Not how I see it. By accepting the hostages back, it weakens their stance to achieve what the actually want. They will kill their own citizens in air strikes before they’d lose any PR traction.

If you’re referring to me, then not true. When Hamas did what they did I was absolutely against it. That wasn’t Israel’s fault. There is a backdrop to that adds perspective but doesn’t excuse it, or justify it - it was 100% wrong. Not only was it wrong it was stupid, reckless, and a PR disaster. They have brought the wrath of a superpower upon themselves, and that is understandable. They should release the hostages unconditionally and immediately. There is no blame in that scenario to Israel. But cutting off water supplies, blocking humanitarian aid, and indiscriminate bombing is unacceptable, and these are all things considered war crimes for this exact reason. It is universally accepted that it is unacceptable. It needs to stop, for the love of humanity - and a better solution than collective punishment found. On a side note: I don’t know the validity, or why there hasn’t been any progress on this front… you’d think this was what israel wanted?

And therefore the war should stop, no?

Oh, ok. you win. I don’t have any evidence. The Palestinian are lying. Carry on ‘bombing’ - which I also don’t have any evidence of, so maybe I should rephrase that: carry on bombing if you are bombing in the first place at all.

But what is it that you’re unsure of? What exactly is it that you can’t see? What evidence are you looking for? that’s not engagement. It’s saying ‘well, is it REALLY happening though? We don’t know for sureeeeee’ Look, the problem here is that even the people in the ‘middle’ like yourself are questioning whether the situation on the ground is as bad as it’s made out to be. What hope is there for the bombing to end while even people like yourself are doubting it?

The conflict isn’t about religion. The Muslims and the Christian’s were getting along fairly normally before the British forced a new people in. They would get along fine if the invader didn’t have ambitions to take the whole land for themselves. The conflict is about theft & abuse - and the West having a presence in the Middle East. The British creating problems wherever they go. Why should they leave their home? The whole process is designed to get rid of them.

yeah that’s a tough read. But let’s be honest They’re never going to get support from the west, even if their charter read to create a land of unicorns and flying dolphins. But you’re right, it’s a PR disaster. The likud manifesto is no better in reality, but clearly better (less murderously) worded. It talks about how they will claim all the land between the sea and the river Jordan, and kill the PLO. And settle EVERYWHERE. However they’ve been smart enough to say ‘without dispossession’ - even though they do it anyway. They need to get rid of both these parties and start from scratch. The hard part really is that the Palestinians are getting no breaks at all. Even when every country in the world bar the US say the Israeli occupation is illegal, and the settlements must stop… they just continue with impunity. it’s been a long time now, just draw the lines and let the people live. The terror organisations (both Hamas and Likud) feed off the fear of the people. Let them lead happy lives and you would hope these organisations will become obsolete. But the current state of unilateral favouritism shows no sign of abating, it’s so damn obvious it’s infuriating. There are Israelis who will have fought harder for the Palestinian cause than even some Palestinians. So painting everyone with the same brush is ridiculous. This crap needs to end. Needs to start with an olive branch, not more murder.

I’m not defending Hamas. I’ve said already that it was an awful act. there’s posters on here suggesting it’s 100% ok for israel to bomb the whole of palestine, and this is 100% the fault of Hamas. I absolutely condemn Hamas’ actions. These guys will never criticise Israel, or admit that both sides are at fault. That’s the issue here. Buzz words, and unilateral application of terror winds me up. This is an extremely complex situation with multiple nuances both historical and contemporary, but a couple of posters just regurgitating emotionless inhuman garbage about further loss of life being justified - it’s disgusting. The rockets should stop, and the bombs should stop. What kind of normal human being welcomes the loss of further life? ‘100% Hamas fault for any Palestinian loss of life now’.
