  1.

Just saw "the station agent", very good film. I'm more into low budget indi films that big blockbusters.

It's been recommended by myself and a few others in this very thread. A superb movie.

Ok, Michelle Williams only played a minor role, but I also liked her  in the movie Wendy and Lucy but not so much Blue Valentine, probably because Ryan Gosling was screwing her.

  2. The sessegnon appeal fails , 3 match ban upheld

I think Di Canio was deluded if he thought that would be over-ruled. I think Sunderland will get points from Stoke and Southampton so they will be fine.

  3. Too many confident people on this thread for my liking.

    Way too confident.

Anything other than a defeat please,  but I still think we may just lose this.

Looking to Wet spam and the Boggies to win please

Yes me too we don't want to jinx them. Norwich have a decent home record so we can't take anything for granted. If we play with the same passion as we did against Sunderland then we'll be ok.

  4. Yes probably better to keep his mouth shut but wont make much difference to wigan anyway as they will be really fired up for this game. Hope Lukaku can do his fellow Belgium a favour. West Brom are looking for a top 8 finish so I'm sure they will be up for it.

  5. Gabby still frustrates me. That moment he got the ball, stood still, then passed it out of play when Bennett was overlapping was quite telling IMO.

Of our three forward players, he's the one that should make way for someone a little more creative.

He's been a major part of our revival. There's nothing wrong with the front 3. We need to sign another young forward as backup though.

  6. I'd say at least 10% of people I know are racist, people through work and even members of my own family make some racist comments pretty regularly. At work, customers I deal with everyday, say some outright overtly racist stuff.

This doesn't mean it should be accepted and not rallied against. And certainly not rallied against when coming from a political party.

Yes there's an undercurrent of racism. People don't come out and express their views any more but its there. I haven't read all the posts in this thread. But are people saying the UKIP are a racist party. I know they are at the extreme right side of conservatism but they are not the bnp.

  7. I have been criticized by some on here for saying this before but I still believe Lambert will have done a remarkable job if he keeps us up this season. In terms of the players he bought in at the start of the season and in January I am not sure if he was dealt that hand or he would have chosen the same hand had he have had more money to spend. Perhaps a little of both. What is certain though is that he has signed some very good young players, combined them with the best of our own academy players, who all have great potential and who seem to have an excellent attitude. Under him we have also seen the rebirth of Gabby and seen Delph develop into the player we thought we had signed. Together they have been dragged through the dirt at times and had to learn the hard way.  Lambert though as stuck by them through some very, very tough times and with the faith he has shown in them, combined with their own eagerness to learn and succeed and keep battling it seems we will now retain our Premier League status.

Despite the lows in a strange way I've enjoyed this season, loved seeing the young lads learn, develop and show a willingness to knuckle down and work their bollocks off for this great club and Lambert has to take credit for much of that. He has molded a team and built a real spirit amongst them that had been lacking for too long at this club. He has also made a number of mistakes. Much like the players though he is learning but I just feel he has that something about him that will see him ultimately succeed.

Beyond this season I think we have some very good times to look forward to under Lambert. The likes of Lowton, Baker, Bennett, Westwood, Weimann, Delph, Sylla and Benteke if he stays will be even stronger next season for the experience they have gained this season. With  those players alongside the likes of Gabby, Vlaar and Guzan and another 3 or 4 astute signings over the summer then I fully expect us to hit the ground running next season.

I was over the moon when Lambert came last summer and I still feel the same now having him as the manager of the club I love. This club could well be about to take off again. There is a real unity being built amongst the supporters to get right behind these players and this manager and a real desire to see them succeed and long may that continue.

Yes good post if we stay up he's done a great job and I have enjoyed this season also. Its good to see us playing attractive football and its a lot more exciting to be in a relegation dogfight than midtable obscurity. I wouldn't want it every season and if we stay up I don't think we'll be worrying about relegation next season.

  8. Hate this talk about which club is best for him. Right now he's our player and that's all I care about. Anyway if Spurs don't make the top 4 there's no real benefit him going there. They are pretty much a one man team anyway and if they loose Bale they may not make the top 4 for years to come.

  9. Look at the team we played against Wigan and Lichaj, Holman, Herd and Ireland all started these are just awful footballers at this level. All these replaced by Vlaar, Gabby, Westwood and Delph.

That's it isn't it we had a lot of injuries, players playing out of position. Even a pub team could have scored against us then. We are a lot more solid now.

  10. If we went down this season but finished with more points than under McLeish, would you say Lambert has taken us backwards?

Backwards in terms of league status yes but in every other aspect no!

  11. For all the mistakes he has made he has more than made up for with crucial assists like last night, everton and QPR and the crucial goals he has scored. Can anybody work out how many points he has gained us this season to how many points he has lost us. My guess is he is hugely in credit!

  12. Papillon if you're saying that playing against Swansea under normal circumstances is 100% the same as playing against Swansea with an FA Cup Final 4 days later, then I'll respectfully and strongly disagree.

Gary Neville said it will be emotionally and physically draining and then they have to play arsenal 3 days after the cup final.

  13. He wont pick a reserve team for a CUP FINAL not a chance. Its the biggest game in Wigan's history. No way will they waste that opportunity the fans wouldn't stand for it. They have a chance against city. City are not unbeatable, Southampton beat them.

  14. Its hilarious looking at the various teams of the week out there, I haven't seen him in one but saw half the Liverpool team in some. Although I much prefer people not noticing the gem of a player we have here.

Yes Crooks had him in his team after the Fulham game but not the Sunderland one where he played much better! Strange, Reid must have been really brilliant or Crooks is bonkers.

  15. Before that Spurs equaliser we were heading towards odds-on for relegation. Now after Newcastle's meltdown and tonight we're 9-1, in other words 89% chance of staying up.  How quickly things change.

Yep that late equaliser and the result tonight has totally transformed the odds. Even before tonight we were about 7/4

  16. I hope the Chelsea result is not in the back of their minds. They should now be brimming with confidence knowing a win at Norwich virtually guarantees them safety.

  17. He's scored 18 goals in his first season for us. Gabby has 62 in what, eight seasons now? He only needs to stay with us for a few more seasons and he could easily be our top scorer. Not that I think we'll hold onto him long enough for that to happen of course, but it's quite an exciting way to think of things.

He's probably one of the best young strikers in world football right now, so yes its going to be difficult to keep hold of him. I just hope we have him next season. After-all he's happy at Villa and might find it more difficult at Spurs or Arsenal.
