  1. I'm not saying he will want to stay there, I'm saying they won't want him to leave especially if they stay up. Thats why he will cost big money. I'd love him at the Villa, but I can also see competition from Spuds, Barcodes, possibly Everton even Bolton for his signature
  2. My hunch would be that Charlton aren't going down. I give that honour to Wigan, Sham and Watford. Thus, Darren Bent won't be available and if he is he won't be cheap!
  3. This is me singing "stand up if you love Villa" but I cant actually stand!
  4. He's a midfielder who likes to get stuck in and is Zurich's Player of the Year for the season last season, apparently. And Steven Davis was ours!!!
  5. Did I read this right??? General sir, when will we see the kit? When can we buy it? Don't tell me I have to wing my way to asia just to get a sneaky peek at the design?
  6. I think we really need an experienced right back, we have suffered enough with a lack of real quality there for too long now! Except Mark Delaney
  7. We still do need a quality centre back if we want to step up a level and to put Mellberg on the bench and allow for injuries to Laursen. The 2 lads Cahill and Ridge are still learning regardless of their displays. Agree with you on the full backs though I think Freddy is doing a good enough job to keep his position We also need a much more creative midfielder because Petrov just isnt it and Gardner is still only 20 and is not yet that midfielder who controls games their way! Agree with you on the striker situation too, though I can see calls for someone to step up and at least score 15 next season or we will probably make a move for a prolific striker the summer after.
  8. Sad end, but a good move IMHO. I think he will be able to end his career gracefully
  9. We managed it with Ashley young and to some extent, Petrov :winkold: Tis true and that instils some confidence. However, we have lost out on many occasion before to teams like Everton (Lescott, Beattie), Newcastle (Milner, Parker???), Spurs (Robinson and O'leary's other favourites) etc. the teams we should be competing comfortably with. We will see All DOL's men, IMO this will not happen with MON and Lerner, we've got the pulling power again :winkold: Again, I agree. We are probably in a better position behind the scenes now though I will still wait and see

  11. It seems as though Sidwell definitely and Distin possibly are both looking to move on from their respective clubs this year, it just remains to be seen whether we can finally compete to attract the players everybody else wants???
  12. I think Tevez is starting to adapt to the Prem now and a shitty season at the Sham might just put him in good stead for a season at a proper club! He is quicker - both on the ball and off it - than he was at the start of the season and looks more of a Prem player than most foreigners. I think he would be a good signing and relatively cost effective. He has international pedigree with one of the better national teams and before his days at Sham was a target for Chelski so it might be a good deal....? Ashton would be good, but you cant bet on his injuries. We already have enough dodgy dereks in the team and we don't need another one regardless of how good he is! Bent I think would be the best choice though. he has carried Charlton for 2 seasons at least now and is very deserving of an England place if he gets one. Would be another positive home grown addition to the squad. Saviola? I heard both the Milans' were looking at him! Not sure how true that is, nor am I too sure if he would genuniely come???
  13. Sorry to bring the website again General, for I know that it is to be reveiwed and renewed etc. but I was hoping that this idea could be taken into things: A few other team websites, i.e. ManUre have news not only relating to their team but to their opposition in the run up to a game. If we could get news on the OS that details how our opponents are fairing, it would help us fans in the build up to the game. Cheers Jon
  14. £5m? Is that it? I doubt it! You get £30m for the Prem from next season so surely the Euro cup's [will] have something similar? Up th Villa!!!
  15. I would like to say Gabby but he hasn't looked as good on the right as he has through the middle and that is too late now. I voted for Gary Cahill as I believe he has had the harder job.
  16. I think more than anything Wilf's confidence has increased incredibly and his performances with it. He has definitely cemented his place in MON's plans and deserved his international call up. Good on him!
  17. Only one possible winner - GB Consistent and class
  18. Whoosh!!! I think you may have missed the sublety of the joke before yours I did have a think, but decided to put my foot in it anyway! :?
  19. Nah, Matthew Upson = Cock up something else!!!
  20. Wouldn't be too keen on Wes Brown either! He hasn't actually got a clarified position at Utd, which if you look at it one way means he is versatile, though if you are slightly synical like me it means he is just a replacement!
  21. General, After reading the Richard Fitzgerald thread, it is mentioned about the LCD screens and a new 'proper' scoreboard. Any idea when we will see these? Possibly before the end of the season? Also, I appreciate it is a long way off, but when plans are agreed for the new North Stand, will we have access to them? When the New Trinity plans were released, there was a full spread of about 6 pages in the Claret and Blue. Would you be able to arrange for a similar delivery of the information i.e. CGI's and stats etc. in the Claret and Blue or via a special pamphlet on request? Cheers Jon
  22. Pompey have said they are after him so we will see him in the Prem one way or another, just hope it's not something we regret if it's not with us! On the matter of Darren Fletcher - no thank you! I have had enough of United rejects! We are supposed to be building a squad to catch them and the others up, if we bought Fletcher we would be doing them all a favour!
  23. Yep Prem definitely, it's the Worlds top league not just Europe's - Although it would facilitate a springboard towards challenging for Euro glory, which would be nice!
  24. Maybe we can finally put this Villa (David not Aston) guff to bed then???
  25. 1. Ahhh the refreshing smell of shrewd business 2. Ahhh the refreshing smell of things to come....? However General, on the point of number 1; How about sorting some sort of player/ fan meet and greet/Q+A at the season end or during pre-season? That way, things may not be taken so literally nor have such an adverse affect!
