Like I said, he's shown glimpses. Not sure what point you're making.  I saw Bernard Gallagher make some good tackles in my time.

The point is the same as what been in the Champions League thread.

People desperately trying to be superior to each other. Social media thing I think.

HOW CAN YOU NOT WANT A TROPHY, WHO REMEMBERS 4TH...NONO WE NEED TOP 4 FOR THE MONEY, HOW CAN ANYONE THINK ANYTHING DIFFERENT

  2. Maybe we should have kept Gerrard because Ferguson came good for Utd?

    Another bad Diaby performance.

Not sell him. Not shoot him. Not abuse. Not 'he will never come good'

Merely a comment on a forum on another useless performance. It's OK to state the truth.

Doesn't mean you're a better fan if you want to ignore it and pretend you're on a really high horse.

your are suggesting defenders and midfielders who can't defend.

The lads at the club are looking at the data in massive detail in conjunction with the teams data and what it's missing. However be serious the basic stats are so bad it isn't even worth looking in any detail.

Do you sometimes see a player and think, oh yes good...

then you check his FBREF page, see he has some poor stats and think oh I was wrong, he's not good.

    ?

All of those players bar maybe Watkins had wobbles at some point or another this season.

Agree. I'd also say Watkins didn't start well at all. He was scoring but not playing well at all.

Digne has been extremely consistent all season whether in the league or in Europe

Disagree. Up and down. Up recently, absolutely cemented himself as #1 #3.

and it's just a nice story. It's why I went for FPOTY as that award is typically more sentimental.

    Harrumph!!

Yeah, if he got, that would be fine. I'd be happy for him.

I'd be voting Konsa right now I think.

Well mostly by the club and Emery because they have to decide if he's a first-teamer or not. Rotation or back-up on 120k a week is not really something we can afford to do.

    Correct.

I will say though, if he'd played most weeks like he did against Arsenal (where he lost a poor header to Saka at the back post, luckily it went wide at 0-0) there would be no additional negative comment. Can't believe his legs that game! So much running, looked quicker than he's ever looked.

He's been very good recently but can't believe the player of the season shout @Keyblade. Come on. He's not had a better season than any of Martinez, Konsa, Torres, McGinn, Luiz, Bailey, Watkins. No chance.

Wouldn't be surprised if we tried to move him on. Wouldn't be surprised if we offered him a longer contract but reduced the salary.

Thanks, again, even in worst case scenario City going out wouldn't be the end of our hopes either, Arsenal beating Bayern is crucial however and it all hinges on this tie really.

Once SFs are set it'll be easier to map out possibilities and certainties.

All this % chance bollocks is coming at it wrong. I don't know where people are taking the odds from. The only place I'd ever look would be betting exchanges, even then it's not worth looking at % chances of anything when there's 100+ matches to be played.

Like those shit win predictors you now see on lots of sport coverage. Oh wow, team A was 67% sure to win, but now they've conceded and they only have 28% chance. Duh.

Football is a game of fine margins that's really hard to predict. We have deflected goals, players being sent off in the fifth minute and awful officials.

It literally has to be B. There’s a lot riding on being in the champions league which will mean a whole load of progression and commercial benefits.

Winning a trophy would be lovely and all but as a business, we need to be playing on the big stage.

    No. Says who? Chris Heck?

As if fans have to make the business choice.

    Trophy is a trophy.

2 semi games can end in draws can they not? Not sure how the penalty game would count, but that would give 3 points the ceiling.

    Draw is 1 each.

Win is 2 for winner, 0 for loser.

    Pens/ET don't add anything.

4 points to be handed out across both matches regardless of any results.

Is that 18.125 just after tomorrow, or taking into account the guaranteed points from the semi final? Just asking as you mentioned projecting far ahead

If they both win. We can add on...

    • 4 points for them both winning, 2 each
    • 2 points for them both appearing in SF
    • 4 points because there are 4 points to be handed out during the two SF matches. Doesn't matter the results, England get 4 points
    • 1 point for one team being in the final

So two wins is as good as 11 points being plonked through the coefficient wood chipper.

Is the coefficient based on the aggregate 2 game score or on a game by game basis ? Any one know ?

God what's happened to my quote there...?!

It's an individual match thing. A win is the same for us as it is for City. Big old calculation hanging around the middle.

    Currently it's...

    GER 17.214 - 16.750 ENG

If Arsenal and City both win tomorrow it'll be...

    GER 17.214 - 18.125 ENG

City and Arsenal playing each other means you can project quite far ahead.

He was noticeably quicker in the 70th min than the 5th which I found interesting

    That is totally believable though!

Wouldn't make sense for a normal player, but it does for mavericks like Zaniolo and Bailey. Up is down, the sky is green, pigs WILL fly.

What we've got in these two is excellent attitudes regardless of performance. Every time either of them speak, it's always positive, it's always wanting to improve, it's always team first.

I totally gave up on Bailey this year - he's since shown he could reach a level I didn't think possible. Really hope Zaniolo does the same and fires us to that 4th spot.

good performances from him, I would still sell in the summer though.

Need a younger centre back for our mix of 4 and his wages are very high.

Agree on paper. It's dependent on Mings being fit for 25+ games a season though which will be really tough to gauge.

Don't think we'd have an easy time moving him on. Family settled etc.

Purely in a football sense, it would be a good time for a parting of ways on both sides with Diego and a few others this summer.

Unless there's a clause, Palace or the likes of Fulham won't be selling their best players to us.

They will if the players aren't signing new contracts.

For the fees we'd have to go to for Anderson, Eze or whatever it would be eyewatering in the extreme and limit what else we could do.

    Agree it'll be very expensive.

We won't be signing Eze or Olise. Andersen is an interesting name though, that's possible IMO.

Thought he was rubbish today, the only positive is that he continues to work hard.

    Harsh IMO.

Him and Zaniolo did loads of support for the defence today. Crucial.

He's still not back up to that early season form though. Confidence has gone a bit from his game. It will return.
