  1. The above comments cover the Milner question, but do you think he was there for more than just Milner? I'm not saying I want these players, or that we have a chance at them but: Dyer (did he play? My Sopcast was too fuzzy) Owen??? I would love to think he was there for Shorey!!! He was also sat next to Venables, having a joke and a laugh they were, though not about GB one hopes. More likely about Steve McClaren! EDIT: I struggled for names as neither team oozes much quality, especially the Barcodes and their back flaw!
  2. New York..? Cockpits..? Topical :?
  3. To be honest i tend to believe it even more when the story orignates from said players country, for example the Alpay transfer was all over the media in Turkey way before it hit the british press, i'm not concerned about the money quote, it's the quote regarding Mon's interest that matters , Furry muff :winkold:
  4. You could also question the fact that Martin O'neill has only £7million available to him! I don't think this paper has done it's research!
  5. Are you playing Football Manager or something? Saviola, Riquelme, Heinze, Snjeider, probably Geremi, wouldn't look twice at a deal to us, c'mon now. Currently (yes that does say currently, the future will hopefully be different!) we are a step back, players of that calibre don't tend to take steps back just like that. Keane - ffs he is the captain of Spurs and lashing them in at the moment, even if Spurs say they will sell him, he won't leave them. Appiah and Muntari are surely just wild rumours too. The clubs interested in them before are way above us, we can't actually say we can compete on that level yet!
  6. That would spoil all the fun! There's me about to post that we have been linked with Ronaldinho too This is just a guess, but I'm sure if you read back through it enough, he is coming along with Villa, Eto'o, Messi, Deco, Quaresma. Hey, don't jeapordise the chances of my prediction about the thread reaching 600-700 pages being correct! Sorry, I wouldn't want to spoil your fun :? To put this thread in context... we were linked with Bobo Balde just after MON had signed and he said something along the lines of "Aston Villa, I wouldn't sign for a club I've never heard of!" If we get that from a donkey like him, what would we get from the likes of the aforementiond Uberstar's de la monde??? (How many language's used badly in the last bit of that then?) I'm hoping that one day we can realistically be linked with the worlds best players, but until then let's realistically be linked with the best of the rest. thats the funniest thing ive read all day!! Well, it is only 1am!

  8. The silly squad is definitely out now! Just face it, we are going to get linked with anyone who is potentially available to a club of our stature. I know this thread is for rumours and things, but it's getting way too deep now. Let's just wait and see what happens from June 1st hey?
  9. I think Woodgates knowledge of the game would be better suited to a bigger club than the like's of Middlesvilla. I'd take him, but would also invest in another centre back because of the injuries him and Laursen would surely pick up. Would be like war stories in the physio room! Bellamy - no thanks, would much rather Defoe!
  10. 1. Quality, I can't wait to see them. Hopefully they are bringing the trophy...? 2. May Deadly rest in peace! Cheers General, yet more informative news
  11. Very much agree with that comment. Possibly get a couple of 10-goal midfielders too. Barry is one, hopefully Petrov?
  12. If Carew is as injury prone as we think he is, that's bad enough already isn't it?
  13. Slightly concrete evidence don't you think? On that note, when is it's release intended General? Cheers Jon
  14. Unfortunately, he doesn't score as many as he concedes!
  15. With all respect to Scandinavian heritage, I would happily pay for Sørensen's ticket home. Robert Green will be available in the summer, and for me he is the priority buy. Robert Green??? Oh no, please no! Had really good times for Norwich and kept them respectable, but he should be doing much better in a Sham shirt - weak link I'm afraid, stay clear! I agree - he's looked suspect with his positioning every time I have seen him play. Very true, the only keeper with worse positioning is Paul Robinson. Also his decision making is awful, I'd have no faith in him if I were playing at the back.

  17. Muntari has 3 red cards this season, not such a prolific goal scorer either with only 1 I think? What role would he likely play? Holding?
  18. The Ghana fans i know claim he could be as good as Essien and from what i've seen of him i agree, he's a box to box player with pace, stength and can create too, he'd be an absolute snip if we manage to get him, he's only 23 too so he can only get better, he's got the trusty left foot that could replace Berger's imo. I read that MON would be required to "dig deep" as he has been placed at £7m. Last season I would have cried, this season I'm laughing
  19. Ay, you see what you did there...? :winkold:
  20. I wouldn't want to see him leave, nor would I want to see his opportunities limited. But the fact remains that I just don't know where he would fit into MON's plans if we signed a new striker and I feel he would be the first to lose out!
  21. But I'm still not sure what you would do with him at VP. Presumably yuo would play him as a first choice in a 442 - alongside JC? Or Gabby? What about Luke and Ash? Remember, MON bought Ash to play up front, not on the wing. I don't think he will be ready to throw him out just yet after spending all that money on him. We don't want more than 4 strikers to rotate. If we buy another, Bent or whoever else, one of the above will have to make way. I don't want to see Gabby on the wing next season. For that reason, I would prefer us to buy a winger or two rather than a striker. I would like Luke and Gabby to be given every chance to show what they can do, not be relegated to fourth choice. If we do get another striker, I do think we will see Ash on the wing. He didnt cut it up front really and as soon as Gabby came in there was a difference. Ash made his name for Watford out wide and I think we should see what he can do there. I also think that Luke Moore will drop down the list, I cant see JC being dropped unless injured. MON has a commitment to Gabby now after praising him and getting him to sign a new contract, so he will at least make the bench each game and he'd be a good option IMHO. Likliehood is that any new striker will hopefully be a prolific one and will partner JC with a similar footballing brain.
  22. You'd better ask Steve McClaren. He knows all about looking past players!
  23. Arsenal??? No way! The reason Wenger doesn't buy British is because of the overated costs (Wallflop not inc.), Man U possibly, but it would suprise me.
