I don't who we played or the scorers but our U18s won 5-2 today, Ben Broggio made his debut at that level and got an assist, he was playing for our U14s last season.

Did you get that from his Instagram?

    On the pitch 😉

I’m not sure he’d get in our team now, I definitely don’t know what position. His best years are behind him and he’d want big wages. He’s a top pro and a model professional, any young kid would look up to him, he leads by example and he comes across as being a very nice chap, you never see him in the headlines for the wrong reasons

    Seen Milner linked:

I'd take a 50 year old Milner over some of this lot. We lack characters, leadership and strength. I've always loved Milner, top pro and takes good care of himself.

    Where would he play?

He brought the ball forward at one stage 30/40 yards. Konsa should do that but he didnt

Konsa just does the simple thing every time he gets the ball, I think he has the ability to do more, whether it’s a lack of self belief, I don’t know

I cannot believe some of the comments on here such as “he was rubbish last season” ,utter garbage.

He I not playing well at the moment but it’s not if we have been creating lots of chances for him to miss.

He hasn’t scored for a few games and his confidence is probably very low.I think buying Ings in the summer has affected him.

I don’t know if others remember when we signed Peter Crouch,he had a very slow start, fans started to get on his back .We had to sell him at a loss for 2 million and he ended up at Liverpool and Spurs where his value rose to 12 million.Great business Villa.

With the right team set up and fans behind him I think he can be a very good premier league player as he showed in his first season.

Crouch scored on his debut against Newcastle, didn’t he or am I imagining that?

This is true for pretty much everyone barring Liverpool and Man City, who are just a cut above the rest IMO. The league is very competitive this year.

I agree, it’s very open and exciting. It’s intriguing for us fans neutral or otherwise

His 3 starts this season are Chelsea twice and United. Played also vs Liverpool, City and Leicester

Brentford only poor team he got minutes against. Its all strange

Brentford managed to beat us, what does that say about us? I honestly believe in the Premier League or even the Football League, anyone can beat anyone on any given day, I know it sounds stupid but that’s actually the case

  8. Anyone could see he has talent when he gets on the ball but he just hasn’t settled for whatever reason. It’s rare that these signings from abroad work out, he came here with a big reputation and he looked good on YouTube. Fans expectations generally of players are too high these days, the players aren’t miracle workers, they’re just normal people out there. Us fans all need to get behind the players as one and let them know that we’re behind them and hopefully that’ll spur the players on

Yeah of course… but someone said Chambers didn’t make any mistakes!?

I don’t think anyone should be highlighted for making mistakes. Anyone in the history of the game has made mistakes, it’s how they respond from them that defines them. Even though, it was only their first game together, I thought Mings and Chambers seemed to have a decent partnership

Chambers made a pretty big mistake for their goal!?

Every player in this history of the game has made mistakes, it’s how they react to them that defines them as a player

Unfortunately they lost 5-1 to Germany, but Rowe started the game and made his debut at that level, he wore the No.2 shirt, which might indicate that he was playing right-back, which would also suggest that that's where he's been playing for us.

I was under the impression that he was a centre back but I don’t know

  12. I thought he was more than decent today considering the amount of football he has played over the past couple of years. He seemed to strike up a decent partnership with Mings, he was quite composed and good on the ball. I hope he keeps his place for the next match but if Konsa is fit, I wouldn’t be surprised if he came straight back in

  13. I thought Mings was excellent today, he gave a real captain’s peformance, he barely made any mistakes and led by example. He has shown time and time again in a Villa shirt that he can perform at a more than decent level in the Premier League but is yet still lambasted by much of the fanbase. Chris Wood barely had a chance today, it was a real interesting battle between the 2 of them I thought

  14. Archer has been great for Preston no doubt but he didn’t do so well for Solihull Moors scoring 4 goals in 26 National League matches. That’s the only reason I have a slight reservation about him but the club obviously don’t or he wouldn’t have gotten a new 4 year contract recently. He’s a very natural finisher and is so at home in front of goal. He has been fantastic this season for us and on loan at Preston, let’s see if he can continue on this trajectory

Interesting to see that Feeney was talking about looking forward to next months Euros.

Is there an U17 Championship next month?

I'm already watching the Villa, the U23s and 15 sides we've got players out on loan to - won't someone think of my family!

Where was he talking about looking forward to next month’s Euro’s?

  16. I’d take Lacazette definitely, he’s played for France internationally and for PSG and Arsenal in The Champions League and some of our fans are turning their noses up at him. I think if in the unlikely event of him coming here, some fans would be surprised at how good he actually is

We really are monsters at the U18 level now.

Love the fact that we're picking up players, and on balance - £0.5m to Derby feels OK.
Hopefully this guy goes on and becomes awesome for us, but it doesn't feel like we're picking over the carcass of a struggling club completely with the deal. I really do feel sorry for their supporters.

We seem to be cherrypicking the best young talent at Championship, League 1 and League 2 clubs. All of the top clubs do it but at top clubs they rarely break through to the first team. Hopefully, it’ll be different with us. I hate it when bigger clubs than ourselves come in and take our players like Daniel Crowley all of those years ago, he hasn’t got a club currently, they all are SGC, they all are, all of you tried to tell me back then. I still hold out some hope that others can follow Grealish’s lead and break through but I think it shows how good you have to be and be lucky with injuries etc

    Hopefully we’ll make another approach.

The Bentencur deal seems more unlikely now that Spurs are apparently in the mix and Juve’s asking price has suddenly jumped from £16m to £30m.

Bissouma is less of a risk, having already proved his Premier League pedigree.

Where have you seen that, that the asking price has jumped from £16m to £30m? I am not doubting what you have said, I am just curious

Have you seen the comments on this site in the past?

As has been previously mentioned on this thread we could sign mbappe and people would complain

Yes, I have, some people are never happy

because unless they are ball players some seem to question their value.

I think in some quarters they are slow to appreciate good defensive play.

He’s not a clogger, he’s an excellent and underrated centre back. He’s not a big name but he is extremely effective and his enthusiasm is infectious and it rubs off on teammates
