  1. Why else does every act of parliment need Royal Ascent ?

Everything is geared to keep them where they are

I'm not a constitutional expert but I suspect the royal family is written in to the UK's constitution, but couldn't the constitution could be changed, if Parliament decides? I suspect a lot of the royal family and Parliament's relationship is constitutionally intertwined, in a 'I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine' way, thus making any change unlikely.
  2. When people take photos of their food.

I've just witnessed a ridiculous example - someone took a photo of their Eggs Benedict. In a Wetherspoons. I suppose that'll now go on some social network with a cringeworthy caption like "Mmm, yummy breakfast this morning".

I'd go as far to say 90% of social networking.

    "Just had a yummy breakfast"

"Got a bangin' head after a great night"

"Sun is out so I'm catching some rays in the garden"

I think it is extremely vain to think anyone else gives a sh!t.

A social football forum is just the place to make this point :P

I'm familiar with sites such as Facebook through my two teenage children so I don't see VT as a social networking site. I'm surprised some can't see the difference! :)

  3. Think that could of been his last game, Sherwood was absolutely livid!

Given has shown fine form in the FA cup and has an association with Sherwood going back 20+ years. Unfortunately Guzan has presented his manager with an easy excuse to drop him in favour of a more than capable replacement. Giving Shay the final games of the league season could also help him to maintain his form for the final.

I still think Guzan is a fine keeper so even if he is dropped for the remaining few games of this season, I hope he comes bouncing back during pre-season ready to start fresh in August.

When labour have people like this clown who can't answer questions about major parts about their manifesto it doesn't reflect well on them and makes us remember why we kicked them out in the first place.

Do you realise that every party has produced representatives that have produced similar performances?

In regard to remembering the performance of previous governments, every one of them has been 'kicked out', so should the two biggest parties never be re-elected again?

  6. Clutching at straws but i'd say there's no chance QPR or Burnley catch us now, there's 1 more place left.

This is very likely imo. Burnleh and qpr to go down plus 1 from the 5 above. Unfortunately I think boggies point today just about keeps them out of it.

  7. Unsure which part of this pisses me off more. Yesterday I got electrocuted, about 4 months ago we got a new hoover, and then 3 weeks ago our new dog chewed the cable a bit, a bit of insulating tape and it was as good as new, yesterday I plugged it in and then went to hoover, there was a loud bang and I am on my arse. The cable is sperated from the hoover and my arm is tingling massively. I now have to buy a new hoover.

So are you now a ghost?

It is surprising how many people use 'electrocuted' to describe receiving an electric shock when they have clearly failed in executing the second part of the act.

  8. I like the idea of a consortium. Things went belly up for us due to one man's personal misfortune, so spreading the risk around seems a much safer approach.

We could do with the investment of someone who can afford to buy us outright, not the spare change of a few businessmen who have clubbed together. I suppose it could be argued that if the consortium members are very rich individuals they will still have plenty to spare after buying only a fraction of the club each, although many would think anyone really wealthy wouldn't bother sharing the club with others who have potentially differing opinions on how the club moves forward.

  9. UK based consortium pretty uninspiring if true

And yet if it was an Arab consortium everyone would be excited.

Ridiculous to jump to such conclusions based on the nationality of the buyer(s).

In fairness, it is also ridiculous to jump to conclusions based on a tabloid newspaper story.

  10. The article says 'UK based' though, so that might put a different spin on things. There's a chance it  might be wrong anyway, I've lost count of amount of times I've read stories about ourselves, Leeds, Newcastle, Southampton and others being close to a takeover and nothing happens.

Exactly. Papers run a scatter-gun approach and then shout loud about a hit they have whilst ignoring their dozens of misses.

We will need to wait and see.

  11. We'll need to wait and see but if the latest gossip regarding a sale to a UK consortium is correct, I worry it may just be a few businessmen scraping their money together to enjoy the limelight of owning a Premier League football club and being hosted at the likes of the emirates and mold trafford. Hopefully any sale will be better than that.

Dont invite your mothers neighbours 16 year old daughter to an afterparty when you are drunk as hell..

In sweden it's not illegal to have sex with a 16 year old, and have you seen how the 16 year olds look these days ? hard to say if she is 16 or 26..

A girl of 15 would be illegal in the UK.
