He’s been great this season. He does have the niggling habit of being better from the bench than from the start quite often though. Weird.

Bailey has been directly involved in seven goals as a substitute in the Premier League this season (three goals, four assists), more than any other player.

  2. As well as preposterous quality overall, he's just got that X-Factor.

    Something magical about him.

If we go to a penalty shootout this season...imagine the confidence all the takers will have knowing Emi is trying to stop the opponents.

I've always liked Joachim Anderson and he's just put in a sensational performance at Anfield, one of the best I've seen from a CB all season.

Think he has two years left and think he can play both sides so that's the sort of useful signing where we could switch more to a back 3 next season if required.

We tried to sign him before he went to Palace. Very good player. Very good character on the pitch.

Not certain what positions we'll spend big, be interesting to see.

I'm in the minority that I don't mind Konsa+Cash as RB options (plus £9m Nedelkovic!). A CB isn't out of the question with some uncertainty around Mings.

Andersen would be high cost, high quality, minimal risk. Wouldn't hate it.

If Arsenal and City win this week, where does that leave us coefficient-wise? Because while 4th is far from sorted, 5th all but is now.

If Bayern knock Arsenal out, that's pretty big. Leverkusen are already big favourites to win Europa, so Germany will be in a great place.

The sooner I can go back to wanting every English side but Villa to lose all the time, the better.

4th and no UCL for 5th is 100% the best outcome for us.

  5. Best game for Villa.

Does what he's told to do. Powers forward. Gets us up the pitch.

Really really impressive. Unai definitely still knocking some rough angles off as well.

Do what the great man tells you, and you'll fly as a footballer.

He'd have like 25 goals already if he could take a pen.

    What a season.

    Incredible, yes.

As soon as Luiz misses one, I think he'll be there now asking for them back.

  7. Not appalling at all! Daje!

You won't get too many tougher games than that. Ran miles back and forward down that wing.

Size of the ****, I've been wanting him to knock some opponents over since he arrived! If he can toughen up and find some consistency, he can make it here.

£19.2m (plus I suspect a decent wedge more when we qualify for Champions League) is the price. Still unsure myself.

    Best game for Villa.

What has the world become where people endorse throwing a game when we can taste The Champions League?

The world where we have two more winnable games coming up in the next seven days.

Three points available v Bournemouth. Three v Arsenal.

    Rest legs for me.

Finley Munroe signed his first professional contract today, Mark Harrison speaks of him transitioning to senior football in his little write up thing that he does when an academy player signs a contract, so I think good chance we will be seeing him go out on loan next season

He really needs to work on that name. You don't make it in the PL by being a Charles Dickens character.

    Arsenal loss

    Bournemouth draw (on good form)

    Chelsea draw

    Brighton loss

    Liverpool loss

    Palace win

    Feasible results.

As we've been the last two months... probably likely.

If we improve, we could definitely get 10+.

How far do you want to go back? I'm talkng recent form

There is no reasonable argument against us being in poor form. From what we've put on this season, we have recently been poor.

Wouldn't worry about debating it if someone insists we aren't. They see things differently.

Because I'm insane as well... Newcastle have a very easy run in, we won't be resting anyone while they can mathematically catch us in 5th.

    INSANE LIKE A FOX!

6 points will be enough for us. I'd definitely sign up for 7 from 6 right now.

Konsa ar rb is a disaster. Going forward he isn't ever going to overlap with Bailey and defensively we let in so many goals you'd think we were fighting relegation.

    He's excellent there.

He's very missed at centre half though.

The entire association coefficient section pasted below doesn't say anything about round progression points at all:

They are only for club coefficient points, which aren't relevant here. Has everyone been working this out wrong the whole time?

It's in complete contradiction to this page:

    Quote

Clubs that reach the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals or final of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League, or the semi-finals or final of the UEFA Europa Conference League are awarded an extra point for each such round.

    From that link.
