Golovkin has great footwork, is brilliant at cutting the ring off and is exceptional at setting up his punches, Abraham is very flat footed, stays behind a high guard and just throws punches without much thought behind them.

I agree that Froch's range can give Golovkin problems, also you have to factor in Froch's physical strength, but from what I've seen I think Golovkin will be able set traps for Froch, he'd have a lot of success to the body, Golovkin has more power than Froch, and is far more intelligent a boxer than pretty much all of Froch's opponents (outside of Ward and Dirrell). I see Golovkin breaking down Froch in a war.

In terms of Golovkin's competition, it's clear that his best win was against Daniel Geale, who was a very solid champion. His competition overall has been weak, but that's because he has been avoided by the likes of Sturm, Martinez, Quillin etc. That said, sometimes you have to just recognise skill and not be ignorant, Golovkin has very high level skill, no one else cuts the ring off and sets traps like he does. Really, the only person I see beating him in and around his weight is Andre Ward, precisely because he has the skill to neutralise what Golovkin is best at, Froch does not have that skill.

Never once compared Golovkin to Abraham, they are totally different fighters, im saying the manor of the result will be the same.

Froch is a solid 168lb. Other then a lack of concentration against Groves, he has one of the best chins in Boxing. He will walk through Golovkin's punches and pick him a part with the jab.

4. GGG's manager has came out and said he would love to come to England to fight Froch. I would love to see that fight but dont think Froch wants it.

Would be interesting to see him step down a division to fight canelo and cotto. Personally think he would destroy cotto but the canelo fight would be very interesting.

5. Best episode of TWD ever!! I stopped watching after the first few episodes of season 2 as it was utter cack. Glad I gave in to popular demand to carry on watching from season 3 onwards. Despite one or two annoyingly pointless episodes, it has been superb. You woukd would think by now the writer's would have run out of ideas but it some how it just gets better and better.

I read it was the highest viewed episode of any show ever in the US on cable tv.

6. On a purely anecdotal and therefore invalid (cos I ain't got a link) basis, loads of mates in building and other skilled trades are adamant that their wages/rates have gone down since 2005 because of cheaper competition from overseas.

I'm not sure they'd have much time for the dry opinions of economists, they just know what they know.

most of the eastern european labour in that market went back home years ago
I don't think that's true. I deal with construction agencies in the South East, and there certainly seem to be lots still getting paid.
In Liverpool I hardly see any involved in contraction any more. Lots of truck drivers, hotel staff, market traders etc but works all tend to be scouse again

So you have gone from 'most of the European workers in that market have gone home' to 'in Liverpool I hardly see any...'. FFS

7. Right. UKIP got more votes than any other party in the country and the most MEP's across the nations of the UK. That's what a national election is, not the election for the national parliament, but nevertheless a national election. That's why all the politicians, the newspapers, the broadcasters and any remotely interested voters said, "oh look UKIP just won a national election".

You do see that, right?

Of course he doesn't. His copy of the Guardian didnt tell him that. ;-)

8.
Then type what you want to spoil and close the tag with
Obviously without the space between 'spoiler' and ']', though.

Cheers mate. Now please everybody watch Gommorah.

Is there any need to now you and (Donnie) have explained it to us?
Yes. Yes there is.

I thought tonight was the final episode but the sky listings is incorrect, next week's is. Another incredible episode. Easily the best show on TV right now along with Boardwalk Empire.

9. It's interesting to think about & it occurred to me when I was thinking about my own list, is all. Cinema's 'male gaze' is well documented and I do think people should take a moment to think about the lack of diversity in what they are watching, or reading, or playing on a regular basis.

You really beat yourself up about being a white male dont you CED...why dont you become a black trannie then you might finally find peace :-)

10. Gonna be all out war in the next episode. Was harsh the way Conte killed the kid though.

Yeah it was but I guess he had to as he would have lost face if he didnt as the lad killed his guy. Ciro torturing that girl shocked me the most. We was led to believe he was the 'good guy'. Nah, they are no good guys in this show.

11. Does anybody watch Gommorah??

Yeah I do. Absolutely mindblowing TV. I've waited for years for something to match the wire and Soprano's. Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Games of thrones have come close. Gommorah beats all of those although as it's only one season in. Just wish there was someone to cheer for!
Glad I'm not the only one that feels this :)

Love it.

The soundtrack is sick! Shame its the last episode tomorrow. Hope Conte wastes that prick Ciro.

12. Does anybody watch Gommorah??

Yeah I do. Absolutely mindblowing TV. On par with shows like Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Games of thrones although needs another season or two before being on the same level as The Wire and The Sopranos. Preferred fat, pathetic Genny to the new bad ass Genny. Just wish there was someone to cheer for!

13. It is hardly mass protests like we saw against Isreal is it.

You've given up on the 'mass celebrations' after September 11th line, then?

No. But it is not relevant to this is it so what's your point?.

Why do you have a comma between line and then?. Bet it got you all excited typing that so you needed a pause to finish the sentence.

