The frustrating aspect for me in many games is the lack of urgency. Control is great but control can mean fast as well as slow. We’re sometime “chasing” games in injury time and knock it around at the back like we’re 3-0 up. And there are some players who play to the “system” at the cost of some imagination, like Cash with the constant check inside and resetting.
-
All this checking inside.

If true... Oops.
It’s a strange one, this whole saga. I absolutely detest the trademarked version and yet the Bosko’s boot fellow’s version with the claret overlay on the lion suddenly transforms it into something I could get behind.

Agree with those who are nervous, but taking a step back, who would have thought after match day 1 we would have the opportunity to go 17 points clear of Newcastle in the return fixture. That would be a 20 point turnaround!

I've already started the 'Give it Slippy G' campaign. He knows the club.
Off topic I know, but I will laugh a lot that the Liverpool job will have become vacant nearly three years after Slippy joined us and he won’t be getting it.

I was born in 1988 so I'm in my 36th year of life and I've lived in 37 years. Doesn't change the fact I'm 35.
You agree then that 2024/25 is not the club’s 150th season but its 151st?
-
1874/75 was our first season which makes 2023/24 our 150th season, at the end of which we will be 150 years old. Just in case anyone from the club reads these pages.

Good grief. Not the Grealish weight bearing injuries. He might never come back.
Unless he goes to Man City and the longer term injury issues mysteriously disappear.

I do, but I'm not as successful as you and your comedy career obviously...
I was more admiring how you have managed to do all the great designs to share with us in your spare time while all the badge dramas have unfolded. Apologies if that is not how it came across.

Would we? When? Doug would have gone for the cheapest option available and then still moaned about the price.
Doug’s legacy is the real problem here. It always used to aggravate me when uninformed media would tell us what a great job he had done of redeveloping Villa Park. He made a pig’s ear of it. After the Taylor report, a generously costed masterplan incorporating our most iconic asset (the old Trinity) would have seen us with an historic and beautiful stadium which was large enough.

Since Arsenal we've taken five points from four games, that's our worst run this season from a four game spell, but it's not something to be particularly worried about, Champions League qualifers Arsenal, Man Utd, and Newcastle all had two spells last season where they took less points than from a four game period than we have taken in the four games since Arsenal, going on a little run like that once or twice a season is normal for all teams unless they're showing Man City/Liverpool at their best type consistency.
Spurs this season had a run where they took just one point from five games, maybe they won't go on a run as bad as that again, but they will have furthermore spells where they drop points, they aren't going to be consistently brilliant.
8 points from 5 games. Which you could say is a disallowed goal away from 2 points a game.

2009 says hello wasn't we 7 points clear of Arsenal who were 5th. Finished that season 6th...
‘Tis true. But in 2009 we had a manager who ran the legs off the same 11 or 12 players, thought Heskey was our answer to Arshavin and played a rather one-dimensional style (as exciting as it could be when it worked).

I just thought I'd pop my head into this thread to scream into the void for a second about how we've not officially announced a crest yet. Is it just me that's getting a bit frustrated?
Me too, particularly having seen the improved version “leaked” by Bosko chappie.

I was dismayed by the trademark but very impressed by the novel use of gold and claret for the lion in the digital version.

Maybe we aren't that strapped for FFP then if we're splashing €9m euros on a player who won't even be here this season?
That’s not how it works though. The €9m plus his wages are divided by the number of years of his contract up to a maximum of 5 and that is the expenditure for FFP per year.

Another slight niggle is the way Luiz gets sucked into pettiness and personal battles instead of focusing on his job.

I understand the need not to risk the point in injury time but I do find the complete lack of urgency frustrating at times.

The fans have to be in favour of "material change". What we've seen from the trademarked new badges doesn't constitute material change.
Yes, and I think that is why the club believe they are compliant with the rules. I am not saying I agree with the loophole, if you can call it that.

In terms of FA rules, the issue will be whether Heck’s new badge is a “material change”. It is compared to the fan-approved round badge. It probably isn’t compared to Lerner mark II.

The thing about this design is that, even if there was something else I preferred, this one captures something that Heck’s doesn’t. It’s hard to put into words. The claret on blue, the gold border and the lovely shape.

To be so close when we’ve had almost seven decades off is pretty amazing!

And the third goal came from poor decision making when we had the ball.
