Too young yet....He needs some time to develop.

Even JT was c 20 before he started in the first team....its a position you need to be a good reader, amongst many things.

Terry was 17 when he made his debut for Chelsea, I can see this lad being a better player than Terry. He just has everything, I want to put a bet on him to play for England. On top of that, he seems to have a good temperament too

Mee seems to have a History of it.

    Gomez, not for me.

We’ve got young Josh Feeney coming through, we don’t need a centre back. I’ve seen him a few times for our u23s, we won’t need a centre back with him coming through

This is true but we should at least try to stack the odds in our favour. No matter how good you think Gomez was before he got Ben Mee'd he has looked half the player since.

I agree, it was a terrible incident, after suffering such an injury, it is bound to affect a player mentally and physically. Before the incident, Gomez looked like he was going to be a great player

I'd argue Sven Botman for not much more is far less of a Gamble.

Why do you say this? I don’t know if you are right or wrong, I have only heard of Botman, I haven’t seen him play, so I can’t comment on his ability

He got snapped by Ben Mee

Won't be the same player, Liverpool will be letting him go for a reason, he'll be a huge risk, he's sliding to 5th choice there, worst case scenario he could be a £30m 4th choice CB here

Not sure I'd even be happy with a loan and a clause if I'm honest, think / hope it's a lazy Liverpool link

Any transfer for any player is a gamble, there are no guarantees in football

Having him as a cdm will give us extra protection and allow the fullbacks to bomb forward. its not exciting but needs must.

If it gets results, it doesn’t have to be exciting. We need to get back to being hard to beat like we were last season

  7. I honestly think that across all 92 football league clubs that on any given day, any team can beat any team. I know that sounds stupid but that’s actually the case. I also think that Graham Potter is an excellent young manager, he is an astute tactician. They also have some terrific players like Yves Bissouma, Adam Webster and Robert Sanchez to name but a few. They are now an established Premier League club and this won’t be an easy match, far from it, there are none in the whole football league. There is lots of moaning in this thread and negativity, I am trying to put a positive outlook on things but I don’t think I have done a very good job

I think so, but maybe he’s just seen more of the game. Smith has had some tricky situations to deal with he’s breezed through.

That’s encouraging to hear, I’m a massive fan of Feeney of what I’ve seen so far. I am tempted to go to the bookies to see what odds I can get on Feeney to get an England call up

It shows the dramatic improvement a young player can make in a year, which we often forget and just judge them the first time we see them.

    I think you are correct

it's possible play him different roles, or not play his strength to area or ideal finisher, tactical issues, play of style until he play for cup due villa force play him in cup as Davis injury and we play space to finisher with good player creative around him.

suddenly other club notice this and ask for loan and play his strength that might reason better explain why both different, record ratio goal/games. Preston they have good creative behind him.

I'm believe levels Nation League or Championship even Premiership is don't matter what level for striker, it is about for defender and midfielder, forward is required level, not for striker really.

as long your good at finisher and good off the ball running, and position right time (make sure in front defender or in channel), strength to hold ball when required, Intel play to outwit defender think and position area to defend to force solo focus on him rather focus ball and him. beat defender by pace any level can better player, it is creative job to give u ball to right area to finisher, with huge confidence, (<--which Watkins lack at moment) this striker job. simple job. Forward and Striker is different breed. Archer show you this, he can do so we should play him.

Looking at Barry did to Liverpool not matter lack experience. Like Vardy he come from low level - fleetwood, Leicester see him this his strenght area that why vardy play level between 2 or 3 division big jump and do nothing make different for him.

I think we shouldn't loan him away and he should give him chance from start Gerrard mistake but he is not only, Smith did even Smith start intro him come bench and encourage him, build him up with possible starter. that he was sack, Gerrard come in and sent him loan away, be fair on Gerrard as he didn't know the player as he is new to Villa, but he should've research him and keep him as we only have Ings and Watkins, and should be him understudy both of them rather sent him away.

I think you are right here, don’t forget about Keinan Davis too, he’s doing well in The Championship for Nottingham Forest too. Scoring goals in The Championship and scoring goals in The Championship are 2 different things entirely, I have seen many score a bucket load in The Championship but then couldn’t step up to The Premier League

  11. He’s doing great at Preston but I don’t understand how he can go from scoring 4 goals in 26 matches for Solihull Moors in the National League to scoring 4 goals in 7 matches in The Championship for Preston? That suggests that there isn’t that much of a jump in quality between the 2 divisions. I am delighted that he recently signed a new 4 year contract here. I hope that he is given an opportunity in our first team when he returns from his loan but of course there is lots of competition in his position here. He has a great knack of being in the right place at the right time in the opposition’s penalty area, something that cannot be taught. He has a poacher’s instinct, a real natural talent

I think Luiz will be dropped so can see Gerrard risking it and putting McGinn in at 6 against pretty much bottom of the table and non scoring Watford at home.

    so.....

                                           McGinn

                                      Ramsey   Carney/Sanson

then Ings as CF as other main attacking change.

In my opinion, Ings doesn’t work hard enough for the team to play him up front by himself, others might think differently just for a change!

  13. Gary Cahill against WBA at Villa Park on his debut, he marked Kevin Campbell out of the game, he didn’t give him a sniff. He was absolutely outstanding, I still remember it to this day, some of his blocks and reading of the game was outstanding. I knew from that match on that we had a player on our hands

I don't who we played or the scorers but our U18s won 5-2 today, Ben Broggio made his debut at that level and got an assist, he was playing for our U14s last season.

Sam Proctor, a goalkeeper we signed from Peterborough United also played in this match according to his Instagram

I thought he (Triston Rowe) was a centre-back, but the brief highlights I saw of him made him look more than good enough on the ball to play as a fullback or in midfield. If he's starting for England U16s as a right-back then I imagine that's where he's been playing for us as I doubt England will be short of options in that area to the point that they have to play central-defender out of position.

At his young age a player's position isn't always fixed anyway, he might be a bit like Patterson, who's played central midfield, on the wing, and left-back for England and for us.

I thought he was a centre back too
