  1. The way I see things is that if we don't win this game it will go to the last game of the season!

That's likely but as we don't know what Wigan will do in their next 3 league matches (influence of FA cup final?), how Chel$ki will perform at Villa Park (influence of Europa League final?), let alone how we will perform in our final home game, it is far from certain!

  2. I always thought rugby pitches were bigger than football pitches?

Rugby pitch = 100m (plus no more than 22m behind posts) x no more than 70m. I don't know if there is a tolerance on the length.

    Villa Park pitch = 104m x 69m.

They won't need to change the side lines and they can use the grass area behind the goal lines for the try areas (okay not massive but they must have thought about it already!).

  3. http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/30/christian-benteke-aston-villa?CMP=twt_gu

Delph positive Benteke isn't going anywhere. I think we may see a new contract being negotiated as soon as were mathematically safe

    Great news, if it happens.

Now there is a contract I'd like to read through, future transfer criteria and all. Instead we'll be left guessing based on media knowledge which is usually pure supposition or erroneous anyway.

I wonder what value the board and Lambert will value Benteke at this summer, both in terms of contract offer and accepting a possible bid. I'll start the guessing at £50k/week or sell at £25m by RL and £70k/week or sell at £35m (based on getting it all for buying players) by PL. Just guessing like, as the makems say.

We all know the bid acceptance value can be forced by player/agent antics but with the World Cup next year, hopefully Christian will have a lot more sense.

Nearly forgot to add, I think CB is rather good.

  4. QPR players and management laughing as they came off the pitch. Disgraceful

We all know many players don't give a fig beyond their contract, but they must be dumb not to realise how strongly fans feel about relegation. I'm not advocating crocodile tears but how hard can it be to keep a neutral face for as long as it takes to exit the pitch?

  5. I'm troubled by what is worse: doing a close blood relative (on its own and without conception

So it's only right to do a relative if she conceives? Another twist ;)

Boy and girl twins could simultaneously be son, daughter, nephew, niece and cousins.

    * rings Jeremy Kyle *

  6. Behind Ginko but I'd already typed!

I fully choose to believe he is really blowing his beans up the aunty flange.

No i use the withdrawal method.

I'm troubled by what is worse: doing a close blood relative (on its own and without conception, harming nobody but society's morality), or betraying a fiancée.

If true, do you have troubled thoughts or struggle to look at yourself in a mirror?

  7. Ergo - its us or Wigan for the final relegation spot ?

Leaving the multiple quotes aside; there is a small chance of us finishing above one of the sides immediately above us. There is an even smaller chance of Wigan finishing above one of the sides immediately above us. The chance of both us AND Wigan finishing above one of the sides immediately above us is very, very small. As QPR and Reading have already filled 2 of the 3 spots, I think it is us or Wigan for for the drop.

It feels like a 2 horse race with Villa leading Wigan by a couple of lengths. Unfortunately, there are still fences to jump. If only it were on the flat!

see, I feel it's a 3 horse race.....Newcastle have won 1 away game all season and their next 2 games are away followed by the last home game of Arsenal who are fighting for champions league place and in fine form with 16 of the last 18 points

I think Newcastle are a few lengths ahead of us and several ahead of Wigan. Granted they could still finish behind us and Wigan but they would need to stumble at all the fences whilst us AND Wigan jumped comparatively well. Possible but still unlikely.

  9. So many are still buying that 'arry is a great manager who despite having a decent squad and with money to spend, couldn't get them playing well as a team to get even close to surviving?

  10. Looking at the QPR squad today, there so many players that many would appreciate as being very good footballers. Certainly plenty of 'names':

    Green

    Traore

    Hill

    Onuoha

    Bosingwa

    Taarabt

    Granero

    Jenas

    M'bia

    Remy

    Bothroyd

    Julio Cesar

    Fabio

    Ben-Haim

    Derry

    Park Ji-sung

    Hoilett

    Mackie

If 'appy 'arry is such a great manager, how has he got so many decent players to be relegated? Even joining QPR in November with 4 points from 12 games, he has managed just 21 points from 23 games. Not exactly the big turnaround the media and many 'neutrals' expected.

