You are spot on, and this is why it is not easy for MON.

It is very interesting, but one thing you don't mention is ticket prices. It you include prices the picture is even worse for Villa, since we have some of the lowest prices in the PL. Tottenham have a lot better percentage, but that is combined with very very high prices - which makes it impressive. Bottom line is after all success and/or image. If the team is successful more people will come. If the club has the right image it will also draw people. Let me give you an example. FC Copenhagen is today a very successful club, but used to be a club in turmoil, with very few attendances. The club got its act together and raised the clubs profile and tried to identify to club with the city, make a slogan "the team of the city". They introduced a lot of initiatives to bring the fans a more "whole" experience, they stated that the club had ambition and the acknowledged the fans importance. After most games you see the Chairman going over to thank the supporters. FCK now averages over 20,000 a game, which is a lot in DK, when 3-5,000 to a top flight games is normal. So I will say it is about profile/image and ambition - things that have not been shown at VP for 25 years. It will take some time, but at soon as we start to get it right the fans will come. And they will come in numbers.

I can't see MON droping McCann at all. But I can see him droping Barry on the left back and get another holding midfielder in with McCann and let the boys rule the wings + Petrov as a free player right behind the Hulk.

General give our thanks to everyone at Villa. And as for marketing - remember that PL is HUGE in Scandinavia. A lot of fans to be picked up, especially since we now have a Norwegian, a Sweden and Two Danes at the club. All big stars in Scandinavia.

Barton had to say that after last time when he handed in the transfer request and the fans turned on him. If a club came in for him that he fancied I think he'd be off. Good point.

I agree Distin would be a gem Trouble is didn't he and his manager say they were in love and he wouldn't be going at any cost ? I thought Distin had stalled in contract talks with city? He might love it there, but unless he signed a deal a few days ago, his contract runs out this summer. So how much love he has for his manager I don't know.

Well Barton looks to be settled at City, but high wages might change his mind - who knows - he would be a fantastic signing.

I can't see us loosing out to Everton on any deal to be fair, especially after we have made 1 big signing. That is why I think the first signing are crusial.

Could we please sign Barton!! I mean at 5.5 mill he is a steal - just look at Pearce face when he trys to say none of his players are for sale, he is scared that he might loose Barton and Distin!! And hopefully to us! Has MON not esepcially said that he wanted to give McCann a helping hand?

Sure would, but klose has said that he wants a top 4 club (in europe not PL) so it might be a litle early for us :-)