14. I have flights between countries booked the rest is just winging it, well sort of.

So I start in Sri Lanka where I am there for 4 days (flight times cut it down). I'm booking everything for that. Taking in Sirigiya, Minnersa, Worlds End, Yala and Negombo.

After that it's 2 nights in Singapore nothing booked for that.

Thailand for 30 days, got 4 days around Full moon party booked and a week at an elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai. After that everything else is winged, depending on who I meet and what crops up. Will be in BK a few and will try other places , probably Phi Phi and others down south.

I have 2.5 months in Aus flying to Cairns just before Christmas and leaving from Sydney. Nothing planned here.

NZ another 2 months again nothing planned, even though defo want to do Queenstown for bungee jump and canyon swing as well as some of the LOTR mountains. Leave from Auckland where I have a mate so I will stay with him for a bit.

Fiji for 3 weeks, just plan to island hop. Hopefully will have learnt to scuba dive so may go out with the Tiger Sharks.

Final week in USA. In LA a night on my own (well outside of people I meet). My sister and her husband are coming down from San Fran the second night, we are then heading to some mountain my sister wants to hike (didn't really pay attention to what she was saying as didn't mind what to do). Final three nights in Vegas staying at the Aria (sister has booked and paid for this). I have the final night and day on my own.

I have an option to alter flights for free (with a weeks notice) if I want to alter plans. So we'll see. Can't wait now it's all I can focus on.

(Sorry if the post isn't 100% coherent as had a few tonight) (sorry donnie).

Sounds incredible! Rather then 30 days in Thailand though couldn't you allocate some of that time to seeing parts of Cambodia and Vietnam so at least you can say you have been there. Chaing Mai gets boring after 3 nights and I cant imagine all the islands of Thailand being all that much different to one another (I liked koh tao the best FWW).

Burn-ISIS-Flag-Challenge.jpg

So it turns out there are Muslims who condemn these acts and are against ISIS, :o who know.......

It is hardly mass protests like we saw against Isreal is it.

They did a piece on the One Show a few weeks back asking Muslim residents of Sparkbrook their opinion on what IS were doing. You know what?? Not one of them spoke out against IS or condemned them. Same old BS 'it's America's fault aint't it'.

16. Its not just PPV for the main fight though its for the event as a whole. As well as Cleverly v Bellew you have Joshua v Sprott which is a decent step up for Joshua, James Degale is on the bill against an unnamed top 5 fighter, Quiqq is defending his pretend world title against a world ranked opponent, and crolla v kevin mitchell is also rumoured.

The best PPV held 4 years ago contained no main event and took place in Brum...the magnificent seven.

17. I think it's more of the attitude that goes with it (I don't know what their raid was like - it may well have been very well mannered with lots of friendly knocking on doors and cups of tea), that is: in terms of policing, law making, lack of accountability (see the reports on the police and politicians comments to the press) and so on.

Trotted out by many is the line about defending our freedom(s) as much as our person(s) with the often implicit (though sometimes explicit) caveat that, of course, we might need to temporarily and for some certain types of people set them aside a bit (or more).

My mind can't comprehend the excessive amount of brackets used in this post.

Tbf, I think that went without saying. ;)

Edit: (sorry donnie) x 6

That's okay snowychap :-)

18. My opinion is that he's been a good player for us generally, although he's always had his faults, and excellent this year.

My opinion is also that some people use any reason to have a go at him and it's been like that (as Stevo says)(sorry donnie) since he's signed.

No polarised viewpoint from me here.

You're correct he has been a good player for us. I disagree he has been a KEY player for us.

19. If we are basing it purely on this season, why isn't the Nathan Baker thread packed with posts saying how much we missed him? He's been pretty crucial in the games he has played.

Are you really asking this question?

Reallllllllly?

It's a fair point. With that in mind, you probably haven't actually read it.

I'll bite.

Baker has played well once this year. And many people said we'd miss him in various threads before and after the game. Before that he's been atrocious for 2 years.

Westwood has played well in 4 games. Before that he's been a key player for us.

If you can't see the difference you're beyond help.

A key player?? Delph has been a key player for us. Benteke has been a key player for us especially his first season. Vllar has been a key player for us. Westwood has NOT been a key player for us. At times he was awful last year. Do you not remember this Steffan?? He has been excellent value for money and right now he would be in most people's starting 11. But never ever has he been a key player.

20. I like how by Westwood missing one game, he has suddenly became the reincarnation of Franz Beckenbauer.

I like Westwood alot. The haters need to pay greater attention to what he brings to the side. However, ffs he is no more then a mid table player and if by some miracle we ever manage to challenge the top 6 in a couple of years I doubt very much he would be in the starting 11. He is a good player for the level we are at now but just dont think he is good enough to step up to the next level which is fine right now.

He wouldnt have made that much of a difference yesterday tbh. He is a hardly a keane or a viera, the leader of the team. With or without him it would have been the same score. If vllar was playing instead of that clown clark then we might have seen a different score.