  11. I watched it through to see what thoughts sprung to my mind:

    What does it achieve?

Watching them as individuals, they all look very silly. Some run like they've messed themselves, others skip with arms flapping like they're trying to fly.

The guy in a blue anorak who jumps up to grab the crossbar, holds on for less than a second before slipping off and falling flat on his arse, made me laugh! See 2 mins 28 seconds through to 2:31 to enjoy.

  12. Do you think Suarez might have got a more lenient punishment if Liverpool had banned him first?  Say if they had given him a five or six game ban (certainly something that takes him into next season because missing four dead rubbers this year is hardly a punishment) then the FA might not have extended it.  Just a thought.

If I were on the committee I would have been very annoyed at Liverpool's 'just give him the 3 match ban and we'll all move on' approach. IF the club had stated that they will support whatever action the FA decided upon, he might have got an 8 or 9 ban. It was always going to be more than the 7 game ban he had for the Ajax as it was his second biting offence; something that seems to have been ignored by virtually all of their fans and some of the media. 'It was in a different league so it doesn't count' doesn't wash with me.

I hope the FA didn't 'go high' to accomodate an appeal and reduce the ban to 7 or 8 games. What a fudge that would be.

  13. Liverpool fans will point out that the other ban was in Holland and therefore shouldn't be considered in this instance.

Yep. Reduced to arguing he should be let off on a technicality.

They were happy to buy Suarez based on his footballing form in Holland but think his disciplinary form is irrelevant?

  14. I do enjoy a good conspiracy theory.

There are often numerous conspiracy theories about most of the hundreds of notorious world wide events. How do you go about filtering what you see as a 'good conspiracy theory' from the thousands of misguided, sometimes malicious pieces of crap, which on inspection are often self conflicting or conflicting across conspiracy theories? That's a tremendous amount of research or naivety.

You didn't quote the first part of the sentence, and have entirely misunderstood me. I don't believe a word of the link, I just enjoy reading about the secretive machinations of imagined shadowy organisations. It is fascinating what some people come up with; perhaps they should turn their hand to writing thrillers.

I came across the link on Twitter, not during any exhaustive research, and it piqued my interest as I had not long ago read an article about the death of the American sniper whose name escapes me, and was the founder of Craft International. When someone else posted a photo of the guys being wildly speculated about I thought I would add to the madness. I'm sorry that seems to have upset you.

No upset, we're cool, I hope. It was a genuine question. You've probably guessed that I'm not a big fan of conspiracy theories! It's just that I've heard enough of them that turned out to be nothing but time wasting bullsh!t, to be distinctly turned off by them. I'd guess that 1 in 1000 might have an element of credence, but if someone 'cries wolf' 999 times, the 1000th is bound to be passed over.

I'm not a fan of passing on chain emails (formally letters) either. You know, the ones that say 'send this on to 6 of your friends and you'll avoid bad luck'. What a crock of sh!t.

  16. Some people can't accept the darker side of human nature can't stretch to "conspiracy"I read the official statement and it said nothing about them planting a bomb. Just they were suspected of it, the one didn't flinch as the first went off. And that was the footage they referred to.Whoever did this is sick.My point is never believe all you read. It's all right for you guys that don't look like "foreign"

Was sent this today and it made me wonder why this guy above has not been questioned 52838261372079199047515.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Because the backpack is not similar to the two captured on CCTV that subsequently exploded. Are the three images even from Boston? Seriously, why does half the world turn in to Miss Marple and think they could do a better job, everytime an event happens?

Yes these are from Boston, I checked as I thought it was going to be easy to answer.

And if that bag is not the same, neither is

And of course, here is the bag:

How are you better qualified than dozens, if not hundreds of investigators who do the job for a living, to state what bag is the same as what bag? How do you know this guy wasn't 'looked at' but there is other information (which you are unaware of), that completely rules him out? Trial by twitter ffs?
