  1. But we spent 20 million in the summer, not many clubs spent more. Ok he didn't spend much in January but you don't get value for money in January. Look at QPR. I would hardly say hes slammed the brakes on.

Maybe once we get all the deadwood off our wage-bill he will invest a bit more heavily again

  2. Lerner is just a complete arsehole and he has presided over 3 consecutive seasons of failure and misery.

The sooner he goes the better.

I don't know why anybody would want to be an owner of a football club. He has invested a stack of money to try and get us into the champions league, unfortunately he saw the money was wasted and then he decided to cut the wage bill because we were living way beyond our means. Ok there's little contact but I think people are too harsh on him.

Its the way he invested it is the problem. Spends, spends, spends then slams on the brakes was the problem. No planning what so ever. A joke of a way to run any business. Its a perfect case of a child who has a new Toy and plays with it for a while. Eventually they get bored of it. Sure he doesnt even come to games any more

Yes maybe you are right he has lost interest, maybe his interest went after the financial meltdown and he lost a lot of his personal wealth. The question is who is going to buy our club. He wont sell it for the price it bought it and who can blame him for that. I'm sure football clubs are just toys to these rich people, but its easy for us fans to say spend spend spend when its not our money.

  3. OK Paul so who has to carry the can for where we find ourselves now?

He owns the club, he appointed Faulkner a man with no experience of running a sports franchise (sic), he appointed two directors to the board who both had a great deal of experience, both resigned after short stints and if the rumours are correct both pointed out that the cause Lerner had set AVFC on was unsustainable.

Lerner continued to till he got to the point where even he realised that he couldnt sustain it and instead of coming up with a plan to reduce overheads over a more managable time period he pretty much turned the tap off. He has loaned the club millions of pounds not given he will want as much back as he possibly can, that might be the reason we as a club are stuck with him.

In his time as owner he has appointed 3 managers all of whom have questin marks about their ability, maybe Lambert can prove he is up to the job, time will tell. I have seen more players leave on free transfers than perhaps at any other premiership club after taking some bloody good wages from us.

He has lost interest in the club and I believe if someone was to offer to pay him what he had spent & loaned the club he would be out of here tomorrow. There is a lot of people who think that if we get relegated Lerner will dig deep to get us back up at the first attempt.......I believe he will do no such thing. He wont recoup the money he has spent so far so he is not going to throw money at the problem again. He is more likely to distance himself further, we will have to live within our means, those means will have been dramatically reduced because of the loss of TV revenue and as someone who can remember the dark days of the old 3rd division I wouldnt be surprised if this fantastic owner we have according to some fans has bought a Premiership club and turned it into a Championship also ran.

The Wolves had the Bhatti Brothers....... we have Randy Lerner.

No-one knows what his intentions are . Comparisons with the Bhatti Brothers are unfair. He has put major investment into the club and we spent 20 million in the summer. He backed Houllier with the signing of Bent, Mcleish witn Nzog and Hutton. Our wage bill is still too high! yes he's partially to blame for the choice of managers. Mcleish was a no brainer. Yes I do mainly blame Oneill for our current predicament. Perhaps Lerner was at fault for backing him for so long.

But how many people on here didn't want Lambert? He had done wonders with Norwich. Had a great pedigree as a player. I still think he's the right man whether we stay up or not.

  4. Yes it can be done quite easily with sql and php. Within a database you have a users, Products and orders table. Each table has its own unique ID. within the orders table you have two foreign keys for the User and Product. So when a person orders a film to download they are forced to login and then when they pay for that video it inserts a new order and the userID and ProductID is then added to that order.

So then for instance have a download.php page where the products paid for will be available to download, if you want have it available for 30 days then you can do that with simple sql query.

    Hope this helps.

    Look mate check out!

I don't use it because I use Dreamweaver but that will do everything you want and you don't need any prior knowledge. Their support is great. Fantastic support forum. 15 day money back. Let me know if you want to order it because I can get a referral lol

  5. Yes I think he did enough in that 2nd half showing to be given a chance in the starting eleven. We can always change things later on. I like NZog on the bench because he's a impact player.

  6. If the worst does happen this season do you think our **** of an owner will have the decency to apologise to the supporters of this club through TV or Radio media or will we get some half arsed press release from Faulkner and the re-opening of the Twitter account they used during last summer?

Yes he should apologise for loaning the club 125 million or whatever ever amount he has loaned us. If anybody was interested in buying the club and paying off the loans then fine but its a pointless have a pop at Lerner all the time when they is nobody out there who wants to buy the club

Ellis was no saint either. The club won the league in 81, he took over and got rid of Saunders and we went into a bigger dip that what is happening now. He also made a fortune out of Villa.

  7. Come the last game of season of course i would want to be 1 point ahead of Wigan. Any one saying otherwise isnt thinking straight. Gives us the draw and win. Take them both outcomes everyday of the week.

Yes totally agree. You would not want to have to win that last game

  8. Lerner is just a complete arsehole and he has presided over 3 consecutive seasons of failure and misery.

The sooner he goes the better.

  9. Would play Bannan over KEA all day.

Oh and didn't he assist at Reading ?

