  1. I posted a similar question earlier, fulham have got a better manager now, if Hughes does come to Villa then that makes our expectations less than Fulhams I'm not sure it's the right thread for discussing it, but what makes Jol a better manager than Hughes? Err... Only he has been far more successful than Hughes Oh right, I must have missed that period of Jol's career in managerial terms, what has hughes won? ever? what has been hughes top finish in the league? jol, while no master has won the dutch cup 2 times and finished 5th in the premiership, both things beat anything hughes has done. i cant understand this love in with hughes, an average manager who has never done anything people like david oleary havent done. hughes has been a manager for 11 years, yes thats right, 11 years. he is not some new manager learning his trade. ancelotti has only managed 4 years more than him and has won shed loads of trophies for his clubs. Hughes Wales - got them into top 30 in world rankings, currently ranked about 130! Blackburn - kept them consistantly in the top 8 without spending any money...and often losing best players Man City - Were 5th when they sacked him...sacked too early in my opinion. Majority of his team won FA Cup Fulham - Achieved a top 8 finish in his first season whilst spending very little...whilst we finished 9th having spent £30m in January Jol Spurs - Spent a shit load of money and finished 5th twice...despite being in pole position for 4th in one of his seasons...bottler Ajax - Finished behind Steve McClarens Twente, whilst at a much bigger club...and won the dutch cup (with the biggest team in Holland) I certainly know I would choose Hughes out of the 2!
  2. I wish the Ancelotti stuff hadn't reared it's head again...that means I'll have to get over the disappointment again now!!

  5. Rafa Benitez has been suspiciously quiet in the press lately...
  6. True, he said GH was coming back about a week before he left
  7. I think it's gonna be Rafa now...and I quite like the idea of having a b*****d in our corner, fighting for the Villa cause!
  8. Feck off you blue nose fanny and get a life Judging by that chavvy retarded comment I think you should take your own advice. Someone likes a different manager than the majority and they get abused. Tell me about it!!
  9. Would you be happy with Mcleish? Finished as high as 9th with Brum (unthinkable now), won them their first ever trophy and got them into the UEFA Cup.. Plus, your point doesn't really work because McClaren never got anyone relegated. Only because Wolfsburg had the sense to get rid of him before he managed it :winkold: Fortunately, SHA arn't that bright! Wolfsburg were 12th when he left, they finished 16th (and only saved themselves on the last day), so they didn't actually get any better when he left.

  11. Would you be happy with Mcleish? Finished as high as 9th with Brum (unthinkable now), won them their first ever trophy and got them into the UEFA Cup.. I would be happy with McLeish, I think he's a good manager. Don't particularly like his style of football...but thats another matter. You forget with B'ham that he hardly spent any money last season (mainly loans) and their best defender (Dann) was injured for half the season.
  12. ^^ Finished as high as 7th with Boro (unthinkable now), won them their first ever trophy and got them to a UEFA Cup final....it may not impress you, but it impresses me. If he has a foreign name, everyone would be drooling at the prospect of seeing him at Villa.
  13. But he was at Boro, what do you expect? A 50% win rate? He is a good manager, he has a league title to his name aswell as a league cup, both with small clubs too. He may not be my number 1 choice, but he is a very good manager and should be backed by supporters if he's appointed. But that is the problem, he wouldn't be. Due to his England days he is viewed as such a joke manager in this country that if we were to appoint him he immediately makes us a joke club. He would be disastrous on so many levels. Oh, I know he won't be backed if he's appointed, but he should be! England was poor, but Capello (a champions league winning manager) is hardly doing much better is he? People need to look past 'the brolly' and look at the manager, a very good one. No one has to like him, just back him...you never know he might just win us a trophy!!

  15. I don't know how you put up with it General!! If it's McClaren, then it's McClaren, he has a good track record and has something to prove. I wish people would just support whoever is appointed rather than threatening to 'abandon' the club! Good luck with the search General and I'm sure Randy will appoint the best man for the job, whether thats McClaren or someone else.
  16. Will make us look very small time! "Here's a quality manager, lets get down on our knees and beg" It should be an honour to manage Villa, we shouldn't have to beg!
  17. I went on the website and it states it is under maintenance?? you got a link? Halfway down page 5, poster is forevaavillan1
  18. The ITK on AVillaFan forum says "Ancelotti will be staying at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club from Monday" Anyone fancy setting up a tent outside??
  19. Not very. One of their writers Neil Moxley was adamant yesterday that Ancelotti wasn't interested....next day they print that he will join this week!!
  20. Holy Crap - Mail on Sunday says Randy coming over next week to oversee appointment of Ancelotti!!!
