Funny from big James Collins. Again shows where we’re lacking defensively…it’s not rocket science. Just get a big lad back there who loves to head it

    No. God.

    That's not what that shows.

It shows Martin O'Neill was a disgrace who cost us the chance to be a top side now. While he was **** about doing this, giving the whole team all week off, signing players he thought looked good on match of the day. Spurs went miles past us by acting like a professional football club.

I like him but for where we want to get to, he should be, at best, a back up option. Hopefully we can get £25m.

Yeah, he's fine back-up. Doesn't really have a weakness apart from the space between his ears.

Agree, £25m seems within the realms of possibility. I think we'd sell for £15m if an offer came though.

I'm happy for them to repeal the rule so long as it's replaced by something equally effective at preventing the City's and Newcastles bringing the entire wealth of a nation to the table to make the league anti-competetive.

Ideally we need a wage cap.

The most ideal thing, and also the funniest and best.

Is to take city out the league. See ya. All their titles go to 2nds/runners up. Congrats to us for the league cup.

Then bring in a wage cap. Say whatever Liverpool's is right now. Or Arsenal's. That sort of level. Total player salaries, youth, first team, all of it. That's everyone's limit from now.

Imagine lining up next season against Man City

          Barkley Gallagher Mcginn

And feeling confident about getting a result, yeah let that sink in…love unai to bits but even then i would be in doubt of success, yes i get barkley isnt a starter probably but we could see that line up at certain points

    Don't really understand you here.

If it was Kamara Luiz McGinn I still wouldn't be confident of a result. What's your thinking?

After promotion, under both Deano and SG, our problems were usually attributed to midfield. Even after we bought Kamara.

Unai brought Doug back in from the cold after he was marginalized by SG and paired him with Kamara. Our success this season was no small part attributable to that pairing. They complemented each other so well.

Doug did not play as well after Kamara left, but that does not mean all the credit belongs to Kamara. Otherwise, midfield would have done better under SG. They're just good together.

Why break that up? If we really have PSR problems, I'd sell others before Doug.

Well one reason would be one of the two not being able to play if the other isn't there.

    That's not a good trait.

, helping to run the legs off opposing midfields.

We don't usually try and do that though. We play slowly and carefully with the ball.

Swap Duran for Gallagher is a good deal. Start doing £10m+Duran we're getting the shitty end of the stick IMO.

They're absolute mentalists.  They believe the "red cartel" are out to get them and that they're under constant attack from the media (they get bummed and their crimes ignored for the most part!)

Every accusation levelled at them is fabricated in order to ptorect the elite.  They are whiter than white and believe they are football's last hope to stand up against the big bullies.

Seriously, check out the Blue Moon forum.  Absolutely crazy stuff.

You will not find a better case for sportswashing than what has happened to City fans.

99% of them have totally lost it.

    It's worked perfectly.

Not the grand edifice he portrayed in the interview with Gabby - is it?

So funny they picked Gabby to do it.

If they couldn't show any clearer they aren't in touch with the vast vast majority of villa fans.

Got Alpay lined up for the next one I reckon.

Like the pennies we're looking to pay for Gallagher?

I don't think we can afford to gamble someone will be willing to bid £50m with a year left.

Chelsea can. They're about to breach FFP and are still focussing on incomings.

People might have Michael Bradley PTSD from McKennie but McKennie is 10x the talent and has suffered from most sides no longer playing a 3 man midfield. But for the US, he has excelled as a box to box 3. Motivation has also been a question over his head.

But what McKennie has going for him is versatility as he can play 5/6 of the non defender positions and then has also been utilized as RWB for Juventus and the US. So in that way, it does make a lot of sense for Unai.

So as difficult as the comparison is, McKennie is a fundamentally different player than Luiz, who only plays in the double pivot.

And if nothing else, McKennie is excellent in the air.

This is what's strange IMO...both McKennie and Gallagher are not the same players as Luiz at all. They're not too dissimilar themselves mind.

Emery loves Luiz. He batters and bollocks him constantly, but it's because he's important, and he can do the things we need him to do. Or he can when Kamara's there...

Perhaps the Luiz performances dropping without Kamara has meant Unai wants something different in that position now? Something sturdier. The last 10-15 games of the season we were rotten. Bottom half form easily.

I don't see or want that, just trying to figure out our thinking.

No. We keep him for another year and he can decide where he wants to leave like whatever the bumper contract pay rise on the table over the next 12 months. When guys realise they are going to lose out on 2 mil they change their tones pretty quickly.

Plus like we can sell him to city, Liverpool or arsenal in 12 months time and we can probably drive the price pretty high if only because they will want to prevent the others from strengthening.

We'll only be getting derisory bids if he has one year left. He'll have Juve, Madrid, PSG, Saudi all chattering away to his agent 'wait 6 months and a £15m signing on fee is yours'.

I think Zaniolo was a Monchi punt but I am still convinced we wouldnt have signed him without Buendia injury

    Good shout actually.

Yes, him and Lenglet were very much emergency signings IMO. As such, you get fair bit of slack with them.

Neither was a massive hit, but they both had a few moments that helped us clamber to 4th.
