  1. I think he'll be class.

Even with limited appearances, I reckon he could easily have a big impact and could probably win us 3 points by himself during the season. Could be a great impact player and someone who can inspire the younger ones to express themselves more on the pitch.

I hope so but then i question why west ham didn't want to keep him, especially when big sam is under pressure to play better football.

I'll leave the 'he's crap/good" comments until I've seen him play 1000 minutes or so for us (hopefully that won't take more than around 15 games), but if Cole wasn't wanted by FatSam that's a good start in my opinion. :-)

  2. Anyone else still waiting for their season cards? No sign of mine yet

Received my 3 STs yesterday. For logistic reasons they are posted out in batches, possibly in alphabetic order by surname. You might need to wait another couple of days before they get to the Vs.

  3. If he plays before the autumn, our best hope of keeping him until the summer (without fresh investment), is if he has an average return to action. I hope he scores a few low key goals for us and helps us win games with a few assists. I then hope he enjoys a storming second half of the season - starting from around late January, just as the transfer window closes.

  4. What's our lowest premier league attendance? I have a feeling we may break it this season.

I believe our lowest Premier League home attendance is 17,940. Do you still feel we may break it this season?

    Really its that low?

    No chance then.

Yep. I was there to see a home loss against Wimbledon, in front of less than 18,000, just 20 seasons ago. Even with a capacity of 45,000, we averaged 29,000 in those days.

  5. My circumstance is so similar to Mark's I have copied and made the appropriate change:

I renewed. Will be my 27th season on the bounce as a season ticket holder. Being honest I simply go now out of habit and not wanting to break my run of being a ST holder. It hasn't been enjoyable for a long time and is not something I look forward to.

I have also renewed my son's season ticket and this will be his 11th season on the spin. He is 16 and I am half expecting a visit from Esther Rantzen and to be done for child cruelty.

  6. Anyone give me advice on driving up really steep hills? My brothers friend basically lives up the mountain. I'll take a pic next time I'm up there but it is insanely steep and very high, your ears pop as you come down. Anyway last time I drove up it I couldn't really accelerate and foot was to the floor, car was under a bit of pressure, should I be in a certain gear or what?

On VT it can be difficult to tell whether a post is serious. Assuming this is, you should change down a gear before the engine begins to labour. Changing down will increase the engine speed (revs) which will increase the power available. If you are down to first gear and the engine is still labouring, get a more powerful car or get your brother's friend to visit you instead.

  7. What are the odds on us to go down next season?

I think it's a 50/50, we almost certainly will if L&L are in charge for it. At least a betting win would soften the almighty blow.

I think 50/50 are fair odds for us but also for about 9 others as well.

No wonder why most bookies are rich!

  8. He should have done the decent thing and walked. It'll serve him right if we get new owners, and they give him the push the week after a host of other management jobs all get filled.

I don't understand your post. If he walks now, he leaves with nothing (or with whatever he can mutually agree with Randy), but if he waits to get sacked by a new owner he is likely to get the remaining value of his contract paid to him. How will that 'serve him right'?

  9. Can I throw a possible explanation into the mix.....

The New York Stock Exchange opens at 9.30am. There is a five hour time difference from here to NY so it opens at 1.30pm UK time. If the club were being acquired by a listed US company they would generally make a regulatory announcement as the market opened, same as in the UK, which would mean at the very earliest an announcement would be at 1.30pm.

It could be that the regulatory announcement is made as the market opens and a more user friendly statement is released by Lerner / the club an hour later. Alternatively the acquiring company is so large that it does not have to release as the market opens as its not deemed to be price sensitive (less likely).

I'm still of the opinion its all rubbish but we will see

All speculation aside, I believe 5 hours ahead of 9:30am is 2:30pm.

  10. it's a meal to say thanks for your support and loyalty and good luck for the future type thing

    I agree - a 'leaving do'.

I think Lerner will probably be reassuring Lambert that he will keep being paid for as long as Lerner owns the club but there's a decent chance that won't be for much longer. Lambert will know what he is entitled to if his contract is cancelled by a new owner.

  11. Just off the phone with a fellow economist who is good mates with ex-Bank of England guvnor (and Villa fan) Mervyn King. King said that Mike Ilitch has been in negotiations with Lerner for months. Ilitch owns both the NFL and the NHL team in Detroit. Used to own a "soccer" team (as the Yanks call it) and is now looking to branch out after Detroit's bankruptcy.

Heard it here first #itk #nilsinfior

If this is true, I'd guess it was something for his family to 'play' with as he has 2 months to buy us before his 85th birthday.

  12. as a club itself probably deserves relegation, only those in denial will not agree.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

We deserve relegation if we finish in the bottom 3. After 38 games, why should a team finishing 17th deserve relegation more than a team finishing 18th to 20th?

Because the club is a bloody shambles.

And teams that finish 18th to 20th aren't in a shambles?

  14. The table doesn't lie but that applies to all the teams. I don't think anyone would argue that we have not been poor this season (very poor on current form). If there are 3 worse teams this season we will stay up, if not we'll be down. I hope not to read any "we were lucky to stay up" posts as I'm sure there won't be any counteracting "we were unlucky to go down".

  15. Like I said earlier, how would she know he was shouting at her?

If he's shouting "you there, in the bathroom, who are you?" then yes fair enough.

But if he's shouting at her to stay where she is and call the police, why would she assume he didn't know where she was?

She might have thought he knew where she was and he was shouting at some intruder coming up the stairs or hiding in a cupboard.

It's a stretch, but I just think they'll struggle to prove that that isn't a possibility.

    Just about plausible.

Have they yet asked him why he was certain it was an intruder and why he was certain it couldn't possibly have been Reeva in the toilet?