I suppose if you call missing a point blank goal that led to Gabby's goal an assist, then yeah he assisted

    That's harsh

  10. The question should be, If the infallible Wigan are so composed and capable, how come they're 3 points behind the worst Villa side ever?

Its definitely not the worst Villa team ever. Don't forget we got relegated to the old third division and the team Graham Taylor inherited and got promoted to the 1st Div in 88 was a very very poor team. just that Taylor was a much better manager than he was given credit for.

  11.

That's what I said about Westwood. You've inverted it and said it about Bannan.

Ireland has rarely played with Bannan on the pitch, and when they've played together Villa doesn't win much.  You can have no grounds for any analysis whatsoever that Bannan plays well with Ireland.

When it's Bannan and Westwood, Bannan is responsible for the more creative passes. That is why Westwood's passing accuracy stats have plummeted from high 90%s to low 80%s since Delph has come in.

He's going for the 'hollywood balls' - as you guys call them - Bannan would otherwise be going for. He's not as good at picking a pass as Bannan and I don't think he's comfortable doing that.

    You're actually impossible.

I haven't inverted it. Your post reminded me of what i'd said about Bannan months ago. I'm sure I could dig out the exact post if I have to. So unless I time travelled, I haven't just inverted what you said. I was actually capable of forming my own opinion.

AGAIN (I assume when stuff isn't numbers you struggle to read it), I mentioned Ireland because it was ONE example that I remember. The point is more general. I'm NOT saying Bannan plays better when he plays with Ireland, specifically. I'm saying that IN MY OPINION Bannan plays better when he plays a more reserved role and isn't under pressure to be the sole creative force going forward. A game where Ireland played is ONE (one. I'll write it again, one) example that I remember.

Your final 2 sentences are irrelevant to my point. I wasn't talking about Westwood (which admittedly makes this off topic so I apologise)

I prefer Bannan in a more attacking role actually. When he came on against Newcastle at home he played further forward and made a difference. I want to see him the most advanced of the midfield players because as Con says his game is about creativity and he's more likely than anybody else we have to make that telling pass.

  12.

That is harsh, if he'd done Ivanovic some serious harm you could understand it, you wouldn't get that for trying to deliberately break someones leg on the pitch.

It's not the point though. If you make a bad tackle, most of the time it's a pure accident. He has intentionally tried to harm someone. Not acceptable and 10 games is totally fair given his previous.

I don't really agree because a wreckless challenge like we saw from mcmanaman could have ended the guys career, and that went unpunished. Wheras the Suarez so-called bite didn't even break skin because if there had of been a serious mark there the ref would have show him the red card. So obviously there was no real intent to hurt the guy but it was a stupid thing to do.

A bad tackle that ends your career comes with the game i'm afraid. You have to make a tackle as part of the game and sometimes that can go wrong. Going out and biting someone isn't part of the game. It really doesn't matter if it broke the skin or not, the intent was there to cause harm, why else would you bite someone?

If i was to take a gun and shoot at someone, but miss. Would i get let off because i didn't harm the person? Of course not. If this was rugby he would be getting way more games than 10.

Yes you do make a pretty convincing argument there.  On the other-hand if you were a hunter and killed someone because you were wreckless would you not be prosecuted for manslaughter even though shooting is part of the sport. I think even though you have to tackle if you are wreckless in that tackle, end someones career,  and although intent cannot be proved its still worse than a minor bite isn't it, where nobody is hurt.

TBF he would have got away with a much lesser punishment if he hadn't got previous. He's possibly the best player in the premiere league.

  13. Contact the healthcare worker/team/police & say that you are concerned about a vulnerable adult. Those two words should trigger an investigation so make sure as others have said that you make notes etc that can be used in the investigation

Yes the worst thing you can do is stand by and do nothing. You need to report your concerns.

  14. Shame he's vanished - I think Monday night's game would suit him - though you never know what you're getting with Ireland.

Yes that's the trouble, he would be too bigger risk. You couldn't trust him

  15. I can see Wigan getting 6 points before the final day, so they'll be on 37

We I think will get 4 points taking us to 38

We will go to Wigan needing a draw to stay up, they will need to win

I'd take that scenario because I don't think we'll loose at Wigan but I hate it if we had the pressure on us to win there.

  16. 4.16 million a year Ireland gets. I agree we are being totally ripped off. The average price of a Bundesliga ticket is just over £10.00 and they will almost certainly have 2 teams In the Champions league final this season Robben gets little more money than Ireland does.

  17. Or you could just install xampp on your computer, start apache and MySQL services, run phpmyadmin and create a username and database then you can use Dreamweaver or any  webdesign package with a WYSIWYG editor and create and site and you can test it on your local server. That way it costs you absolutely nothing. You can get a 30 day trial of Dreamweaver. Once you finished a site you can purchase a hosting package and upload it to the remote server. There are plenty of free web editors around.

  18. How do we know we would have done better under those managers mentioned. Anybody can be successful at Man U and Chelsea. The only name mentioned that have done better is Martinez because he has done wonders at a club the size of Wigan
